Effractor, those of us reaching that conclusion ourselves are growing in number. Even on Tuesday I encountered a realisation that, as one friend put it "Islam is bad news" in 3 unexpected places. Not "militant Islam" or "radical Islam" but plain and simple everyday Islam, is bad news. Yesterday neighbours were talking even more openly. The fact that the authorities feel the need to keep pushing and pushing this "all neighbours together message" means that they realise we don't buy it. It was never neccessary with the Irish. Because when an Irish friend criticised the IRA or latterly the Loyalist paramilitary we had no cause to doubt his sincerity. Taqqiya is not an Irish word.

The Western press, television, radio, and of course governments, has been falling all over themselves trying desperately not to mention Islam or Muslims, except to assure us, as Blair did, that the "vast and overwhelming majority" (in case "vast" didn't do the job to convince you, you get "overwhelming" to adjectivally drive the message into your thick and apparently still slightly recalcitrant skull)"of Muslims" are -- oh, "law-abiding" and so on. If any Brits here watched the "That'll teach em" series (I think channel 4) they should know by now an A level student can't multiply 7x5 without a calculator.. something a 6 year old could do with ease back in the 50s & 60s. Kids then were taught the times tables from x2 to x12 from the age of 5yrs and knew them off by heart by 7yrs at the latest.
It would be god help them these days if their batteries died.. Whoops I'm forgetting solar calc's. I think those kids thought a globe was a multicoloured football.. When asked to point to (I think) India they hadn't a clue
