LONDON (AP) -- Muslim leaders and scholars condemned the London bombings Friday but stopped short of criticizing all suicide attacks, with some of them saying those targeting occupying forces are sometimes justified.The 22 imams and scholars meeting at London's largest mosque said in a joint statement that the perpetrators of the subway blasts had violated the Quran by killing innocent civilians and that no one should consider them martyrs.
In a later press conference, the conferees were repeatedly asked if they also condemn suicide bombings in countries such as Iraq and Israel.
''There should be a clear distinction between the suicide bombing of those who are trying to defend themselves from occupiers, which is something different from those who kill civilians, which is a big crime,'' said Sayed Mohammed Musawi, the head of the World Islamic League in London.
''The media in the West are mixing the difference between these two, and the result is that some of our Muslim youth are becoming more frustrated and they think that both are the same, even though Muslim law forbids killing any innocent lives,'' Musawi said.
All the leaders at the news conference appeared to agree with Musawi.
Oh those frustrated muslims. We just can't make them frustrated can we?

A lot of us non-Muslims are getting rather frustrated, too. You simply cannot excpect the 'ulema (with a few honorable exceptions) to call murder and mayhem by their right names, unless it's "Them" who commit them.
OT a bit, but I noticed in the NYSlimes--oops, New Duranty Times--today that people who knew the Londonistan suicide bombers say they were frustrated because nobody held a moment of silence for the Iraqi kids who got killed.
Well, it seems to me that more Iraqi children get killed by the brave lions of jihad than by the kaffir occupiers--and, when the latter happens, it's collateral damage rather than deliberate policy as in the case of the former. Since we've had some learned 'Alim tell us as well, in response to the bombings, that there are no civilians, it is crystal clear that we're up against a religion with no respect for human life. I am just superstitious enough to think that, perhaps, we're seeing a terrible divine judgment on the world's two great post-Christian cultures as they collide and the buckling, crushing, and breaking shows no signs of abating.
'Innocent'? There is the pivot. Who decides? Infidels, by their very nature, are not innocent. You are NOT innocent Infidel if you speak negatively about Islam or impede Da'wah or you 'oppress' Islam or individual Muslims. You can drive a truck through these 'but' clauses.

Muslim leaders said there could never be any excuse for taking an innocent life, it said.
The statement said everyone must confront the problems of Islamophobia, racism, unemployment, economic depravation and social exclusion.
