From the UK Express:
Prime Minister Tony Blair said that a No 10 meeting of Muslim community leaders had agreed to deal "head-on" with extremism based on a perversion of Islam that can lead to terrorism. He said there would be a network of people prepared to take on arguments within the Muslim community and confront "this evil ideology and defeat it by the force of reason".
Opposition leaders Michael Howard and Charles Kennedy were also at the talks, along with Foreign Secretary Jack Straw.
Mr Kennedy said that setting up a new task force to tackle the issue was to be considered.
Mr Blair said after the meeting, which lasted about an hour: "The meeting revolved around a very strong desire of people from right across the Muslim community in our country to be united, not just in a condemnation of the terrible terrorist attacks here in London but also to confront and deal with head-on the extremism that is based on a perversion of the true faith of Islam but nonetheless is real within parts of our community here in this country.
"nonetheless real" - bravo Tony, you're getting warmer.
"There was a strong desire from everybody there to make sure we establish the right mechanisms for people to be able to go into the community and confront this."They will be people who are going to be supported by the rest of us but from the community, able to talk to the Muslim community and confront this evil ideology, take it on and defeat it by the force of reason.
"I think that's the best thing we can do and there was a very strong sense that we needed to come together behind that."
People "supported by the rest of us but from the community." We would really like to see their arguments before you send these folks forth, Mr. Prime Minister. We doubt that you truly appreciate the enormity of the task you have set before them. Good luck.
Yes, Tony, that's why you are allowing suicide-bombing advocate, al-qaradawi into the country next month.
Allowing a top ranking jihadist into a Western country is okay, as long as it is done for the purpose of tracking his every move---it's better than having him as a loose cannon somewhere in the Middle East, like Zarqawi.
The bigger problem is Imam Blair's approach to Islam and Muslims. He probably didn't even bother reading the Qur'an, but he can ASSURE us that Islam is a religion of peace. Too bad they can't do a recall and kick this suicidal dhimmi clown out of office. I'm sure now they ruing the day they voted for Blair and rejected Howard.
The so called muslim leaders are already trying to use the London bombings for leverage and Blair is falling for it ..hook, line and sinker. Everything is about them...everything.
Tell us precisely in what way this "extremism that is based on a perversion of the true faith of Islam" manages to pervert it? Is there some tampering with the texts? Is there some outlandish, absurd yet sinisterly deliberate misunderstanding of the passages of the Qur'an, the stories in the Hadith, the details of Muhammad's life? Which things have those "extremists" in offering their "pervresion of the true faith" illegitimately failed to point out, or what things have they unduly emphasized -- let's get right to chapter and verse, so these perverters of Islam can be held up to the general ridicule of the learned scholars of Islam, the ulama, and the world-wide Community of Believers, the umma, and then we can laugh to scorn all those crazed interpreters who wipe their glosses with ideas made up out of whole cloth, and the result of course, is a blind faith in a completely ridiculous, fabricated doctrine, having nothing to do with the "real" Islam, the unthreatening, peaceful, tolerant, and kindly Islam which the "vast and overwhelming majority" of Muslims, those "decent and law-abiding" people all over the United Kingdom, from Lands End right up to the Orkneys, who could never ever conceivably wish any harm to come to Infidels, and fit right in to English society and the English polity, in precisely the same way, and to the same degree, as all the tens of millions of "decent and law-abiding" non-Muslims.
Ideology? We are going to “confront this evil ideology” and “defeat it by the force of reason?” This means there will be an examination of the statements put forth by those that advocate this ideology. Arguments with reference to the facts will have to be considered. History must be examined. Logic must be used. This sounds great!
Now who does Mr. Blair have in mind to coordinate this effort? Why do I have a lingering doubt about this?
Hugh, he is going to set up a Quango to deal with Islam, bold move Tony, jobs for the boys, lots of Muslims will now sit around a desk getting paid well for attending and offering their views to well-meaning but unknowing civil servants. It will be all talk, lots of announcements and hot air and mis-information and nothing will be done, it will just give the impression that something is being done, isn't that right Tony, smart move.
Still clueless at Downing. Enuf said.

Too bad we don't hear any "moderates" planning to purge all Islamic texts from all psychological seeds of hate and violence. Islam is all about deception and "image" isn't it?
