Refreshingly straight talk from a Saudi terrorism expert. From NewsMax, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
Al-Qaida is far from being neutralized and is planning its next "catastrophic" attack, according to a top expert on the terrorist organization.Dr. Saad al-Faqih, who heads the Saudi opposition group Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia, was asked in an interview in London if there is any credence to reports of al-Qaida's "demise." His response was chilling:
"Nobody knows how al-Qaida really works. Consider, for instance, that the time lapse between the Africa embassy bombings and 9/11 was more than three years. Therefore the fact that no major attack has taken place since 9/11 is not altogether very surprising.
"Al-Qaida is an extremely resilient organization and it will most likely surprise everybody by how, when and where it executes its next catastrophic attack."
Asked when a weapons of mass destruction attack is likely to take place, Dr. al-Faqih said: "It could happen at any time."...
"But of course al-Qaida is an ideology and its potency cannot be reduced to the number of men in its ranks," he cautioned.
"Moreover, the invasion and occupation of Iraq gave al-Qaida a huge boost and the Saudi government has indirectly admitted that at least 2,500 Saudis are fighting in Iraq."...
"A classified interior ministry report claims that at least 200 have
returned and are currently plotting attacks inside the Kingdom."An attack on the royals will likely be carried out by returnees from Iraq."...
"Al-Qaida has lost ground militarily, politically and ideologically.
Ideologically? Really?
Attacking civilians proved to be a major blunder and it remains to be seen whether they can fully recover from it.
He is most likely referring only to Muslim civilians within Saudi Arabia.
"Also, by attacking the security forces they lost a lot of sympathy inside these organizations."The feeling in Saudi society today is no longer particularly sympathetic toward al-Qaida, according to al-Faqih.
Tiny minority of extremists update:
"The situation was very different two or three years ago, when ordinary people were willing to give the jihadis shelter and other forms of support."Al-Faqih also predicted that 'al-Qaida in Iraq' leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi would likely be killed soon - and said that ordinary Saudis view their government's support for the occupation of Iraq as "treason."
This is probably the most pertinant article ever posted on this site. The article underneath this one tells you all you have to know about tennents of islam and the plans that some of its practioners have in plan, al qaida are planing a dreadfull attack, osama binladin has stated so,and has receaved a fatwa from a senior Saudi cleric. His plan is to remove the strenght of the west,ie its economy and technology possibly Londons finaince centre or the Saudi, and regional oil fields

I heard Osama is also writing THE IDIOTS GUIDE TO JIHAD in his spare time, as well.
If they hit us, they'll die like a mass of ants under a poured-out kettle of boiling water, so, as Bush said (before his advisors neutered him):
"BRING IT ON!"
"Dr. Saad al-Faqih, who heads the Saudi opposition group Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia..."
-- from the article above
This man is himself a devout believer in Islam, with all that that implies. His opposition to Saudi Arabia is not directed at the Saudi support for terrorism, and for other instruments of Jihad, world-wide, but rather at the theft of state property (the oil) by a single family, the Al-Saud.
It is slightly misleading, I think, to describe him as a "terrorism expert." He knows something, and he tells more of the truth than the Al-Saud family, that he detests. His opposition to them, however, is based on the idea that, being corrupt, they cannot be good Muslims. It is an opposition not based on outrage outside of the Muslim world-view, but depending on that view.
He does tell more of the truth, as he sees it, than most Saudis, who offer quasi-nonsense, taqiyya-and-kitman, and outrgight lies as their wares.
A sizeable portion of the "moderates" do not disagree with the jihadists' goals. They disagree with the methods - primarily, I would guess, because of the bad press.
Sa'ad al-Faqih is a "terrorism expert"? He is on the US State Dept's list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists, among other such things. He runs the Qaeda-friendly islahi.net website and its many mirrors, plus the Castle Forums. Al-Haganah recently put out a summary of his activities and URL's. His visitors at those forums include known Qaeda writers, such as Lewis Attiyat-ullah. But just how important he is is unclear. He's certainly very publicity-hungry, and dreams of replacing the Saud/Wahhab regime with his own regime. No bull. He has claimed on his site (falsely) that many "sheikhs" in Yemen and KSA would recognize his "leadership" after his imaginary coup in KSA finally takes place.
Ah yes, the paper tiger roars again. Ho-Hum. While not denying the fact that there is still many capable and fearsome mujahid that need to be dealt with, al-Qaida is toast in Babylon. They have done zip since Madrid's 3/11 and have been severely handicapped since they kicked over a hornet's nest in the form of the 9/11 attacks. Not one of al-Qaida's political objectives has been reached. Not only did the brave Iraqis vote, they voted en masse, a direct slap in the face of the jihadists. No uprising of the milquetoast 'Arab street'. No fall of the ruling elite in the KSA either. No dead Mushharraf in Pakistan. No destruction of the Jewish state of Israel. No success in any kind of land, sea, or air attack anywhere. No military victory by conventional means. All in all, a pretty abysmal showing, wouldn't you say? The bloody French have had more success in 10 years than the Arabs in 20. Besides, Arabs are terrible bloody soldiers anyways. Ho-Hum indeed.
