Where was the vast majority of decent, law-abiding British Muslims that we are hearing about these days from Prince Charles and Tony Blair while this recruitment was going on? LEEDS -- The transformation of four young British men into terrorists appears to have taken place at a government-funded storefront youth centre in Leeds that, according to youth workers, was a hub of radical Islamist activity.The centre was sealed off and searched by police yesterday after three of its workers said in an interview on the street outside that at least two of the suicide bombers had been "very regular" visitors at all hours to the Hamara Youth Access Point, and a third had been seen there occasionally.
"It had become so radical and so hateful that I asked if I could stop working there," said one of the workers, who along with two others described the storefront drop-in centre as a hub of radical Muslim politics and a hotbed of Islamic organizing, routinely hosting mysterious figures to speak about extremist politics.
All three workers, two of them white British Christians, live in the poor Beeston area, which was home to two of the bombers, Shahzad Tanweer, 22, and Hasib Hussain, 18.
A third bomber, 30-year-old Mohammed Sadique Khan, also lived in this tight-knit community in Leeds until a few months ago, when he moved with his wife and their infant child to Dewsbury, not far to the south, where he worked as a well-respected primary-school teacher.
It appears that this modest youth centre is the point where these three young men converged with the fourth bomber and a leading figure who was being sought by police last night.
"It's fair to say that there was some kind of recruiting going on here," one of the workers said. "Some of the youth workers were really involved with it, and it got to the point where they were acting really hostile to anyone who wasn't their kind of Muslim."
As the interview was taking place on the street, police cordoned off the building, expelled people from neighbouring buildings and began a detailed search of the youth centre.
The centre receives funding from the British government and the European Union, as well as charitable funds, and as such is officially secular and non-political. But in practice, it was neither. On its walls were posters from the Respect Party, an extremist pro-Islamic party founded by MP George Galloway, that showed Israeli soldiers pointing rifles at Palestinian children. When some workers complained about these, they were harassed by other staffers....
Most people here feel that none of the mosques have adopted the highly radical, anti-Western politics that have turned some London houses of worship into Islamist recruiting centres. They say, however, that study groups have formed on the edges of congregations that may teach a much more political form of Islam.
Family and friends of the young men repeatedly said yesterday that they had seen no indication that they had adopted such influences. Although they had become more devoutly religious and travelled to Pakistan for study trips, it is not uncommon for naturalized children of immigrants in this part of England to become more devout than their secularized parents. Terrorism is another matter.

The tragedy is that if someone ever expressed their suspecion that those nice, ordinary, polite, perfectly normal Muslim kids who were just "devout in their faith" might bomb the Tube one day -- before they actually did it, that is -- then they would just be blamed for predjudice and Islamophobia. They are always, always so nice and ordinary and friendly and everything before it comes out that they've put a bomb somewhere or blown themselves up in order to kill and terrorize others. So if "devout Muslim" is not a reason to be suspicious, how could one ever stop them before they actually go for it?

where he suggests that the backlash against muslims in the UK is as bad if not worst than the 7th July bombing. This is clearly total nonsense and I have said as much in a letter which I have sent to him and copied to the Guardian. This letter will probably not see the light of day but I copy it here, should anyone wish to write something to this Right Honourable Member of Parliament.
His solutions are "engaging muslims with British society" and giving them wider access to power. He doesm't explain how his plan will pan out.
Here is the letter I wrote:
Dear Mr Khan
It is with great interest that I read your comment in the Guardian on the 14th of July.
1) If, as you say, the 'backlash' has begun and and there are 'more victims than those who tragically lost their lives', would you be able list the 52 victims and 50 seriously injured in the anti-muslim 'backlash' since the 7th of July? Does 'pointing at me' as some muslims have claimed on the BBC, constitute part of that backlash?
2) Are you really comparing a total of about 5 anti-abortionists killed in the last 30 years in the name of christianity to the horrors of Beslan, 9/11, 3/11, 7/7, the Moscow theatre seige, decapitations of Thai monks and aid workers only killed for the 'crime' of being infidels?
3) Is it possible to explain why in Sura 9 of the Koran (one of the last Suras to be revealed to Mohammed) verse 123 is not considered a theological justification for the events last Thursday:
"O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him)."
This is just one verse amongst many in the Koran and Hadiths which is used to justify the killing of infidels or muslims deemed not islamic enough.
4) Would you be able to point out exactly how Muslims in the UK are preventing terror? How many Imams preaching hatred have been handed over to the police? If none have been handed over, are we too assume that there are no dangerous Imams preaching death to infidels in British mosques?
5) You will I'm sure agree that a theological push in the mosques and within muslim families would greatly assist British Authorities in destroying the evil of fundamentalist terror. Would you be able to list, for example, how many Fatwas have been announced by against masters of terror such Bin Laden, Zarkawi et al.? By means of comparison, how would this list compare with the number of Fatwas announced against non-violent apostates?
6) Is there an explaination why UK muslims publicly and on internet forums refer to the UK as Dar-el-Harb or Land of War? Does the concept of Dar-el-Harb spell danger for non muslims or is a purely islamic legalistic jargon?
7) Are you able to explain why some muslims feel alienated to the point of hating the society they live in and why immigrants of other faiths don't?
8) Are you able to explain why with free education, free healthcare, plenty of social benefits and freedom of worship, Britain still needs to do more for its muslim community?
9) Are you able to explain what exactly is meant by neighbourhood renewal and why muslims would need this to feel part of British society and why immigrants of other faiths wouldn't?
10) It has been proposed by certain muslim groups that in order for British muslims not to feel alienated it might be better were the UK to become an Islamic state. How would you propose the British Authorities deal with these attitudes?

