The war on terror was being lost and Australia was next in line as a terrorist target, according to the Australian Arabic Council, a secular group claiming to be a voice of the Arab world in Australia.While there was disagreement on the threat to Australia, there was universal condemnation of the bombings from Australia's Islamic spiritual leaders.
AAC chairman Roland Jabbour condemned the London bombings as inexcusable but said it was time for Western countries to reflect on the fact that the war on terror was being lost. Australia, because of its support for the US and Britain, was next in line for an attack, he said in a statement.
"Since the formal declaration of the war we have seen an unprecedented number of major terrorist events," he said. It had been reported that the number of what the US Government considers significant attacks grew to about 655 last year, up from the previous record of about 175 in 2003.
"The war on terror must address the root causes of terror, injustice, poverty, disenfranchisement and genuine grievances of many about the militaristic power exerted by Western nations led by the US, Britain and Australia. Policies such as the blind support of Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine and the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan feed fundamentalism and have established fertile breeding grounds for extremism.

Yes, yes, poverty, disenfranchisement, Israel. We have heard it all many, many times before -- despite the fact that Osama is a very rich man, and that study after study shows that jihad terrorists are generally better educated and reasonably well off. And what of all the jihads being fought today thousands of miles from Israel?

As for losing the war on terror, what exactly are secular Muslims doing to help? Are they fingering the mad mullahs who preach jihad? Are they fingering the phony charities that raise money for jihad? Are they calling for political resolution of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians? Are they decrying the slaughter of Muslims by other Muslims in Darfur or Pakistan? Are they demanding that Muslim countries deal in a transparent manner and respect human rights, especially those of the few minorities remaining.
Maybe Jabbour and others like him have a bit of reflecting to do themselves.
Its amazing how many times these Muslims can repeat themselves. Its the same thing over and over again. If it wasnt Israel it would be something else. When will these people take responsability for their actions.

Remember Ramzi Ahmed Yousef? He studied engineering at Swansea University in Wales from 1986 to 1989. Soon after college he went to Afghanistan to train in guerrilla fighting camps under Odama bin Laden. He is currently in prison for the first World Trade Center bombing. He recruited all of his followers in Jersy City. He also got one of his Palestinian boyhood friends to come up from Dallas, Texas to join the group and be the driver of the Ryder truck that held the explosives.
Maybe we should only allow Muslims to major in Home Economics....and after granduating they can write a cookbook on the "Art of Cooking Pork" rather than writing instructional manuals about "How to get the Biggest Bang from Cow $$-hit!
