U.S. Uncovers Vast Hide-Out of Iraqi Rebels

From the New Duranty Times:

BAGHDAD, Iraq, June 4 - American marines have discovered an elaborate series of underground bunkers used recently by insurgents in central Iraq, with heavy weapons, a kitchen and fresh food, furnished living quarters, showers and even a working air-conditioner, the military said Saturday.

The bunkers were built into an old rock quarry north of the town of Karma, an insurgent stronghold in Anbar Province that lies near the city of Falluja. The bunker system is 558 feet by 902 feet, nearly equal to a quarter of the Empire State Building's office space, making it the largest underground insurgent hide-out to be discovered in at least the past year, if not during the entire war, said Capt. Jeffrey S. Pool, a spokesman for the Second Marine Division...

Insurgent attacks in Anbar and elsewhere continued Saturday.

A roadside bomb exploded in the center of Falluja at 9 a.m., killing an Iraqi soldier, wounding two others, and damaging several homes, an Interior Ministry official said. Farther north, in Mr. Hussein's hometown, Tikrit, a suicide bomber detonated his vehicle at the entrance to an American base, killing at least five Iraqi soldiers and wounding seven others, the official said.

Guerrillas also carried out assaults in the capital, where the Iraqi government has been trying to restore order by increasing the number of checkpoints throughout the city and assigning tens of thousands of police and soldiers to the streets in a move called Operation Lightning. In western Baghdad, three men killed a driver near the road to the airport and stuffed a bomb in the trunk of his car, the Interior Ministry official said. When the police arrived on the scene, the bomb exploded, wounding two of the policemen...

A simple connect-the-dots exercise:
The left-loved "great insurgent leader" Zarqawi's admittedly dead; simulatneous raids by the USMC in the border areas butting syria and saudi net many islamofascists; bunkers that jihadis use to target civilians in suicide madness are exposed; some sunnis even begin to make noises against the islamofascists.... Whoa, won't we kinda like to believe that maybe the US i doing sopme good there and achieveing some success? The thundering silence about this aspect of analysis from the mainstream media is tragic indeed.

We're patient.
We are pissed.
And we're pugnacious.

Get 'em Army!

Get 'em Marines!

Get 'em Air Force!

Maybe the average Iraqis are also losing their Islamic fatalism a little bit and growing a long-overdue backbone.

Root the jihadi s.o.b.'s out of their holes, line them up, and let the Iraqi military form the firing squads. (They need a little payback for all of their unarmed recruits killed over the past year.)

This looks like the turning point.

Osama's sorry ass is next!

I doubt actual users of the bunker were
Muslim terrorists,the article said there
all the amenities to survive, even SHOWERS?

That should have been the first tip-off,the Militant wing of Islam has devoted followers that will wash their feet befor prayer, but don't
expect personal hygene north of the feet to be a big priority.
"FatBoy" Sadr had the whole package, yellow teeth, bad breath, same clothes for a month, unkept toe nails, flea infested beard, and those dirty little pudgy hands that raise that sacred Holy book to praise his God for killing civilians.

It's a religion of peace,remember.

Gee. This is getting interesting. I thought the Jihadis was supposed to be running circles around us; yet when they have such fine hideouts and a "sympathetic" populace in which everyone has an AK to fire off when the home team scores a soccer goal, they've inflicted only a few days' worth of WWII casualties on us (not to belittle the sacrficies our troops are making, you understand), and, statistically speaking, are far less dangerous to young Americans than the highway system at home. Could it be the NYTimes reported this one only because it's getting more likely that they won't have their wonderful Vietnam-esque quagmire they've been drooling for?
