For four years I've also reassured you that most Muslims here are moderate.I've even insisted they have some moderate Muslim leaders, and last week again endorsed Sheik Fehmi Naji El-Imam of Preston mosque as a man of peace.
How eager I was to praise. Heavens, I described as "moderate" the Melbourne-based Islamic Information Services Network of Australia (IISNA), which purged from its website articles I'd noted claiming democracy was a sin, Jews were behind September 11 and Western society was a pollution.
But was I just kidding myself? Isn't it becoming terribly clear that Islam -- at least the Islam of Australia's Arab sheiks and imams -- is hostile to our society?
Isn't it now obvious we should never have let into our country those imams who now preach hate?
Isn't the evidence that some cultures -- Muslim Arab ones -- pose more problems than their importation at this rate is worth? Isn't multiculturalism making these problems worse?
I know these are dangerous, hurtful questions. I also know many Muslims will feel deeply offended, loving this country and obeying its laws, and I wish only I heard from them far more often.
But the London bombings, perpetrated by home-grown Muslims, makes our silence on such issues not a sign of civility, but suicide.
So let me admit that the past few days have been terrible for those of us who thought we could count on Muslim leaders for real help against the Muslim extremists who threaten us...

The word "hurtful" is one of those adjectives that should be run out of town on a rail along with such nouns as "diversity" and phrases such as the unspeakable "international community."
As far as Muslims "loving this country and obeying its laws" there are two points to make. One can "love" the freedoms and all the opportunity that an Infidel country offers, and even insist that "this is our country" (which is in fact a menacing phrase, the menace not undrstood by Infidels, where the real and disturbing claim of rightful ossession by Muslims is being made, and the same is true for that phrase "we are here to stay" -- meaning, no matter what we do, or what we work towards, you have no right to dislodge us, or prevent us from doing this), and still work for the domination of that country by Islam, still work to change it into something that will no longer have the same political and social arrangements and freedoms. Muslims exploit the idea of pluralism as long as it is useful to them, but in the end they wish not pluralism but domination by Islam, and any Muslim who denies this is either wilfully ignorant of Islam, or wilfully bent on misleading Infidels about the tenets of Islam).
Furthermore, this "obeying the laws" business -- meaning paying taxes, not jay-walking, and so on -- is dwelled upon far too much. Yes, isn't it nice that Muslims do not join Hells' Angels or do a line of coke (though there are plenty of Muslims in the drug trade in France, Italy, and elsewhere). But if Muslins work to change the laws of the land, the most important laws of the land, the defense that some are "law-abiding" just won't cut the mustard. And in looking for terrorists, by the way, American police have discovered all kinds of credit-card scams, cigarette-smuggling, avoidance of taxes, an astonishing amount of crime (just look at Sydney, Australia, and the Muslim Lebanese who control so much of that city's criminal activities -- more power to the Mafia and the Chinese and Russian gangsters who may be able to deal with the Muslim malavita in a way the police cannot).

Would JW be able to organise a collection from its readers to pay to send to each politician a copy of "Eurabia" or Ibn Warraq's "Why I'm not a muslim?"

It's really too bad...but for the singular exception of Islamic supremicism to gum up the works, the multicultural paradigm is otherwise ideally suited for a society to integrate into a globalized world.
Things being what they are, a rejection of the mosaic and a return to the melting pot is the best way for the US to build a new societal cohesion and avoid the Balkanized nightmare that awaits Western Europe. And an indispensible facet of encouraging the melting pot is to end the assault on Western civilization occurring in the halls of academe.

I would be satisfied if any non-muslim country declared a moratorium on inbound Muslim immigration. It will be a start. France may just be the one that starts the ball rolling, as it is the most aggressive secular countries in the world.

AMEN!!!! I harp on the deleterious character of Multiculturalism constantly because I don't think most people understand what it really is. The doctrine of Multiculuralism is an insidious, aggressive, utopian blueprint that transcends the concepts of pluralism, tolerance, and equality. It is a radical dogma designed to remake the world, the most ambitious, delusional scheme ever contrived by elitist social engineers. Its ultimate and most cherished goal is to eradicate the white race.
The EU almost succeeded in establishing phase two of the universal plan and if the bureaucrats who created the abysmal EU constitution have their way, it will eventually be ratified by all EU members, one way or another. Canada was the trailblazer; Pierre Trudeau introduced Canada's multiculturalism policy in 1971, presumably because he believed that multiculturalism was the best way to prevent the creation of official cultures and promote cultural freedom for all Canadians.
Here is a direct quote from Mr. Trudeau right after he recognized Canada's two official languages, French and English: "A policy of multiculturalism should help break down discriminatory attitudes and cultural jealousies. National unity, if it is to mean anything in the deeply personal sense, must be founded on confidence in one's own individual identity; out of this can grow respect for that of others." In 1982, Multiculturalism became law in Canada and it holds the dubious distinction of being the first official multicultural society.