Inundated by
such disingenuous apologetics Westerners have remained largely ignorant
of jihad—the Islamic war of conquest. Thus the chattering classes,
confused all too easily by superficial similarities, equate jihad with

the uniquely Islamic institution of jihad, and the Crusades, as they
derive from widely divergent religions and civilizations.
Jihad, as a
nascent ideology, originated from the putative military activities of
Muhammad himself, described in the Muslim sacred texts. September 622
C.E. marks a defining event in Islam- the hijra. Muhammad and a coterie
of followers (the Muhajirun), persecuted by fellow Banu Quraysh
tribesmen who rejected Muhammad’s authenticity as a divine messenger,
fled from Mecca to Yathrib, later known as Al-Medina (Medina). Gil
notes that Muslim sources described Yathrib as having been a Jewish
city founded by a Palestinian diaspora population which had survived
the revolt against the Romans. [4] Distinct from the nomadic Arab
tribes, the Jews of the north Arabian peninsula were highly productive
oasis farmers. These Jews were eventually joined by itinerant Arab
tribes from southern Arabia who settled adjacent to them and
transitioned to a sedentary existence.

scant Hindu and Buddhist writings which survived the ravages of the
Muslim conquests, independently validate this narrative, and complement
the Muslim perspective by providing testimonies of the suffering of the
non-Muslim victims of jihad wars. [17]
From its earliest inception, through the present, jihad
has been central to the thought and writings of prominent Muslim
theologians and jurists. The precepts and regulations elucidated in the
7th through 9th centuries are immutable in the Muslim
theological-juridical system, and they have remained essentially
unchallenged by the majority of contemporary Muslims. The jihad is
intrinsic to the sacred Muslim texts, including the divine Qur’anic
revelation itself, whereas the Crusades were circumscribed historical
events subjected to (ongoing and meaningful) criticism by Christians
themselves. Unlike the espousal of jihad in the Qur’an, the constituent
texts of Christianity, the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, do not
contain a form fruste institutionalization of the Crusades. The Bible
sanctions the Israelites conquest of Canaan, a limited domain, it does
not sanction a permanent war to submit all the nations of humanity to a
uniform code of religious law. Similarly, the tactics of warfare are
described in the Bible, unlike the Qur’an, in very circumscribed and
specific contexts. Moreover, while the Bible clearly condemns certain
inhumane practices of paganism, it never invoked an eternal war against
all of the world’s pagan peoples.
The Crusades as
an historical phenomenon were a reaction to events resulting from over
450 years of previous jihad campaigns. At the close of the 11th
century, particularly after the crushing Byzantine defeat by the Seljuk
Turks at Manzikert in 1071, Christendom, including Europe, was under
existential threat by a confluence of Muslim advances. To the West, the
Almoravid Berber Muslim tribes drove into Spain and pushed northward,
pillaging and massacring the Christian populations they encountered. In
the East, following their victory at Manzikert, the Seljuks put Armenia
to fire and sword, and within a decade they had conquered three-fourths
of Asia Minor. By 1090 C.E., Grousset has observed [18],
…Turkish Islam having almost entirely driven the Byzantines out of Asia [Minor], was preparing to pass over into Europe. [i.e., from the East]
Finally, in the
Holy Land (i.e., Palestine) itself, the Muslim yoke under the Seljuks
had become particularly onerous for the indigenous Christian (and
Jewish) population, as well as Christian pilgrims. Both the native and
pilgrim populations were subjected to forced conversions, kidnappings,
and murder in an atmosphere of overall insecurity for the life and
property of non-Muslims. Michael the Syrian, the 12th century Jacobite
patriarch of Antioch, reproducing earlier contemporary sources in his
famous Chronicle, summarized the prevailing conditions for Christians
in Palestine, as follows: [19]
As
the Turks were ruling the lands of Syria and Palestine, they inflicted
injuries on Christians who went to pray in Jerusalem, beat them,
pillaged them, levied the poll tax at the gate of the town and also at
Golgotha and the [Holy] Sepulchre; and in addition, every time they saw a caravan of Christians, particularly of those from
Rome and the lands of Italy, they made every effort to cause their
death in diverse ways. And when countless people had perished as a
result, the kings and counts were seized with [religious] zeal and left Rome; troops from all these countries joined them, and they came by sea to Constantinople [First Crusade (1096-99)].

