Debbie Schlussel gives us an update on the egregious Morgan Spurlock in the OpinionJournal (thanks to all who sent this in):
Morgan Spurlock got famous from his Oscar-nominated documentary "Super Size Me." He ingested big McDonald's meals three times a day for 30 days, then blamed McDonald's for his bloated body and dodgy health. Now he's using his 30-day premise to get Americans to ingest his version of radical Islam on cable's FX Network.Last year, I received a request to appear on Mr. Spurlock's new reality show, "30 Days." The episode for which I was being recruited, "Inside an American Muslim Family," airs next Wednesday. It features Mr. Spurlock's childhood friend from West Virginia, David Stacy, spending 30 days "living as a Muslim" in the Detroit area.
While Mr. Spurlock is often referred to as a journalist, and touts "30 Days" as a "documentary," the outcome of the show was decided before production began. A show summary sent to me before taping said: "This process aims to deconstruct common misconceptions and stereotypes. . . . Our character will learn firsthand about Islam and the daily issues that . . . Muslims in America face today. The viewers will witness our character emerge from the immersion situation with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the Muslim-American experience. . . . The potential is great for this program to enlighten a national television audience about the Muslim American experience and increase their compassion, understanding and support."
And indeed, The Wall Street Journal's own Dorothy Rabinowitz, writing about the show last week from a preview tape, noted that Mr. Stacy, by the end of his 30 days, "has become so enlightened that he is pronouncing, if incomprehensibly, on the meaning of Islam, his knowledge of the Quran, the real definition of jihad."
I asked the show's executive producers--all of whom worked on "The Awful Truth With Michael Moore," a cable TV show--how this could be a documentary when they had decided the outcome in advance. Wasn't it possible that Mr. Stacy would come out seeing that there isn't Islamophobia to the extent that the Muslim community claims? Might he see that there is disturbingly strong support in the Detroit-area Islamic community for terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah--a fact regularly documented even in the normally pliant Detroit media?
No, the producers told me. "Morgan wants the show to demonstrate to America that we are Islamophobic and that 9/11's biggest victims are Muslims."
Read it all. Don't fail to do so. Don't make me come to your house and give you a quiz, now.
Does anybody know who finances these shows? What are their financial ties/interests? Do "intelligence" agencies look into this? It is akin to allowing Hitler the rights to produce shows in the Western Allies countries during the war.

I have an more real answer to what Mr. Spurlock is, and an answer for Mr. Spencer. These Americans are called "traitors" by the definitions of Abrham Lincoln, and other founders of our country. He's lucky he lives in a democracy where he can puke forth simplicities of simple minded premedictated viewpoints of the "deception of the nature of Islam"......but Ohhhhhh, I forget to include the word "deception" in my documentary to be "unbiased".
Where's the US publics hangman's nuice when we need it? The more modern we go, the dumber we get. As the rolling stones put it, "sympathy for the devil," That's what Mr. Spurlock is providing. I assume, no US soldier's family will fill the free tickets given out for the front row seat? He's a bastard of unimaginalble proportions. Time will prove the truth, as that is always self evident, especially after an explosion of an atomic (God Forbid), or dirty bomb in this country. Shocking as it sounds the religion of peace, is speedily developing or has the capability to do just that, and I hope they plant it under this bastards house do he can be a martyr like his buddies he makes merry with.
If he is as much of a propagandist for Islam as he appears to be, then his show should be cancelled. Who are the sponsors? And who will make known to those sponsors that viewers and non-viewers alike take as dim a view of those who propagandize in such a manner as they would, had their been television shows in the late 1930s, take of those who sponsored programs showing red-cheeked Hitler Youth out for a thoroughly healthy tramp in the heather, or doing mass calisthenics or sieg-heiling you-know-who. No, those sponsors must be made to suffer, until Morgan Spurlock is reduced to eating -- this time not for a documentary, but out of economic necessity -- all of his meals at Macdonald's, and Burger King, and the fast food places run by that brevetted Kentucky Colonel whom we all keep confusing with the man who managed Elvis Presley.
Unfortunately I will probably end up watching this because I feel I have a need to see how ignorant some people can really be.
The sponsors of the show need to know though, that this kind of propaganda is not welcome and that the American public can make our wishes known through our pocketbooks.

