New Spencer book is available, sort of

PIGNewsm.jpg

The publication date for my new book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) is still August 8, but I have received several emails yesterday and today from people telling me that they bought it at their local Barnes and Noble already. And one person even told me that Amazon had shipped it.

So I thought today would be a good day to post the endorsements the book has received:

"To win the War on Terror, we must understand our enemies. The courageous and indefatigable Robert Spencer busts myths and tells truths about jihadists that no one else will tell. The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) is indispensable reading." -- Michelle Malkin, author, In Defense of Internment

"With a provocative and irreverent style, Robert Spencer assails, with much erudition, the taboos imposed by the Politically Correct League. A daring tonic that teaches fundamental truths." -- Bat Ye'or, author, Eurabia and The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam

"The jihad that the Western world faces today is identical in its motivations and goals to that which Europe managed to stave off almost a thousand years ago thanks in large part to the Crusades of which the West is now ashamed. In this book, Robert Spencer tells the truth that few in the U.S. or Europe wish to face. Today's jihad, as Spencer illustrates here, is proceeding on two fronts: one of violence and terror, and another of cultural shaming and the rewriting of history. Here is a devastating riposte to that revisionism -- and a clarion call for the defense of the West, before it is too late." -- Ibn Warraq, author of Why I Am Not A Muslim and editor of Leaving Islam and What the Koran Really Says

"The value of Spencer’s book is twofold. He reminds us of the consequences of our failure to come to grips with the message and implications of Islam. And he warns against the spirit of masochistic self-loathing that permeates the Western elite class. In a sane world Spencer’s recommendations -- notably that the upholders of sharia should be treated as political radicals and subjected to appropriate supervision -- would not be deemed 'politically incorrect' but eminently sensible." -- Serge Trifkovic, author, Sword of the Prophet

"With the 2005 'Kingdom of Heaven' movie trying to visualize the actual scenes that occurred between European Crusaders and Arab Muslim armies in the Middle Ages, the whole issue of the clash of civilizations came back to haunt politicians. Traditional historians used to relate facts. Politicized historians, such as Amine Maalouf, insisted that Western Crusaders were evil, and their enemies were righteous. Robert Spencer, an expert on historical Jihad, responds with a 'politically incorrect' but academically sound and challenging work. Spencer displays enourmous amount of well research material. He throws the ball back into the camp of Arabist historians." -- Walid Phares, author, Lebanese Christian Nationalism: The Rise and Fall of an Ethnic Resistance

"Sweeping away the politically correct myths about a tolerant, peaceful Islam brutalized by demonic Christian Crusaders, Robert Spencer in this powerful, important book lets the facts of history speak for themselves. The truth he recovers is simple: an aggressive, violent Islamic creed for fourteen centuries has waged war against the infidel West, a scourge of conquest and persecution that roused the Crusaders to restore the Near East to the Christian and Hellenic culture devastated by the armies of Islam. Spencer's rousing, straight-talking book is a much-needed antidote to the poisonous propaganda that compromises our current battle against jihadist murder." -- Bruce S. Thornton, Greek Ways: How the Greeks Created Western Civilization

And of course:

"May Allah rip out his spine from his back and split his brains in two, and then put them both back, and then do it over and over again. Amen." -- From a post about Robert Spencer at RevivingIslam.com

Yes, I can also verify that Amazon has shipped your book. I'm expecting it any day now. I ordered 2 copies. One for me and another copy for some neighbors that need their eyes opened wide.

Two are on order for myself as well. One for me and the other I'll donate to our public library. There is only ONE Spencer book in our entire public library system.

Congratulations Robert. I hope you sell a zillion copies.

" may allah rip out his spine..."

that's a ringing endorsement in my opinion, and proof from the enemy's mouth that RS was, and is, dead on.

of course, you can also do a hell of a lot less in a muslims eyes and still earn the same curse.
they're like a radio with the volume control broken and stuck on full blast. too bad we can't find the plug.

From LGF:

John Howard Vs. Mohammed Omran
Islamic leader wages war of words with Australian PM over terror.

Melbourne-based cleric Sheik Mohammed Omran said in an open letter to the prime minister that Howard’s remarks about the possibility of suicide bombers within Australian communities were “inflammatory”.

Howard had criticsed Omran for what he called “appalling” comments suggesting that Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden “in effect is a good man and the attacks in London were the responsibility of the Americans.” There was an obligation on religious leaders “not to incite hatred, not to preach intolerance, and that is a responsibility Islamic leaders in Australia carry very heavily,” he said.

Omran, head of the fundamentalist Muslim group Ahlus Sunnah wal Jam’ah Association of Australia, hit back in his open letter by attacking Howard’s earlier comments about suicide bombers in Australia. “This statement does nothing but entice fear into the hearts of Australians. It is your statement which is inflammatory,” he wrote.

Local Muslims “consider ourselves Australians working for the betterment of Australia. Those of us who came from other countries appreciate how the people of this country have accepted us with open arms. Islam teaches us to appreciate kindness and we wouldn’t do anything to betray this gesture,” he said.

Omran, who earlier this month dismissed “any evil action linked to bin Laden”, told Nine Network television Sunday that the United States government was responsible for the September 11 attacks. “I believe there is a ... conspiracy against Islams and Muslims,” he said. “There is a mastermind behind these things and the mastermind is 100 per cent, he is from the US government.”