Bat Ye’or summarizes the Arab Muslim conquest of Palestine as follows: [45]
…Abu Bakr
organized the invasion of Syria [Syro-Palestine] which Muhammad had

and advised Abu Ubayda, in charge of operations in the Golan, to
plunder the countryside, but due to a lack of adequate weaponry, to
refrain from attacking towns. Consequently, the whole Gaza region up to

Jewish, Christian, and Samaritan peasants who defended their land were

and Beth Shean were isolated and closed their gates. In his sermon on
Christmas day 634, the patriarch of Jerusalem, Sophronius, lamented
over the impossibility of going on pilgrimage to Bethlehem, as was the
custom because the Christians were being forcibly kept in Jerusalem:
‘not detained by tangible bonds, but chained and nailed by fear of the
Saracens,’ whose ‘savage, barbarous and bloody sword’ kept them locked
up in the town…Sophronius, in his sermon on the Day of the Epiphany
636, bewailed the destruction of the churches and monasteries, the
sacked towns, the fields laid waste, the villages burned down by the
nomads who were overrunning the country. In a letter the same year to
Sergius, the patriarch of Constantinople, he mentions the ravages
wrought by the Arabs. Thousands of people perished in 639, victims of
the famine and plague that resulted from these destructions.
The
countryside [in Syro-Palestine, Iraq, Persia, and Armenia] suffered
constant razzias, while those who escaped the sword swelled the
contingents of enslaved women and children, shared out among the
soldiers after the deduction of the fifth [share of the “booty”]
reserved for the caliph.
According to
[the Muslim chronicler] Baladhuri (d. 892 C.E.), 40,000 Jews lived in
Caesarea alone at the Arab conquest, after which all trace of them is
lost…
The 10th century
Jacobite chronicler Michael the Syrian wrote that the ongoing Arab
razzias and expeditions in Syro-Palestine (as well as Iraq, Persia, and
Armenia), were characterized by repeated, and systematic pillage: [46]

The families of these four bombers are running round "shocked". Either they are putting on an act of shock, or they pay absolutely no attention to the patterns of behaviour of those nearest to them.

Sir Iqbal Sacranie, the head of the muslim council of Britain made a speech at the London Vigil today at Trafalagar Square
He was kind enough to point out the famous koranic verse 5:32
"....any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people"
As usual he left out the caveat: This verse applies only to jews. Muslims are not instructed to abide by this. Here, as a reminder is the whole verse:
"On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land."
And the following verses:
5:33 "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;"
5:34 "Except for those who repent before they fall into your power: in that case, know that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful."
Do not be fooled by these liars.

Another important barrier was crossed when Muslims from middle class backgrounds turned on their country. Or did they, for their Nation is Islam.

The Future of Islam: The problem is Islamic controlled governments that foster hatred and terrorism. These leaders foster hated for ideals like freedom of the press, freedom of Religion, blind Justice, civil liberties, freedom of speech, free elections of a representative government and free market economies. They know that their power is based in fear and terror and real freedom for their people would put this power over the people in jeopardy.

But I'm thinking of one of Gruesome George Galloway's groupies, one Lindsey German of Socialist Worker, Stop the War coalition and lately Respcet candidate for West Ham. Who is believed to be a woman of some description, and not Jamaican born. Damn, 10 minutes of searching wasted.
Islamic study and worship in Western nations is just a disaster waiting to happen. And it will continue to happen. There are peaceful, law-abiding Muslims in the US, UK, and other free nations, but we still must be vigilant and pro-active in examining every mosque and muslim charity to ascertain that no evil lurks just below the surface, even if it means stepping over the boundaries of "civil liberties" and into "ethnic profiling." The radicals are like cancer - a few bad cells induce other susceptible cells to mutate into bad cells, and eventually the entire organism dies - healthy cells and all. We must either cure it quickly and deliberately or else kill it before it decomposes into a toxic mess that kills everyone who goes near it.

Muslims whine, they threaten, they get pushy and defensive, and they rush out to accuse the public of "backlash" with little or no regard for the victims of another Islamic crime against humanity. Paradoxically, the backlash they are so terrified of is never as bad as the "lash." It's always about muslims; one would think they were the victims instead of the criminals.
They expect to be treated with respect like normal citizens but they are not normal citizens, even those who don't participate in terrorism. The fact is, muslims have been treated with much more tolerance than they deserve considering over 1300 years of violence against the West and the rest of the non-Islamic world. How long are we supposed to tolerate their aggression, violence, intolerance and hate?
I'm ready for muslims to practice tolerance as much as they preach it. I'm tired of the one way street and the attempt by muslims to portray themselves as the victims every time one of their own blows himself and hundreds of innocent people to kingdom come.
