The suspected terrorist accused of trying to bomb a tube train at Warren Street used to berate a Muslim shopkeeper for selling alcohol, it was claimed last night. Yasin Hussan Omar, 24, a Somalian national who arrived in Britain as a child, lived in a rented flat in New Southgate, north London.One shopkeeper, Mohammed Hassan, claimed yesterday that Omar had accused him of not being a "proper Muslim".
"I never got the impression he had any money and he would complain about me selling alcohol, telling me I was not a good Muslim," Mr Hassan said.
Another shopkeeper, Ali Dursun, claimed Omar often railed about halal meat.
"He said Turkish people were not proper Muslims," Mr Dursan said....
Because of their relatively secular government.
Meanwhile, the family of Ibrahim - the first to report his name to police after his CCTV image was released - said yesterday that he had not visited their home in Harrow for many months.However, Sarah Scott, a neighbour of Ibrahim's parents, claimed she had seen him in the area about two weeks ago.
Miss Scott, 23, said Ibrahim had tried to convert her to Islam and had told her 80 virgins would be waiting for him if he died loyal to Allah. "I have known him since I was about 11," she said. "He was here about two weeks ago. It would have been after the July 7 bombings. He was pretty calm but then he was always calm."

Ibrahim's brother, Amir, briefly emerged from the family home yesterday wearing a scarf and hooded top to cover his face and tried to throw a dustbin at television cameras.
"I haven't seen him," he said. "He has not lived here since he was 18. My mum and dad are sick with the stress of all this."

Here we have a non-Muslim woman, who had some discussions with Yasin Hassan Omar, who claims he told her that there were "80 virgins" awaiting him in Paradise. This naturally leads to a few questions.
First, about these 80, when the proper number is 72. Was Sarah Scott, whom Yasin Hassan Omar had tried to convert to Islam, misremembering the number of virgins he claimed were awaiting him? Did her memory simply engage, as memories will, in rounding-off, somewhat optimistically upwards, to the nearest ten, or was it he, Yasin Hassan Omar, who had done the optimistic round-ing off, allotting himself an extra 8 virgins, in the spirit of Philip Larkin's celebrated "This Be The Verse." ("They fuck you up, your mum and dad/They may not mean to, but they do./They fill you with the faults they had/And add some extra, just for you."). Somehow I don't think Yasin Hasan Omar was a great reader of The Whitsun Weddings or even High Windows -- but I could be wrong.
Second, is it not possible to publicize just a bit more the philological studies of Christoph Luxenberg? As the proud possessor of both the first and second editions of "Die Syro-Aramaische Lesart von Koran," which I can hardly read in the German, I know that one of his points is that those virgins are really "clear white raisins," which must have been a great delicacy in the famished imaginations of desert Arabs. If more Muslims were at least to be aware that they might be trading their earthly existence for a box of Raisinets, they might be less inclined to do so - or at least we might introduce a desirable note of doubt which other Muslims could play with, even perhaps prompt, among Muslims themselves (no Infidels need apply) some of that gentle, and playful, humor and good fellowship for which Muslims are justly famous.
Third, about those 72 virgins. Somewhere I recall reading that 2 of the 72 are Muslim virgins, and 70 are non-Muslim. Or do I have it backwards? I'd like to find the source of this information, and would be grateful for your prompt attention to this matter. Possibly someone at Al-Azhar could write in, and set us all straight -- who are those virgins, and what else do we know about them? And once they are deflowered, what happens to them? Can they cook? Are they left barefoot and pregnant in Paradise?
What is, as that gravelly-voiced American radio personality used to say, the Rest of the Story?
How very misogynistic of me, how very male-gazey of me, how very phallic-hegemonistic of me, to forget to add one last query. Why did Hasan Yasin Omar think that telling Sarah Scott, aged 23, about the "80 virgins" awaiting him would make her find Islam more attractive? Was he so wrapped up in Islam More-or-Less For Men Only as to think that this would be construed by any woman as a point in Islam's favor? What girl wants to play eternal second fiddle to those waiting 72 or even 80 virgins, humming above, in a low voice, that old favorite -- "Someday he'll come along/The shahid I love/He need not be big and strong/The shahid I love." Really, why was this supposed to be a selling point for Sarah Scott or, for that matter, any other English unofficial rose?
And BTW, sex with a virgin aint that great.

1) The German scholar's name Christoph Luxenberg is a pseudonym because he fears for his life -- Muslims would murder him for tampering with their divine Koran.
2) Raisins make sense in the context of luscious gardens of Paradise -- each Muslim man is promised a palace on a vast estate of gardens.
3) Muslim men are not only promised 72 virgins (so they think) but also 800 (perhaps another rounded figure like the curvacious huri) slaves.
4) Do the math: Let's say there are about 1 billion Muslim males (totalling throughout history) that will end up in Paradise: For their virgin needs, there will have to be 72 billion virgins. For their slave needs, there will have to be 800 billion slaves. These obviously will not be coming from the extant populations of Earth either now or throughout history. Thus, Allah will re-create virgins and slaves for each Muslim male: the 72 virgins, in particular, will be sort of like female androids, never born but created at their young age and never growing old, to provide sex for the males (who will have erections lasting forever) for eternity.
5) Ultimately, it doesn't matter whether it's virgins or raisins, for the following reasons:
a) Muslims will never admit such a major emendation to their psychotically literalistic grip on the Koran.
b) Muslim men will receive neither virgins nor raisins in the afterlife, only red-hot pokers up their sphincters for Eternity.

I thought that if you died fighting for Allah's cause you got 72 virgins and 28 pre-pubescent boys and that you are equiped with the sexual energy of 100 men. I heard that the virgins are black-eyed lovelies and the boys are described as pearls of eternal youth. I also heard that in the hadith it says that in paradise there is some sort of market where you can go and get lots of sexual partners.
