Major Changes Needed to Combat Global Terror, Analysts Say

A You-Can-Say-That-Again Alert from CNSNews.com, with thanks to Nicolei:

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - The Western world has no "recipe" for dealing with international terrorism; it is "reacting, not initiating," reserve Israeli Army Maj.-Gen Jacob Amidror said here on Friday.

Drastic changes are needed from both the Muslim and non-Muslim communities if the Western world hopes to wage an effective war against the global threat, other analysts agreed....

"They don't control the Muslim community inside of England," said Amidror, a former head of Israeli army intelligence assessment. "They cannot admit that [their] citizens are part of the problem."

According to Amidror, the solution for winning the war on terrorism requires three elements.

"Inside each country [the authorities must] control the communities that might be connected [to terrorism]. A the end of the day, not all Muslims are terrorists but most terrorists are Muslims," Amidror told Cybercast News Service.

The global community also needs to build an international anti-terrorist organization -- one that would go beyond the current level of intelligence-sharing between countries, he said.

And as part of the long-term war against terrorism, some of the "good habits" enjoyed by the democratic countries such as open borders and open societies might have to be limited, he said....

Unfortunately the way to crack down on terrorists involves limiting human rights and civil liberties, said Dr. Ely Karmon of the International Policy Institute on Counter-Terrorism.

London and the United Kingdom have long been refuges for Islamist leaders, and only recently did the U.K. pass anti-terror laws resulting in the arrest of certain suspects, Karmon said.

"If, in the end, the perpetrators [of the London attack] were members of the Muslim community in the U.K., the government will have to [take] much more control and the population at large will suffer," he said....

But counter-terrorism expert Yoram Schweitzer from the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies in Tel Aviv said there is another aspect to the war against terrorism.

Islamic leaders, particularly those in Europe, must be more forceful in their rejection of the radical Islamic element, said Schweitzer in a telephone interview.

And not just forceful in words, either, or their ultimate loyalties must be doubted.

These are not surprising bits of advise. What is surprising is how the obvious has to be stated.

But much has been left unstated. The Western leaders, and those in the security services, and a sufficient number of those in the general population to support their moves (to vote, write letters, and so on), need to understand Islam. The best way to understand Islam is not to listen, believe it or not, to Muslim (or non-Muslim) apologists for Islam. This may come as a shock to some.

The best way to learn about Islam is to read the Qur'an, the Hadith (that is, the most authoritative recensions) and the Sira (the biography of Muhammad). Read, re-read. Study them. They are easily retrievable. Then read some of the important principles to harmonize the seeming contradictions -- the principle, for example, of abrogation or naskh. Then read what the leading commentators, the writers of tafsir, have to say this or that passage means. See, if indeed, there are alternative interpretations and that we who claim that in the most important matters -- the attitude of Muslims toward non-Muslims -- there is great latitude, or very little, or none.

What else must the Western world, or a good portion of it, have to do? Simply put a full stop to wish-fulfillment, to a belief that something called a "religion" can be other than a force for good, that this word "religion" entitles it to immediate respect, and that it cannot be as well, or mainly, a geopolitical program, one of conquest and subjugation of "the Other" that predates, and far exceeds, any "creation of the Other" business that is such a favorite topic, nowadays -- with the benighted West always accused, so absurdly, of having to "create the Other." If any belief-system was ever based on "the Other" who must be subjugated -- whether that "Other" is Christian, Jew, Hindu, Zoroastrian, Buddhist, Sikh, Confucian, agnostic, atheist, Ruritanian, any thing you want as long as it isn't Muslim -- that belief-system is Islam.

Nearly instinctual is the practice, by many Muslims of taqiyya and kitman. And what is more, many of those so-called "moderates" are perfectly willing to engage in the most misleading presentation of Islam, as anyone who has attended those "Muslim-Christian" or "Muslim-Jewish" gatherings knows perfectly. The amount of deliberate misinformation that is imparted to unwary Infidels alarms, and makes one call into question the good faith of these so-called "moderates." Furthermore, there is a great deal of defensiveness that kicks in quite quickly.

How many of us have had perfectly pleasant, or seemingly pleasant, conversations with articulate, relaxed, non-observant "Muslim-for-identification-purposes-only" Muslims, and then, once one demonstrates that one knows a good deal about Islam, and finds much about it to criticize (let's say-- about the refusal to permit apostasy) a sudden chill develops, a sudden change in your Muslim interlocutor's demeanor, and suddenly this person whom you thought existed in the same intellectual and moral universe, becomes someone willing to brazenly lie about Islam, its tenets, and its history. Why? Filial piety perhaps. Embarrassment, perhaps. A desire not to have to confront the unpleasantness of the whole thing, not to follow logically down the path to apostasy, so one becomes complicit not only in deceiving others about Islam, but oneself because only the very brave and unusually intelligent -- Ibn Warraq, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Ali Sina, and others like them -- dare go all the way to leaving Islam.

This too -- this strange inability of many Muslims to even begin to recognize what is written in Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira, their inability to reject Muhammad as an exemplar of anything, the alacrity with which they retreat into Tu-Quoque arguments about the horrors of other religions (the Crusades! the Holocaust--strange to see how so many people hostile to Jews suddenly become so solicitous if they can use the mistreatment of Jews as a stick to beat off attacks on Islam), must be understood.

