The 46-minute video opens with old footage of bin Laden. The narrator says the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq was unjust and refers to President Bush as an "idiot" for announcing an end to major combat in May 2003. The voice says the war "has just started" and declares that the US aim is to "humiliate Muslims and to obliterate the rituals of this religion."
Yeah, like beheading, institutionalized discrimination against non-Muslims and women, suicide bombing, and the like. What an alarming lack of multiculturalist sensitivity.
But as for the idea that the war has just started, from the jihadist standpoint this makes perfect sense. Considering oneself part of a 1,400-year-old movement tends to endow one with patience. Zarqawi's men are not likely to accept the new Iraqi government at any time, no matter how much time passes and how successfully it governs. They understand themselves to be carrying out the will of Allah, and will continue to do so without being deterred by setbacks or pacified by negotiated settlements.

In as much as he, Zarqawi and his ilk, intend to humiliate and obliterate the rituals of other religions on the world stage, the battle is Iraq is one of self-defense.
He is engaging in taqiyya and kitman. His statement leaves out the fact that the war did not "Just star." The war has continued in fits and starts for generations and will continue to do so as long as the concept of jihad exits...forever.

While normal people create things, by writing music, building hospitals, penning literature, designing space craft, inventing medicines, making archeological and paleontological discoveries, and generally by supporting their families through honest and industrious employment, the enemies of reality and Civilization find their meaning in obliterating the work of others.
