WASHINGTON -- The chance of an attack with a weapon of mass destruction somewhere in the world in the next 10 years runs as high as 70 percent, arms experts have predicted in a U.S. survey.Most of the more than 80 experts surveyed in the report released on Tuesday believed one or two new countries will acquire nuclear weapons in the next five years, with two to five countries joining the nuclear club during the next decade.
The survey, commissioned by U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Richard Lugar, also showed that four out of five people said their country was not spending enough on non-proliferation efforts.
The most likely scenario for a nuclear attack would be for terrorists to use a weapon they made themselves with material acquired on the black market, the survey said.
"The results underscore the need to improve security around tactical nuclear weapons and nuclear material in Russia and expand our ability to detect transfer of weapons or materials from rogue states to terrorist organizations," said a summary of a report outlining the survey results...

The terms "terrorist" and "rogue state" do not unambiguously identity the individuals and groups that threaten the United States with WMD attack. And how can an adequate policy of deterrence be fashioned if the real threat is not identified?
Is North Korea a WMD threat? Maybe, but North Korea has not committed itself to acquiring and devilvering WMD to American soil. The Stalinist regime might be considered an accute WMD threat to the United States insofar as it serves as an ally to groups that have made that committment.
And what "groups" are those? "Terrorist groups"?
Policy makers endanger American lives and the existence of our very society because they do not identify the enemy. What will it take? Why can't our leaders say what must be said?

The impression I get is that U.S. military deserters will get short shrift in Canada. This comes from a variety of articles in various news papers (granted I don't read the Toronto Star). The general opinion seems to be since they weren't drafted into the military, they knew exactly what was in store - i.e. the posibility of a shooting war. I just hope Hinzman's appeal fails.

I wouldn't have a problem at all to detain and to deport Irene Khan (after an appropriate prison sentence for sedition) of Amnesia Intentional.
Irene Khan is a Mohammedan and has chosen to promote their agenda.
I would suggest to also arrest those at Newsweep and Time magazine who openly damage the interest of the US and play into the hands of the enemy.
I could be wrong, but I suppose:
1) uranium-enriching bases in Iran must and should be destroyed by either the US or Israel very soon, a fully-nuclear Iran would probably be the most dangerous development;
2) also Pakistan's nuclear capabilities should be taken care of, although it's not very clear how to do so, since they're sort-of-"allies" and there's the question of neighbor nuclear India as well;
3) That leaves North Korea and the ex-Soviet Union, from where a bomb or nuclear material could be stolen. Not sure what to do about that.

Actually, I'd say you're an optimist.
I don't think it's going to be anywhere close to "10 or 20 years" before that happens.
I give it more like 5 to 7.
Unfortunately, that's also what it's going to take for us to get serious about this war. Until a major city is destroyed, you can forget any fantasies about rounding up Muslims and deporting them, because the rest of the world (not to mention half of Americans) simply wouldn't stand for it.
After we lose a few hundred thousand citizens, however, all bets are off.

Reminds me of a childhood incident involving my neurotic brother who often complained about my heavy breathing. Once when we were in the car, my father responded to his frivolous complaint about my heavy breathing by deliberately breathing heavily himself. I then happened to leave the car for about 20 minutes. They have been told to run a series of adds saying how they caused people to "hate" and "vilify" Muslims.
So in effect the court has convicted them for vilifying, but in the sentance they have to vilify themselves through a series of adds (which will cause people to vilify and hate them).

Forget it. Muslims will ralley to it just like Americans rallied to 9/11. More than anything, the suggestion is in poor taste. Not that I care for Mecca per se, but these kinds of statements are constantly used as evidence against JW.
I would much sooner destroy Saudi Arabia's oil wells (Occupying them is out of the question. Just look at Iraq). The tactical advantage of eliminating Saudi Arabia's main source of jihad funding is not only more practical, it is more humane.

This was the whole philosopy behind our Cold War defense and I think it is a legitimate response to a WMD attack as all gloves come off in such an event. And your call of destroying the Saudi oilfields is hardly the measured response Americans would be looking for as a reprisal to a WMD attack. No, I think the eye for an eye, nuke for a nuke policy is something the Jihadis can understand and fear.

Let me state at the outset that I never shed tears over the morons that get trampled during the Haj, and that few things would make me happier than to see Mecca destroyed (by Muslims fighting each other).
However, military objectives are troops, army bases, bridges, and other kinds of infrastructure. In other words, nuking Mecca is terrorism, pure and simple.
You may present Mecca as a symbol of Islam whose destruction would hurt the morale of Muslims (kind of like Dresden for the Germans), but the threat to "nuke Mecca" can also be interpreted as a declaration of war against all Muslims. Tactical considerations aside (the wrath of one billion people), that (symbolically) puts us on the same level as the terrorist who declare war on all Americans.
Islam is the enemy, but its biggest victims are Muslims. Most of those who were raised with Islam have my pity. All of those who converted to Islam have my contempt.
If Saudi Arabia continues its double game, let's knock off their oil wells one by one. That is a legitimate target because they use oil wealth to fund our enemies.