The constant reptition of pieties -- we are all the same, we all want the same thing -- has to stop. These pieties, which have grown and grown, are stupid. Perhaps it began, in the post-war world, with that idiotic phrase "we all share in Germany's guilt." Oh no, we don't. And to it was added, during the period when colonial rule came so precipitously to an end, the belief that everyone, all peoples, all belief-systems, all practices, are equally worth our respect. We may all be God's chillun, for those who believe in God, but that is not the same thing as to equate the primitive and the civilized, the fanatical and the relaxed, the humorful and the distinctly humorless, the belief-systems that permit art and science, and those that do not. There are differences.

Let's make judgments. Let's be "judgmental." Let's study up on Islam before simply asserting that there is nothing to worry about. We've had a half-century of pieties, and in that half-century, the Western world has allowed millions of people into its midst, Muslim immigrants, who bear, undeclared, in their mental baggage, a Total Explanation of the Universe, a Complete System of Regulation of LIfe, and what is most important -- a whole doctrine that inculcates permanent hostility toward all non-Muslims, and the duty, collective and at times individual as well, to engage in Jihad in order to spread Islam, and to take ever more territory into dar al-Islam. Just because to non-Muslims this seems fantastic as an idea, does not mean that everyone thinks it is a matter of fantasy.

History-haunted Muslims look at the vast swaths of territories that were conquered so quickly in the Middle East and North Africa. They see that what had been the Roman Empire of the East ,and then Byzantium, as well as Christian lands in Europe, were subjugated by Seljuk and Ottoman Turks. They see how Islam spread to Hindustan, to parts of southeast Asia, even to the East Indies. They keep telling themselves, and us (whether it is true or not, the constant emphasis on this is what is telling) that "Islam is the world's fastest-growing religion" (hoping, by that, to attract the impressionable to convert -- gosh, those Muslims must be doing something right if it's "the world's fastest-growing" etcetera)

The emphasis on terrorism worries. It deflects attention from the more important ways that Islam is spread, through Da'wa and overbreeding (the demographic conquest). It keeps Infidels from understanding how it is that their constant attempts to curry favor with local Muslims, their constant yielding to Muslim demands that, step by step, change the nature of our societies (including the "religious hate law" legislation) they are slowly committing civilizational suicide.

Sometimes, as one looks at the contents of checkout-counter magazines, the faces of Paris Hilton, or Ophrah Winfrey or Brad and Angelina, and all that this attention to them, all that their mere claim on our attention, implies about us, about our society, one thinks: why bother? Well, bother because those checkout-counter magazines are merely a powerful illusion. There is much more to Western existence than Paris Hilton, or Tom Cruise. Rant all you will about decadence, titilate with rainbow-party stories, but there is a whole lot of non-decadence going around as well. There is Shakespeare. That's for thoughts. There is science. There are the paintings in Ravenna. Oh, and a whole lot more.

These things, and we, do not deserve to succumb to this primitive, crazy, aggressive, unpleasant belief-system, whether it is called a "religion" or not. We don't. We won't.

But how painful will the future be, if necessary measures are not taken soon -- beginning with putting paid to all those pieties that prevent, rather than promote, thought?

Catherine:

How many years did it take and how many countries were invaded by Hitler before the rest of Europe woke up? And, just as today, there were significant elements in American society that insisted that Hitler wasn't a threat at all. (Kennedy Sr., while he was ambassador to Britain for one.)

If the veil hasn't fallen away from the eyes of politicians as to what is really driving terrorism, we just have to doggedly continue educating ourselves and our friends and form action groups to issue public statements.

We have a small organization up here, Canadian Citizens for Democracy, that has started a campaign of letter writing to the media and politicians about terrorism. Our situation is a little unique, however, in that Canada not only has Islamist terrorists, but we also had some Sikh and Tamil terrorists raising money and, even carrying out a terror operation against Canadian citizens, so when the CCD speaks out, they cannot be dismissed offhand as being Islamophobes.

"...the radical Islamic element...."

God help us. We are surrounded by fools.

Quite right, waterdragon52. Among the other famous isolationist foes of getting involved in "the European war" were Charles Lindbergh and Henry Ford. The public was dead-set against U.S. involvement.

In order to get re-elected, FDR had to make a campaign promise to the American people that he would NOT involve the U.S. in WWII.

Even supplying old transport ships to England was a very controversial policy before U.S. entry to WWII. In it's early months, the war was referred to as "FDR's Folly". If the Japanese hadn't made our decision for us at Pearl Harbor, we may have continued dithering while England fell to the Axis powers. The Germans might have finished their own atom-bomb project while we continued negotiating with them (just as Iran is doing today), and we might have been looking at a different world today.

We weren't wise back then, and we are no wiser today.

Islamic leaders, particularly those in Europe, must be more forceful in their rejection of the radical Islamic element, said Schweitzer in a telephone interview.

So what if islamic leaders rejected terrorism.

First it depends on what they define as terrorism.

Second, they are just applying Taqqiya till the muslim population is large enough to take Western nations by force. If they don't take the whole, they will atleast get a part, in any partition. It may not be this generation of muslim leaders that will issue the call of war from the mosques, and the present imams know this, so they can happily issue any "moderate" statement as required. The important thingas far as they are concerned, is to keep the muslim population in the West growing.

The remedy to this war is readily at hand. All it requires is the will.

We can defeat islam easily with nary a shot fired, and to such an extent that it will collapse. We will free ourselves from this civilisational threat as well as free muslims who are in islam's servitude and slavery.
