The Canadian Security Intelligence Service, counterpart of the CIA, said terrorist representatives are actively raising money, procuring weapons, "manipulating immigrant communities" and facilitating travel to and from the United States and other countries.
Besides al-Qaida, those groups include Islamic Jihad; Hezbollah and other Shiite groups; Hamas, the Palestinian Force 17, Egyptian Al Jihad and various other Sunni groups from across the Middle East, CSIS said.

If you think all we need worry about is "terror" and therefore we need only conduct a "war on terror" then you should breathe a sigh of relief that such places as France and Italy have apparently been given a pass by the Grand Panjandrum in Waziristan.
But perhaps you aren't quite so sure that the problem is only "terror" and the only answer the "war on terror." Perhaps, as the mosques are built, the minarets raised, the muezzin's wail heard more and more frequently, the numbers of those whose dearest wish (aside from going to circumambulate widdershins, seven times, the Magic Wonderstone in Mecca) is to islamize the whole wide not-yet-wonderful world, including whatever incidental Infidel country those new arrivals (or old ones, who have discovered the Peace that Passeth Understanding of Islam) happen to be living in and happen to exploiting its tolerance, liberality, easygoing ways, guarantees of inidividual rights that were put in place by people who would not have lasted one minute under Islam, as all this happens, as it is happening in Western Europe, and demands for this and for that from those same Muslims become ever more aggressive -- as all this happens, you may begin to bethink yourself, and decide that perhaps something more than "terror" threatens, and that Italy, and France, though off the list of the Big Five of Mr. Big, are threatened in other ways, ways that can, over time, guarantee the loss of those countries to Islam, and a change in the way of life, in the pleasantness of that life, in the expense of that life, in the freedom from physical insecurity of that life, that will gradually turn those countries --gradually, but inexorably -- into something like, oh, possibly the best the Muslim world has to offer. Tunisia? Turkey? Possibly Lebanon. You choose which country you would like Italy to look like. Or France.
Israel is strangely absent from this particular list. I know that Bernie Lewis's opinions aren't unimpeachable, but he does maintain that Israel really isn't the #1 grievance. Rather it's the most popular because it's the one sanctioned by Arab/Muslim governments in what should be transparent to all -- a safe diversion from the problems at home.
The focus on the so-called war on terror leaves us vulnerable to other opportunities for Jihad. Longtime readers here on JW and other sites such as FrontpageMagazine know that the Jihad is conducted through less dramatic modes: the infiltration of schools and universities; through the economic system: banking and oil; through Da'wa: mosques and community outreach; through the manipulation of the corridors of power: influence peddling in Congress, manipulation of the FBI and other bureaucracies; through "sensitivity training" of local police, healthcare workers, schools teachers, etc.
We are under attack from without and from within. Americans only have to cast their gaze across the Atlantic to see the plight of Europeans that are being strangled by Islam. Islam has made inroads also in Canada and Australia through attempts to prevent strife among the religions as those countries have passed "vilification" laws that are meant to protect all but essentially only protect Islam from criticism.
Okay, the US, UK and Oz, I can understand. Spain already got it and grabbed its ankles so I don't quite understand that one. But I really don't understand why Canada is on the list. I mean, it's just so Islam-friendly. They don't lock up their "refugees" like we do. They seem to just open the door and let them wander freely. The most populous province is still pondering whether to allow sharia. They have built-in anti-religious-vilification laws nation-wide through its obsessive PCness. They're so anti-US. So liberal. So why Canada? Because it allows same sex marriages?
Besides, if it's home to 50 terror groups, wouldn't that be like pooping in your own nest? It's a perfect staging ground for hitting the US with the next attack. Nice and safe and comfy and tolerated and funded by taxpayers. You can busily sit around plotting the next big attack against the Great Satan without having to be interrupted by annoying things like working for a living. It doesn't make sense.

I think Canada because we sent troops to assist in the invasion of Afghanistan that resulted in the defeat of the Taliban, and bin Laden, being as mentally disturbed as he is, revises the list with great regularity.
I can only hope that canada will react like a jilted lover once the multi culti bug bites it in the ass.
Canada has long basked in the protective US defense shield but a war fought on the inside, like terror attacks on canadian cities, wont be something the US can help them with.

By declaring Canada a "christian" nation Canada's liberal muzzie-coddling elites with probably blame christians on the jihad declared against them.
If the CSIS is aware of these terrorist groups freely operating in Canada, why don't they shut them down?! Am I missing something here?
Sounds like Canada is a haven for derelicts, criminals and other assorted sociopaths, but they do love diversity. If they're not going to bust the terror organizations and deport or imprison the terrorists, I sure hope they let us know when they're headed our way.
Susan, Yes you are missing something. We are so bleeding heart politically correct in the God forsaken Canada that we will believe any lie and accept anything but truth. I am always in hot water over my comments regarding Islam and my quoting of the ill written and read Quran. Why don't you guys south of the border do what we don't have the guts to do - kick the whole evil bunch of them out of the country. It is the ONLY way to stop them!

Canada has, sadly, long been a refuge for every sort of nasty scum, from Nazis fleeing justice at the end of WW II to Palestinian terrorists. Why? Probably because our POV on immigration was based on a country having a great deal of geography and a rather small population and also because Canada was, due to its climate, a less popular place to immigrate to than the US.