Muslims know that this world, created by Allah, (swt) will also be brought to an end by Him, and that it will be followed by a new world in which all people will be resurrected and brought to account for their beliefs, words and deeds. The precise timing of the end of the world is known only to Allah (swt).
"They ask you about the Hour, when will its coming be? Say : its knowledge is only with my Lord. None will reveal it at its time save Him. [Its knowledge] is weighty upon the [inhabitants of the] heavens and the earth. It will not come to you except suddenly. They ask you as if you are well-informed about it. Say : Its knowledge is only with Allah, but most of mankind do not know."[Qur’an, 7:187]
Note the words “It will not come to you except suddenly”. This can only happen with nuclear weapons and they will be available by the bucket load to all and his dog in the next 2 decades. And lets be honest about it, the US (and the West) is gonna be powerless to spread this proliferation and ultimately the destruction of man.
Allah and the Prophet have told us of some of the signs which indicate that the Hour is approaching, drawing nearer. In the Gabriel Hadith, the angel Gabriel asks
"Tell me about the Hour."
The Prophet replied, "The questioned one is not more knowledgeable about it than the questioner," whereupon Gabriel said, "Then tell me about its signs."
These signs are categorized into minor and major signs.
Hadith 1 On the authority of Anas : the Prophet (PBUH) said, "Among the portents of the Hour is that people will compete with one another in [building and decorating] mosques." [Nasa'i]
Hadith 2 On the authority of Anas ibn Malik : He said : I heard the Messenger of Allah D say, "Indeed, among the portents of the Hour are that knowledge will decrease, ignorance will abound, adultery will become widespread, wine will be drunk, and men will be few and women will be many, to the extent that there will be a single provider for fifty women." [Bukhari and Muslim]
Those fifty women need not necessarily all be his wives (which is not allowed in Islam, of course). Although some people may come to falsely legitimize it (as was done by a ruler during the time of al-Qurtubi), it seems probable that among the fifty will be not only wives, but also mother, daughters, sisters, aunts, and the like.
Hadith 3 "Time will contract (i.e. it will appear to be shorter, and its blessings will vanish, such that people will accomplish less in more time), knowledge will be lifted up, stinginess will be cast [into people’s hearts], tribulations will appear, and killing will be much." [Ahmad, Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud].
Hadith 4 "Make haste to do [good] deeds before six [things] :
[1] the leadership of fools,
[2] the proliferation of police / government agents,
[3] the selling of judgement,
[4] blood being taken lightly,
[5] severance of [ties of] kinship,
[6] people who will take the Qur’an as music, sending ahead one of them to sing for them, even though he may be least of them in knowledge/understanding [of the religion]." [Ahmad, Tabarani]
Here are the Major Signs
Count six before the Hour :
[1] my death,
[2] then the conquest of Jerusalem,
[3] then a [wholesale] death which will take from you like qu`as al-ghanam [a disease which afflicts sheep, leaving them dead],
[4] then the abundance of wealth to the extent that a man will be given 100 dinar but remain unhappy [i.e. inflation],
[5] then a tribulation [which is such that] no house of the Arabs will remain without it entering,
[6] then a truce which will occur between you and the Romans, and then they will prove treacherous, such that they will come to you beneath 80 banners, under each banner 12,000 [men]." [Bukhari]
Whether or not we witness all of these signs, we should realize that once we die - and the time of death is uncertain - the Hour has effectively come for us.
So please correct your beliefs, repent from our sins, increase our knowledge of Islam, and strive to do more good deeds so as to strengthen our iman and draw nearer to Allah.
One can only wish for Allah (swt) to save us from the worst of the trials and tribulations. In this respect it is probably best to be in a country like Pakistan…at least you will get it in the neck quickly and early….*YOU* will be the people who will have to live and really suffer the after affects….but you were the ones who couldn’t wait to have them…completely ignorant that other people (no matter what their disposition) will get them too.

I was listening to the Michael Medved show yesterday and his last guest was a muslim apologist from the Seattle area. The guys first name was Jeff but the last name was ethnically unidentifiable although his accent had an Indian or Sri Lankan twang. He was a salesman by trade so he was a natural flim flam man and completely transparent to all but the very gullible. Amazingly, Medved, who knows better, let this guy cruise through with hardly a tough question. A caller made a stab at it but fell short. This muslim was a walking cliche but nobody laid a glove on him. Too bad, as it was a perfect chance show him for the charlatan that he is. I could not get in to the show but I wanted to ask him a simple question. What do you think of the Bible quote,"By their fruits you shall know them."?