My suggestion for Iman Tony: Buy a mirror for each Moslem in the U.K., so they can more easily confront evil.
Down here in Texas, we round up the cattle all together. Then we separate the calves from the herd with a cutting horse. Then we brand all the calves and castrate the males. We send the older steers and unproductive females to be fed for market.
Blair and Bush are just good old cowboys. They are separating the muslims into two groups. They have to be subtle about it, let the muslims mostly separate themselves. B & B will state over and over that there are lots and lots of moderate muslims, and we will protect them. Then they will let the muzzies argue the point publicly. If moderates reveal themselves and actually take steps against the radicals, then great. If they don't, then they have proven the point that they are only talkin' and ain't walkin' and the public will see it openly. Don't give up on them yet. When the time is right, the castrating will start.
Well, there is another excellent phrase from close, I presume, to the Rio Grande, that many of us know and love. If Blair and Bush are not being diabolically cunning, and their other acts, including their failure to work to diminish Saudi revenes, suggests that they are not, then that acute saying should be applied to both of them: All hat and no cattle.
A day or two ago I heard Blair speaking on BBC radio. He was more forthright than any other major politician lately. He said that the Islamists cannot be reasoned with, that they want to install sharia law in as many nations as they can, and that they want to consolidate power under a global caliphate.
True, Blair may continue to claim that it's only a few radicals who support these ideas, but at least he's started down the right path. Bush is still spouting the "Islam is a religion of peace" mantra.
All hat and no cattle? Well, maybe so.
My agrument with Bush is that he hasn't done anything about the illegal aliens crossing into Texas (and Arizona, and California) by the millions. Some muslims have already been caught, but it is kept very quiet. We MIGHT be informed of the initial arrest (like the Pakistani with the South African passport and five thousand dollars in cash that got picked up in Laredo), but it quickly drops from the news.
In 1979, I went to test some survival gear by camping out in Big Bend (on the Rio Grande) one winter. I hired a Mexican to take me across the Rio Grande in a row boat. Only cost two dollars round trip. No customs. No border police. No rangers. Just him and me. I have thought about that for many years. I thought for a while about calling a local paper or TV station and showing them how easy it would be to smuggle a nuclear weapon OPENLY, across the border. But I figured people would think I was a nut case. Well, it doesn't seem so nutty now.
There were plenty of dead campfire coals and ashes in the higher banks along the river, obviously signal fires built to locate crossings. And the river south of Del Rio, near Lajitas could be crossed easily on foot if you knew where the quicksand was and avoided it. I was so frightened some nights that I put my 45 automatic on the dashboard. I would have rathered take my chances being stopped by the local police with an unlawful weapon that be stopped by the illegals (and drug runners) without one.
It's even worse now. But I can count well enough to know that there are not enough votes in congress to support closing the border, or doing the thousand things that you and I know are necessary to win this war.
We are not going to win by having someone go off half-cocked. Maybe we will have to have another big attack before the American people wake up and realize that all this multicultural tolerance could get us killed. We have allowed the liberals to spout all this everyone-is-equal and victims-are-better PC nonsense for so long that a lot of people have stopped thinking.
Is it time to lock and load?
Sorry, I meant to say El Paso, not Del Rio. Del Rio is another problem altogether.
I wouldn't be bragging about being a Texan, although I spent my early years there (during the Big one WWII) and have a lot of family in East Texas, best I can think of is that it is one of the most retarded states in the union, after all it gave us the Dhimmi in Chief, George W. Abd Saud (slave of the Saud's).
And it is also home to the hapless and hopeless Southern Independence Party whose "leader" is a pot bellied moron whose claim to fame is that he hates Jews and the Federal Government so much (because in his world it is Jew run), that he champions the cause of the Palestinians and Muslims (who are allied with him in his never ending battle against his hated Jew).
What has Texas given us besides heartburn and a headache.? And oh yeh, Houston is on the one to becoming one big masjid, it has the third largest population of Muslims in the U.S. just behind Detroit and Chicago.
Houston,Muslim fly trap, oil, Zapata, Arbusto, Baker Botts, Bush family, Saudis... hmmm, maybe you should read the likes of House of Bush House of Saud
Looks like Texas has bigger problems Hispanic Muslims