Howard Monday defended his criticism of Omran, telling national radio that he believed the cleric’s views would be unacceptable to the majority of Muslims in Australia. “He’s reaffirmed that he thinks bin Laden is a good man,” the prime minister said. “Heavens above ... let’s just sit back and think for a moment. He says that bin Laden is a good man. Doesn’t that really prove my point?”

Omran denied that he had accused the United States of being behind the London bombings, but added: “I am not satisfied that the individuals behind these evil acts have an Islamic agenda.”

Congratulations Robert!

I must be one of the few people who have read it and I have to say it's one of my favorites. "Onward Muslim Soldiers" remains a close second, but still, this one is stellar.

This book takes on all the current PC myths, and will be sure to open some eyes. I pray it gets the support it deserves from the press and publisher. The time is now for the public to be educated and this is just the ticket to do it.

This is wonderful news!

Rebecca

Amazon Canada says my copy should arrive Aug 4th to 8th.

from one blurb:

"And he warns against the spirit of masochistic self-loathing that permeates the Western elite class."

It is not just the Western "elite class" that has self-loathing. There are millions of Westerners of all classes and walks of life who have been drugged by the morbidly excessive self-criticism of PC Leftism and its multiculturalist corrolary. Their numbers and the toxic cultural atmosphere they recycle through inspiration & exhalation makes the influence and power of the "elites" that much harder to overcome.

See what books your local library possesses on the subject of Islam. If they do not have 3-4 books by Bat Ye'or, 3-4 books by Ibn Warraq, 3-4 books by Robert Spencer, carefully recommend in writing, one or two at a time, all of them. Befriend the librarian in charge of acquisitions. Be reasonable. Be calm. Explain that you found the collection rather skewed, full of apologists (for it will undoubtedly be skewed that way, until you arrivfe to see justice done). Go to PTA meetings. Talk to teachers, parents, principals, school board members. Talk to those who arrange for speakers for local lecture series. Do everything that is being done, quietly but systemtatically, by those bent on preventing a real understanding of Islam -- but do it in order to check, and counter, their efforts. Make every conversation, every chance meeting, count. A word here, a phrase there, an observation, even what might appear to be a detailed lecture -- gauge your audience, see if they are receptive, or what means of entry into their minds may be available.

Don't stop.

Hugh advises:

"Do everything that is being done, quietly but systemtatically, by those bent on preventing a real understanding of Islam..."

The problem is, those bent on preventing a real understanding of Islam are not beleaguered and bereft of a support structure, as are we. The bent ones have a massive sociopolitical support structure -- in a West gone PC -- and as a consequence hardly need to resort to the tactics that we need to.

Just ordered this book from Amazon and I can't wait to get it. I haven't experienced this kind of anticipation since I was a young lad on Christmas eve.

Come join the debate at Lump on a Blog concerning Rep. Tom Tancredo and his "nuke Mecca" comments. Older comments have been archived and we are awaiting additional inputs from both sides of the debate.

I second metaxy--self-loathing seems to be the status quo everywhere now, serving as sort of a perverse Christian "humility."

It's amazing how many people--even conservative, Republican, war veterans--will go off on all America's supposed injustices, and the Crusades, the Inquisition et al, as if constantly harping on these were just risk-free, throwaway debating points.

Hugh,

I failed to mention that the sole Robert Spencer book, "Islam Unveiled," in our library was checked out.

Hopefully, one person in my town is being enlightened.

Speaking of enlightenment, when will you spring a book upon us?

To be sure, I look forward to it.

Nice cover art!

I GOT MINE TODAY.

LIKE PIGGIES IN SPACE!!

Off topic, but I think that it's about time that we started celebrating all our heroes, like Charles Martel, Jan Sobieski etc.

Should we celebrate their birthdays or when their decisive battles took place?

Are there any other heros out there that I don't know?

I'd like to have some public activities around the world where we can celebrate our heros.

Because in this battle, we will need all the role models that we can get.

Best of luck in your venture Mr. Spenser.
Bless you for your enlightenment and your resolve.
This is a battle worth fighting and worth winning.

(sorry for misspelling(?) your name. The right person at the right time.

OT. You may be pleased to know that Magdi Allam has been writing a series of articles in Il Corriere della Sera, blasting the stupidity and ignorance of Italian authorities both of the left and of the right for allowing the uncontrolled growth of mosques on Italian territory and letting sinister Gulf interests and a Muslim Brotherhood front organization called UCOII nominate imams. This is no hand-wringing piece of piety: Allam names names and denounces individual people (among other people, he castigates for this kind of reckless benevolence the Florentine city councillor Ugo Caffaz, pointing out that he is both a member of the Left and a Jew) and does so from Italy's most authoritative newspaper and at a very sensitive moment. This just might be one shot loud enough to be heard. At any rate it shows heroic courage from Allam.

Paolo. This is certainly great news from Italy. Would you be able to tell us a little about what italians think about Oriana Fallaci. My one italian friend believes she is just a crazy old lady and that Berlusconi is very rude about islam.
Do Italians still love their civilization?

Do Italians still love their civilization? It often seems that tourists love italian cilization more than the natives.

To all: Please note that The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades is now available from Buy.com. I just ordered it and expect it within a few days. I will read it just as soon as I finish Why I Am Not a Muslim, by Ibn Warraq - a wonderful, serious book.

I just got back from vacation and was pleasantly surprised to see my copy arrived early!

I really love the format . . .can't wait to finish it!

Congratulations Mr. Spencer!

P.S.

I concur with Skeet Street's comment for Hugh . . .hint hint . . .wink wink.
