Iran leader denies embassy siege role

Ahmadinejad update from the Sydney Morning Herald, with thanks to Nicolei. I don't believe him, but let's assume for the sake of argument that he is telling the truth and really wasn't involved in the 1979 hostage crisis. Very well. Does he disapprove of it? Does he wish it hadn't happened? Does he repudiate the ideology that motivated it? No to all three questions. Thus it is irrelevant whether or not he is the man in the picture, or was otherwise involved. He still represents the same world view as that which was held by the 1979 hostage takers.

The US has challenged Iran over the alleged involvement of its new president in the 1979 seizure of American hostages in Tehran, after former captives identified him as a ringleader.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the hard-line mayor of Tehran who won a presidential run-off election last week, was identified by at least half a dozen former hostages as one of the militants who took over the US embassy in November 1979 and held 52 Americans captive for 444 days.

Several former hostages said Mr Ahmadinejad was present during interrogations, but others do not remember his being among the captors.

In Iran leaders of the embassy takeover said Mr Ahmadinejad was not part of their group, and a spokesman for the President-elect denied that he had played any role in the hostage-taking.

Was he, wasn't he, did he, didn't he -- good god, who cares? He is the primitive brain-addled expontent of a belief-system that if taken perfectly seriously permanently stunts the mental growth. Tool of Khameini, the insidious Mr. Big of the hideous Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmadinejad (how annoying that one even has to pay attention to these names, to learn to spell them write, to distinguish one of the people from the others, when there are so many interesting things about our own lands and cultures still be studied -- can't we just shut off this whole goddamn dar al-Islam, and leave them to it? No, alas, we can't. We made too many mistakes. And God, or Mother Nature, did not set down those geological layers quite as we would have them be.

Androlepsy is the least of this man's sins. And let us not forget any of them, let us remember every single one of them in our own perorations, and orations, and orisons, but not in the mode of forgiveness for them that Hamlet famously mentions to Ophelia.

God gave the Muslims the oil so the rest of us would acknowledge their existance....

"In Iran leaders of the embassy takeover said Mr Ahmadinejad was not part of their group, and a spokesman for the President-elect denied that he had played any role in the hostage-taking."

That may be strictly true. His participation in the interrogations is a separate, unaddressed issue.

Puhleeze, zero credibiity, taquiyya perfected. It's giong to be an even more difficult 5 years with this a'hole the frontman for Iran.

Don't worry reset. This mobot won't be around in 5 years time. One way or another, the infidels will have dealt with the Iranian regime by then. Hmmm, I wonder if Vegas is taking odds on this yet???