"Super Size Me" really was pretty good, folks. Especially where his girlfriend complains about him being a dud in bed... you should rent it.
I'd like to see Spurlock dress a Muslim up as a Hasidic Jew and go live in Dearborn, Michigan or one of those Muslim-majority neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Or better yet, in one of the "Muslim Ghettos" of Europe, and BEST STILL in Tehran, Cairo, or Mecca.
Or pretend to be a Jew, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, woman, homosexual, apostate, atheist, infidel, or other misfit in any Muslim-majority nation. Of course, the title would have to be changed from "Unreal For 30 Days" to "Unreal For 30 Minutes."
Spurlock, this uniformed 30-day wonder, the new "expert" on Islam, is more than an apologist, he has become a propagandist, giving the American public untrue and dangerous misinformation about the ideology that just might engulf and erase their hard-won freedoms.

Morgan Spurlock was a militant Vegan prior to Supersize me. The experience in the movie changed him and he is no longer a Vegan. Interesting.....what will this movie change him into....are we going to see a metomorfus?
I consider this show to be spineless, since he will only do his show in America, where the muslims have civil rights, where "he" has civil rights, and where the islam he will see is the watered down version.
He needs to go to the madrassas of pakistan or iran and get the pure islam that our soldiers are dealing with, and what Isreal has to live with. And should it with hidden camera, and a honest translator (we all know how good of actors muslims become once on camera).

I'm more along the lines of WOG's posting, having served this country for 20 years, I've never encountered a people more ready to kill there own; women, children, elderly, doesn't matter, as long as there is even a remote chance they can injure or kill an American. How mature some of the posters here are. Of course if he is trying to portray Islam as some kind of persecuted religion is something I cannot support, but alot of his work on Supersize Me and the 30 Days TV show is good. Modern factory farming and fast food is just disgusting, on the Extras to Supersize Me the author of "Fast Food Nation" was interviewed and he stated that the average fast food hamburger has meat from 1000 different cows. My only real experience with farming was from visiting relatives in Greek villages where no factory farming is practiced and where there is plenty of space, chickens are such disgusting animals, that when one of them poops, another often runs behind and eats the poop of the other chicken. Imagine what they eat when they are shoulder to shoulder with other chickens with no room to move, they peck each others limbs and then eat it, according to a documentary I saw while on vacation on Greek TV in 2001, at the height of the Mad Cow scare. As if that is not disgusting enough in modern factory farms whenever a cow or other animal dies they have the ingenious solution to increase profits and dispose of the body by grinding it up and then mixing it with the animal feed. Good way to spread diseases and increase profit.
One thing Morgan Spurlock did on 30 days for an episode was work as an unskilled laborer making minimum wage along with his girlfriend. They failed that experiment and ended up heavy in debt by the end of the month, mostly because of hospital visits due to an injury Morgan sustained to his hand while landscaping. According to a therapist I know, the way medical insurance works in the US is, massive insurance firms use their huge customer base to pay what they want, and the actual charges of a given hospital. If a heart transplant costs $5000, Hartford says we will only cover $3000 for example, and we have a customer base of 40 million. So the hospitals cope with this by just increasing prices for the uninsured who are poorer and can afford it less. In that 30 days episode on the itemized hospital receipt Morgan was charged over 20 dollars for a simple band-aid.
Just because he tries to portray muslims as persecuted in the United States, does not mean everything he does is garbage. Try thinking for yourselves and maybe you can seperate one of his shows from all his other work, which alot of you have not seen from your comments, but you just bash anyway since you all know everything.
Morgan was not a Vegan, his girlfriend was/is.

The danger lies in "some good" that Morgan does. Partial truth is never the whole story.
The example of Supersize was good, if not great.
But remember it as a HEALTH issue. To much of any one thing is not good. He used licensed doctors as the definition of health, and to translate the changes that were occuring to his body and what dangers he was facing.
Dealing with islam is a issue of ideology and indoctrination, or in our current situation nation security, at a time of war.
Who is he going to use as a neutral third party base? Who is going to give him input or affects?
Would he have used a McDonalds paid employee to give him health implications and affects for Supersize? No, it would not have been neutral or third party. So who will he use for his muslim story? a muslim iman? a persecuted CAIR worker?
Go back and read the end of the movie Supersize Me when all of the credits are running. You will see in comments the statement "60 days after finishing the filming Morgan gave up being a Vegan and now eats meat".