They didn't bother to study the historical failures of multiculturalism, and they didn't ever once consider that some cultures are simply incompatible with all others, namely Islam. But they won't give up or admit failure; they will never do that. They have come too far to let their insane folly be ruined by Islam and muslims.

SusanP has the goods on multiculturalism. What you may find attractive about a diversity of cultures is probably better described as multi-ethnic.
The multiculturalists would have you believe that all people are equal (and if they are not they should be made so), and all cultures are equal (except white, christian ones).
But, of course, the facts are otherwise for all who would look.
Some people are better than others, and some cultures are better than others.
Some cultures promote female genital mutilation; rape; slavery; starvation of the elderly; infanticide; forced child labor; torture (not panties on the head, but institutionalized body breaking, facial mutilation, castration, and blinding), and human sacrifice. Culture is more than wok cooking, tortilla pounding, square dancing, folk singing, incense burning, termite eating, and vegetarianism.
Cultures also define whether a man cheats on his agreements; sleeps with his wife's sister; uses double-entry bookkeeping; rapes his daughters;
supports public libraries; marries a person chosen by his parents; belches or farts at the table; defecates on the sidewalk; establishes a system of laws; opens the door for women; writes a thank-you note; uses an abacus; has a pet dog; spits on the floor; uses deodorant; reads poetry; eats mushrooms; kills wolves or whales; and a thousand other things, large and small.
If a person is not willing to make value judgments between and among all those everyday choices and events, and thereby express his assessment of good, bad, better, or best, then he has delegated his life to those who do make those distinctions. And he has no right to object because he has chosen to default.
Multiculturalism is designed to make the white man (and white woman) default.

AMEN!!! There's been overwhelming evidence in dozens of countries worldwide that this is the case. There's no benefits to importing Muslims, only burdens, trouble and even bloodshed. We wouldn't be having these conversations otherwise.
Thanks for the explanation of multiculturalism, Susan and Texan. I've been equating it more with multi-ethnicity myself, rather than the dangerous, insidious policy that it is. I wonder if we didn't have this suicidal 'ism' of thinking that other cultures are better than ours, whether we'd be having these problems with Muslims? Would they have streamed into Western countries in such numbers if we weren't so suicidally accommodating?
Andrew Bolt is one of my favourite columnists and I'm glad to see he's waking up to the fact that moderates are the vast majority is a myth. The term "moderate" is actually meaningless. The goal is the same, whether moderate or extremist - overwhelm our society and replace it with the tribal, backward hatefulness and misery of Islam, which can mean nothing but a nightmarish Hell on Earth.

Actually, it was a tragedy - they shot the wrong guy. This doesn't mean that the shoot-to-kill policy is wrong, especially when the police are dealing with potential suicide bombers, but that this was a tragic mistake.
Hugh says that the word 'hurtful' should be banned. I'd also ban the lefty weasel word 'helpful', eg criticism of the Koran/Islam/Muslims is not 'helpful'. Saying Mohammed was a murderous paedophile is not 'helpful', etc etc.

As an accountant (of sorts), I had to allow myself a bit of a snigger at the juxtaposition of the cornerstone of our accounting system with all manner of depravity. The inventor of double-entry bookkeeping was a monk, Luca Pacioli, who, as it happens, was a convicted paedophile. (Perhaps he was in the wrong religion.) The pain and suffering he caused during his lifetime was nothing compared with his legacy, as anyone who has struggled to master debits, credits and suspense accounts will tell you.

Paccioli had his points. He was from Borgo Sansepolcro, home town of Piero, and studied mathematics with him. Each had his own way of expressing his sense of divine proportion; Piero in paint, Paccioli with his discussion of that very concept (see the Rule of Three, the Golden Section, et al.).
Funny to think that Paccioli enters history as the Father of Accounting for his work on double-entry bookkeeping, which for posterity puts in the shade his work on the innate beauty of certain ratios connected to Leonardo's Vitruvian man, and Piero, while rightly known for painting, has his work "De abaco" ignored.
About 10 years ago there was a small exhibit, either in Borgo Sansepolcro itself, or in Arezzo (possibly a consolation prize to visitors who discovered that the fresco-cycle in the Arezzo church were closed for restoration, and "restauro" is one of those words, like "sciopero," that sends chills down the spines of visitors), devoted to Piero, but that did not ignore Luca Paccioli.
One of the best books of the past thirty years is "Christy Malry's Own Double-Entry Book-Keeping," which I spent an entire afternoon tracking down in New York, so I could have my very own copy. It is by the melancholic, mordant, and miserable B. S. Johnson, whose own writing ought to have bucked him up more than it apparently did. If you haven't read it, you would like it.

One western country is doing a good job of keeping islam out of their country. We cannot overlook this country and we should follow their example. This country has 42% of Evangelical Christians of its total population. One of its churches has over 1/2 million members. This country has a closed door policy on "immigration of muslims". This country understands the evil of islam. There are no historical islam related terror attacks on its soil, except that they have had brushes with terrorism from their northern neighbours who are not muslim.We should all follow the example of this country. 5 gold stars go to South Korea.

