BRITAIN stood united last night in defiance of the bomb attacks which killed at least 52 people and left 700 injured as the reality of the War on Terror came to London....
Meanwhile, guard went up worldwide:
THE attacks triggered a worldwide terrorist alert. From Europe to America, the Middle East and Russia, countries put their forces on alert and stepped up security on public transport networks.In France, Dominique de Villepin, the Prime Minister, advised travellers to avoid London until further notice. Two Cabinet sessions with defence and interior ministers were held to co-ordinate French emergency plans and offer help to Britain.
In Madrid, which suffered similar attacks last year, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, the Prime Minister, ordered the Interior Ministry “to activate all the systems of alert and prevention”, and told the security services to co-ordinate the hunt for those responsible for the British authorities.
Michael Chertoff, the head of the American Homeland Security Agency, raised the threat level “from code yellow or elevated to code orange, high” on transport systems. The US Embassy in London was cordoned off for a block around the Mayfair building.

Kissan, 29, a trainee accountant, a Hindu who didn’t want to give his full name because his mother runs a grocery shop nearby, said that he’d seen the streets this clear only once before.
“It was the same after September 11,” he said. “They [the Muslims] pulled everyone off the street. A lot of them are decent but the younger ones would come in the shop and be rooting it — bin Laden this, bin Laden the other.”
Nicky, his cousin, agreed: “These people, they hate us, man. If I’m Hindu or white and you are Muslim, we can’t talk.”
Kissan said: “If it weren’t for the mortgage on the shop, we’d just leave the key on the mat and walk away.” They certainly do not want to talk, that much is obvious.

When I did my A-levels in 1972 a better standard of deductive thought and assessment of current affairs was required! And I did them younger than these boys.
But we've got to understand the root causes of their alienation.
What lessons will Britain learn from this?
None about the real nature of Islam if the mainstream media can help it. I'll check the papers later on, but all I seem to be hearing is that Islam is the 'great religion of peace' and whoever did it does not represent the true Islam.

one of the lessons, juding by what blair just said at the g8 meeting, seems that palestinian terror will be rewarded to the sum of £3 billion. It seems that while terror should not be tollerated anywhere in the world, it is ok when the terror is targetted against jews.
The letters section of this morning's [Toronto] Globe & Mail includes one representing the self-righteous "it's because of Iraq, Israel and Afghanistan" whinges. If it's because of that, pray tell me why much of the worst carnage in recent times has been between Muslims -- Darfur, Pakistan and the eight-year long Iran/Iraq slugfest that claimed a million lives.

Everytime I hear a conservative radio talk show host say that only a handfull of radical Islamics are responsible for terror, it makes my skin crawl...dont these guys do any homework? I expect that from leftists, but when conservatives cant see the forrest, because there are too many tree's in the way, I get nervous.
They just dont seem to get it. The idea that it is every muslims obligation to participate in jihad escapes them. I'm going to e-mail some of these personalities a paste of Bukhari's statements on this subject. From his "Book of Jihad". Maybe that will help them get the "big" picture...maybe not, but it's worth a try...I will also refer them to JW...they need to bone up on reality...
