TAMPA - A national Muslim organization is offering a 30- second public service announcement to TV stations, an effort to denounce terrorism after the July 7 attacks in London. With local network affiliates hedging on whether they will air the spot, Bay area viewers may not see it.Ahmed Bedier, spokesman for Central Florida's Council on American-Islamic Relations, distributed the video to local stations Friday at the Islamic Society of Tampa Bay Area's mosque.
In the video, American Muslims - a man and two women - talk about terrorists, each speaking a few words:
``We reject anyone - of any faith - who commits such brutal acts and will not allow our faith to be hijacked by criminals. Islam is not about hatred and violence. It's about peace and justice.''
Bedier said the message would go a long way toward helping people understand the Bay area's Muslim community, estimated at 30,000.
The spot's release quickly became a topic on MSNBC and other network news reports, but national network representatives have not committed to airing it free as a PSA, said Ibrahim Hooper, a CAIR spokesman in Washington....
``This is one way, a concrete way, to demonstrate our rejection of terrorism,'' Hooper said. ``The decision was made immediately after the attacks. We were casting about to answer this question: whether we have done enough to condemn terrorism.''
There is some sentiment that an ad is not enough.
Lola Walter, of Brandon, wrote a letter to the Tribune after the London attacks, questioning the lack of Muslims' outrage. She said Friday that swift grass-roots action from the international Muslim community would resonate more than a TV spot.
``Arabs, Muslims worldwide should take to the streets and condemn the jihadists, the extremists,'' Walter said. ``We have a right to see that. I don't think a simple declaration of disapproval is a strong enough position.''

Brutal acts: We already know that the Quran and Hadith not only advocate brutal acts, they call for them.

According to www.ropma.net between September 11th 2001 and February 20th 2005 there had been 1,905 terrorist atrocities committed in the name of Islam, CAIR condemned only five of these.
Maybe CAIR should have a 'fill in the form' condemnation relese with slots for the city, state, number of killed, etc. That way they can speed up the condemndation releases. Ob but be sure to include all those BUTS in all of them.

"Cair condemns terror". Reminds me of Arafat's two faced positions, condemning and at the same time pulling the strings. I could not care less what these people say. They will say anything that will put them in a position of advantage or when they need to back off and consolidate and take a breath. Britain's muslims can see public outrage rising against them and they are afraid the immigration door will shut on them. Behind the scenes nothing will change.
The only thing that can save the Brits is to shut the door now and for the public to make things uncomfortable for their existing muslims and encourage them to leave. Fat chance for most as they are on the welfare tit and would need to be surgically removed.
I was surprised to read a letter from CAIR in the Palm Beach Post this week condemning the attacks. They need to do a lot more than make a few public comments, like going after the terrorists themselves, turning them in, etc. If Christians or Jews were killing people all over the world, blowing themselves up, no one would tolerate it and those religions would be outcasts and shunned everywhere. Western Leaders need to begin deporting muslims like the Dutch have begun doing. As long as muslims are living amongst us, we are not safe. I believe this is only the beginning, and in time, will get to the point where we won't be safe leaving our homes. Maybe with the next attack on our soil, there will be such an outcry, the government will have no choice but to begin deporting them. Whenever my mother sees them, she gives them dirty looks to let them know they're not wanted here. Maybe we should all begin doing that.
