I live in London, and what happened on Thursday was horrendous. Sitting with a friend who couldn't contact her boyfriend who was at Kings Cross was a nightmare. Where I live, where I work, where I go about my business- all of this was attacked. Being late for work quite possibly saved my life. This is a feeling I shouldnt have to deal with, let alone the feelings of those whose loved ones died or were injured.
But, the Bush administration has been responsible for its fair share of atrocities. The British government is not blameless in its decision to back Bush. We lost 50 people: 9/11 kiled 3,000. Many more than that have died in Baghdad. We do not live in Baghdad, and we are lucky. A situation has been created there where homes are constantly under attack, not just once. The same situation is in Palestine. Even though now it is not Americans or British airstrikes that are the problem, Western intervention has either created or exaserpated the situation.
The problem with the bombers, is that as they cite these situations as reasons for the London bombings, they are shooting themselves in the foot. By killing innocent people they are killing those who marched against the Iraq war (such as myself), and people who don't necessarily support the government that implemented these policies. The bus bomb was a short walk from where the anti-war rally had passed, as was the Kings Cross bomb. What exactly has been acheived? Tony Blair and, in particular, Bush, now have even more grounds to instigate a stronger foreign policy in the name of the 'war on terror'. Guantanamo is less likely to be challenged, as are the deportations and imprisonment without trial happening in Britain.
Equally, people on this site need to look to moderate their opinions.

Far and away more Muslims have died in the last 30 years or so at the hands of other Muslims -- the 8-year long Iran/Iraq slugfest claimed about 1 million lives, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis were murdered by Saddam, hundreds of thousands have been rendered homeless and are being raped, pillaged or starved to death in Darfur and thousands have died in Pakistan in sectarian violence between Sunnis and Shias. Where is, then, the hue and cry, the rage in the Arab/Muslim world against such massacres of their fellow Muslims?
As for the widespread poverty and misery, is this really about western economic and foreign policy, or is it about greed and corruption at home, and these same greedy and corrupt rulers manipulate their own citizens and many outsiders into believing that it's all about Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, economic exploitation by the west yada yada.
The interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq were not offensive actions. They were a response to extremely abusive political regimes that fomented terror outside of their borders as well as terrorizing their own citizens.

I don't think that the terrorists are winning by such acts in London. I'm sitting here in a small apartment in Ohio wondering what I can do as an individual to combat this Islamic threat.
After the bombings on Thursday, I was going around to many of my non-Islamic co-workers commenting how it would be nice not to have Catholic extremists bomb innocent people. I also commented how nice it would be to not go a week where Southern Baptists wouldn't behead someone and post the video. People laughed but recognized the truth.
I've been pointing people to www.thereligionofpeace.com and www.jihadwatch.com more and more. As I watch history unfold, I'm realizing more and more how this is truly an evil religion. (And for the liberals - not every Islamic person is evil, but still, no one seems to mind or actively work against these attacks in Islam’s name).
After the London bombing, I'm directing co-workers, family and friends to the websites above. I am also starting to educate my 13 year old god-daughter and her older sisters that Islam is a religion of evil. My god-daughter was so apologetic about these evil acts. Apparently, Hitler was misunderstood!!! It's going to be a long summer of un-doctrination but we're going to be going through a lot of history books. Many 'muslims' would leave their so-called religion in a heart beat if their respective governments took their boots of their necks.