Sydney's Gang Rape Trial:
Fourteenth century tribal savagery meets the modern world in Sydney: In the open: rapists’ campaign of vicious assaults. (Hat tip: SoCalJustice.)
They are probably the most violent, prolific gang rapists Sydney has known, with as many as 18 young victims. But until now the extent of the horrific crimes of four brothers from Pakistan has been kept secret.
Yesterday, more than three years after they went on a six-month rampage, luring girls as young as 13 to their home in Ashfield to rape them, suppression orders forbidding publication of their trial details were lifted.
They still cannot be named because two of the brothers were juveniles, aged 16 and 17, when they committed the first offences. But the crimes of the brothers MSK, MAK, MRK and MMK, and their friend RS, can now be made public.
The brothers, who came to Australia from Pakistan around 2000, had claimed in the face of damning DNA evidence that they were the victims of an anti-Muslim conspiracy. The eldest brother feigned mental illness, they sacked numerous lawyers and aborted trials to ensure delays as they tried to wear down the victims who had agreed to testify.
Yesterday the Director of Public Prosecutions, Nicholas Cowdery, QC, said the brothers took the rules that ensure a fair trial “to their limits” and they “may need to be re-examined to assess whether they are appropriate”.
“People from time to time test the operation of these rules. Some people call it game-playing, but if the rules are there to be tested and used, that is a legitimate part of the process,” Mr Cowdery said.
The rapes of at least eight girls took place mostly in the brothers’ Ashfield home between January and July 2002. The girls were invited to a “party”, but would arrive at the house, which was strewn with rubbish and plastered with posters of semi-naked girls, to find no other females there.
Some victims were repeatedly raped at knifepoint and told they would be killed if they went to police. The brothers videotaped their rapes, and the tapes show another dozen possible victims. The police have not been able to find them all and some did not want to come forward.
The victims who did make complaints breathed a sigh of relief on Monday, when the oldest brother, MSK, pleaded guilty to the aggravated sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in July 2002. That spared the victim from having to give evidence and brought the series of trials to an end.
The brutality of the crime, the last to go to trial, was typical. Before raping the girl, MSK told her he had strangled a girlfriend and hung her from a balcony in Iraq - though he was from Pakistan.
This article does not mention that the Sydney rapists had a disquietingly large amount of support from the Australian Muslim community.

Zico--Thank you. I knew about the biography, which I haven't yet read, but I didn't know about the movie. I had always talked lazily (to myself) of writing a script based on that book. I never thought anyone else would do it. I see that I was wrong.
Years ago Australia had a very stringent immigration policy . Basically one had to have a profession needed in Australia, and/or, at least $250,000 in cash. This was to insure against migrating and going immediatly on the dole.

duh_swami: I think our immmigration policy is still very good. I refer to the legal migration. It can be quite strict: professional qualifications, work history, health checks, criminal record checks, etc. To ensure we don't import useless dole bludgers, legal migrants are not allowed welfare for the first 2 years. Unlike those on humanitarian visas who go on the dole immediately.
My personal view is that our strict legal migration process does keep out a lot of potential Muslim migrants, who prefer the illegal route, as evidenced worldwide, and by our own experience with the boats from Indonesia. Now that the boats have been stopped, I see the only main route for them being through family reunification - importing wives and relatives from overseas by ones we're already stuck with. The key is to stop the swarm, and we did, which makes it more manageable.
The other avenue I'd like to see closed up is the 'religious worker' visa, which is how we seem to get these clerics who are nothing more than hatemongers - the Sheikh Omans and that recent one who's trying to get residency here - that African-American convert Islamic hatemonger. We already have enough homegrown Islamic hatemongers (i.e., Sheikh Faiz), why import more?
feralee...Glad to hear the Australian gov has a handle on most of its immigration. I guess those who want to enter illegaly will find any hole possible to squeeze through. The gov just has to plug up the holes as they find them.

Yes you have and I thank you! Multiculturalism may seem unrelated to jihad and dhimmitude to some people but just like far-left liberalism, it is very relevant, a key factor that must be recognized and stopped. The mess we're in didn't happen overnight and it's going to be much more difficult to undo than it was to create.

For over thirty years, muslims have been invading our country. Except for the places they have populated in droves, this invasion has been silent and unnoticed by most Americans. After 9-11, thanks to cable news networks, the extent of this invasion became evident.
After almost four years, two wars, countless Islamic terror attacks and assurances of more and worse to come, millions of Americans still don't get it! The continuous stream of lies from Islamic apologists and politicians, and accusations of Islamophobia and bigotry from left-wing useful idiots have confused people to the extent that they are afraid to say what they know in their hearts. Political correctness has paralyzed Americans. What a suicidal shame that is!
