The myth of Islamic tolerance is invoked as proof that all the recent (and older) stories about Saudis persecuting Christians must be wrong.

CAIRO, Egypt - A Saudi official denied allegations that the kingdom has arrested and tortured Christians, saying such actions run counter to Islamic tolerance.The remarks to the official Saudi Press Agency came in response to reports in Iranian papers of recent arrests.
The official, who spoke to SPA on condition of anonymity, said the allegations "don't go with the principals [sic] and values of the kingdom and above all our tolerant Islamic belief which guarantees the rights of Muslims and residents of different religions and ethnicities alike."
That official was later seen with a nose grown to at least six feet long. Even granting that Islamic belief allows for the practice of non-Muslim religions, albeit severely circumscribed, Saudi Arabia has always been different -- ever since the Prophet Muhammad told his followers to allow only one religion on the Arabian Peninsula. And this official knows that. He is banking on Western ignorance and naive multiculturalist good will. And he will be able to get a lot of mileage out of those things.

Everytime I am told about Saudi "tolerance", all I cn recall is the road to Mecca. More precisely, the exit sign on the highway that says, at the entrance to the city: "Muslims". And sign at the exit fork bypassing the city "Non-Muslims, Jews and Pigs". Okay, I made part about the "Jews and Pigs" up, but it might as well have been up there.

Tolerance: Term used in Saudi Arabia referring to burning the Christian Bible, torturing infadels, suicide bombing Jews, and stoning non-believers to death, praise be allah.

At least the U.S. State Department does officially acknowledge that freedom of religion does not exist in Saudia Arabia unless you are a Muslim. The Saudi PR mouth peaces have got to be experts in the use of taquiya and kitman but boy it sure has worn thin over the past few years since 9-11. Saudi representatives have argued that it is okay for non-muslims to practice their religion in the privacy of the residences and yet the mustafas' (religious police) have broken into homes while being led by muslim clerics and arrested Christians praying in their residences .
In one case a Catholic from the Phillipines was arrested and was whipped and spent 7 months in a Saudi Prison and was then forced to convert to Islam before being released-- The evidence against him was based on a photograph of him leading a prayer in his private residence.

I am speechless, almost. I noticed that the Saudis were responding to "reports in Iranian papers about recent arrests." Surely, the Iranian newspapers were reporting on one of the few points of agreement between these two Islamofacists regimes. Both believe that non-Muslims should be persecuted as often and as harshly as possible. Iran does officially permit other religions but they also fine, imprison, torture and kill non-Muslims with equal zeal regardless of whether the non-Muslims are Iranian Zorastians, Jews, Christians, Mandaeans or Bahais.

Exactly...I never tire of pointing out the obvious, "Islam creates psychotic episodes in believers". All you have to do is "look" to see it. You "looked" and you "saw". You are "enlightened". So are others on this site.
This "enlightenment", needs to be generalised into the public. The internet is the prime tool to do that. Keep up the good work...

The English language edition of the Arab News regularly runs stories of Christians being jailed in Saudi Arabia. I know that some of the stories in the Arabic language edition are different because the pictures and layouts do not always match.This may be the kind of story that is not printed in the Arabic edtion.
I also know that a lot of my coworkers are unaware of a lot of policies that affect foreign workers here.
