Omar Bakri, the London jihadist, said this in April 2004: a group calling itself Al Qaeda Europe "has a great appeal for young Muslims. I know that they are ready to launch a big operation."
Today, a group calling itself the Secret Organisation Group of al-Qaeda of Jihad Organisation in Europe claimed the attacks in London. Could that be Bakri's "Al Qaeda Europe"?
Here is their full statement translated by the BBC (in a rather odd fashion, with three "Gods" and one "Allah,"), although I have a report that the Arabic text is longer:
In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him.Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters.
We have repeatedly warned the British Government and people. We have fulfilled our promise and carried out our blessed military raid in Britain after our mujahideen exerted strenuous efforts over a long period of time to ensure the success of the raid.
We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused.
God says: "You who believe: If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly."
Deport them all!
Rumour has it that MI5 is requesting the CIA to kidnap Bakri and take him to Egypt for "interrogations".....
/If only...
We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused.
Hey, more from the religion of the morally perverse and the completely stupid.
These Moslems and their macabre illusions of god.
So brave are these Moslems who murder for the glory of gory allah.
They do know one thing, allah has no power over the armed, so his brave fighters stab the unarmed in the back, just like their little gory powerless god.
What a majestic day for the morally perverse Moslem!
Don't you know, this has nothing to do with Islam! Aliens did it. That's right, aliens.
If the US & UK had sane security for their respective nations, guys like Bakri would be preaching in prison. Do we really have to tolerate treason, hatred and intolerance?
With regards to all British posters and readers,
The Islamic name games begin, and politicians, the media and police are, again, awash in darkness, a blindness to the heart of Islamic aggression and violence that snuffs out the capacity for a defense response.
It is, of course, important to know exactly who did this; but these individuals or this 'group' is not the real problem. The Islamic name game, the new 'al Qaeda group' or whatever, does not matter; it is not important to mujahedin to identify themselves. Allah knows who they are and that is enough for them and for any Muslim who understands and accepts the obligation to wage Jihad to defend and spread Islam. The name that seems to inspire the greatest fear, the name that most forcefully advances the cause, will be the name they adopt: the 'new al Qaeda', why not? In the Islamic imagination perhaps this is a recruiting ploy: join us the 'new al Qaeda', a new base, one among thousands, one among millions, one among as many Muslims that exist in the world. And so goes the Islamic imagination.
And for what 'cause' does the 'new al Qaeda' fight? Is this entirely new?
The 'cause' is Islam and the objectives are the objectives of Islam itself, declared in immutable texts with divine authority: Muslims must 'fight in the way of Allah', wage Jihad, against Infidels who attack or place obstacles in the path of Islam. There are many ways to fight, and the 'new al Qaeda' has selected a completely logical form of fighting exemplified by the Prophet himself in his quest for domination and 'surrender to the faith'. Infidels are already doomed. What do their lives matter, when it comes to defending and promoting the holy destiny of Allah? And, if a few Muslims die, they die as martyrs; and there is no more noble way to die, as the Prophet said on many, many occasions.
And has any news organization discussed the significance, or insignificance, of this ironic Islamic name game: try to name the 'guilty parties' to 'bring them to justice', but you can't. Why? Because they have no names. They do not want to bear any name, except the name of 'martry', Shahid. Shouldn't our media discuss this dimension to this act of mass murder, one more among the thousands of acts of Islamic mass murder? And shouldn't our media, the Western media, discuss the goals of these mujahedin, these jihadists, and talk about why they want to do what they want to do? And what do they want to do? Destroy an Infidel state and society, of course. An Infidel society that attacks Muslims, suppresses Islam, stands for values and principles that oppose Islam and Sharia law. And why does the 'new al Qaeda' want to destroy Britain? Will our media discuss that? Sooner or later Britons will want to know why Britons are dying on the streets of London. Tell us BBC, why does the 'new al Qaeda' want to destroy Britain?
Until the enemy is identified, and until the ideology of the enemy is known, discussed, debated, digested, we are blind. We are blind to the death that awaits our innocent citizens.
My God, let's begin to speak plainly. And there are no better people in the world than the British to begin.
My very best to the people of Great Britain.
Kevin:
If the laws in the US and the UK (and Canada for that matter) weren't, "an ass... ...an idiot", Bakri and his ilk would have been deported, and damned quickly.
BBC News/Programmes - The Power of Nightmares: Baby It's Cold Outside
Last Updated: Friday, 14 January, 2005, 12:07 GMT
Should we be worried about the threat from organised terrorism or is it simply a phantom menace being used to stop society from falling apart?
In the past our politicians offered us dreams of a better world. Now they promise to protect us from nightmares.
The most frightening of these is the threat of an international terror network. But just as the dreams were not true, neither are these nightmares.
In a new series, the Power of Nightmares explores how the idea that we are threatened by a hidden and organised terrorist network is an illusion.
It is a myth that has spread unquestioned through politics, the security services and the international media.
At the heart of the story are two groups: the American neo-conservatives and the radical Islamists.
Both were idealists who were born out of the failure of the liberal dream to build a better world.
These two groups have changed the world but not in the way either intended.
Those with the darkest fears became the most powerful
Together they created today's nightmare vision of an organised terror network.
A fantasy that politicians then found restored their power and authority in a disillusioned age. Those with the darkest fears became the most powerful.
The rise of the politics of fear begins in 1949 with two men whose radical ideas would inspire the attack of 9/11 and influence the neo-conservative movement that dominates Washington.
Both these men believed that modern liberal freedoms were eroding the bonds that held society together.
The two movements they inspired set out, in their different ways, to rescue their societies from this decay. But in an age of growing disillusion with politics, the neo-conservatives turned to fear in order to pursue their vision.
They would create a hidden network of evil run by the Soviet Union that only they could see.
The Islamists were faced by the refusal of the masses to follow their dream and began to turn to terror to force the people to "see the truth"'.
The Power of Nightmares will be broadcast over three nights from Tuesday 18 to Thursday, 20 January, 2005 at 2320 GMT on BBC Two. The final part has been updated in the wake of the Law Lords ruling in December that detaining foreign terrorist suspects without trial was illegal.
Can you spell J-A-C-K-A-S-S-E-S ?
Shy Guy-
I hope they rerun the show "The Power of Nightmares" real soon.
And then run the film-maker out of the country.
(Along with all of their jihadi-wannabees.)
