Prayer leaders. This is just the latest of countless stories we have posted here involving Islamic clerics involved in terrorist activities. Yet the chattering classes continue to dilate on the Crusades and the Inquisition, as if their very existence so many centuries somehow absolves Islam from responsibility for contemporary terrorism.

ISLAMABAD: Police detained scores more people, mostly prayer leaders, over the weekend as part of a continuing crackdown on extremists following the London bombings, officials said on Sunday.At least 210 were detained in the Punjab after Friday prayers and on
Saturday, but 125 were freed on bail after pledging not to violate
restrictions, said a Punjab Home Department official requesting anonymity.Among them were 56 people who had been charged with making "provocative speeches" at Friday congregations, while 10 more were being held for selling audio cassettes and CDs of fiery speeches by clerics.
Punjab officials said on Sunday the arrests earlier last week had netted 90 suspected militants belonging to banned Sunni and Shia extremist groups, who could be held for three months under anti-terrorism laws.
And what will that accomplish, exactly?
Authorities also banned the use of loudspeakers by imams of mosques and filed charges against 350 violators just in the Punjab, an official said...."The government will not allow fanning of hatred in the country," Iqbal said. Police in Balochistan have arrested 15 people in the past 24 hours, three of them booksellers, after seizing literature on Al Qaeda and its leader Osama Bin Laden, police said.
"We have started a crackdown against those who are publishing, displaying or selling material promoting terrorists or their organisations," police officer Qazi Abdul Wahid said in Quetta.
Authorities have also filed charges against clerics and members of Islamic parties who staged rallies during an anti-Musharraf protest on Friday. The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal vowed on Sunday to launch a countrywide protest movement soon. A date for rallies would be announced after a meeting of alliance leaders on Wednesday, said its spokesman Amirul Azam.
One has to wonder how much of this is strictly for show, to impress our easily impressionable President. Other than the short-lived furor that takes place following one of the occasional attempts on the General's life, nothing much ever seems to come of these things.

A lot of activity on the ground in Lahore presently. Lots of noise & demos outside some maderassaes. However police have been reluctant to enter the maderassas and in some cased the mulanas have gone through the "back door" while their charges have protested at the front.
"General" Zia's policy have finally beared fruit, I wish he was around to see it. His laboratory of Islam that is Pakistan ....has finally started to rot towards the core. You cannot expect to give birth to serpents and not get bitten.
Mushi will either have a pact with the Madrassas to "show" that he is tough or if he means it, the bombs will begin to blow and there is little that the police can do about it.
Yes things are bad in London (or Londonistan) as many here like to call it, but that will be tiny when the MMA joins forces with the muftis and mulanas here...it's juat a matter of time.
Yes Zia can be proud of his lab. The Madrassas will try to out-bomb each other..but on civilian targets...and all in the name of Islam.

Most disturbing to me is the idea that terror scholars and terror Imams in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, US, and the UK are apparently the worst mis-understanders of Islam of all!
With the leading 'scholars' and preachers in Islam being its most ardent promulgators of hatred and violence, who's left to protect the (as yet invisible) 'moderate' wing of the religion... ?
It seems the more ardent a Muslim is, the more likely he/she is to promote terror... It seems the more fluent a Muslim is with Islam's most basic tenets, the more likely he/she is to promote terror...

Naseem -- are you perhaps willing to reconsider a few things? Would you like a sample of what Muslim websites say about Ahmadiyyas, or Qadiyanis, which you identified yourself as belonging to?
A sample can be found at the website of Yusuf Smith, in his article on the Qadianis and why they are not true Muslims. His dismissal is complete and final. I'd take that under advisement. Since mainstreamMuslims do not regard Ahmadiyyas as real Muslim, perhaps you might just slough off the dreamy belief that belonging to the Ahmadiyas will save you. It won't. It is a half-way house, not quite as far along as the Baha'i, with its vestigial traces of Islam, and of course not as far as Christiantiy or some other entirely non-Muslim faith or lack thereof. For those who don't like Islam's full monty but do not dare to leave Islam (living in Pakistan as an Ahmadiyya member must be difficult), it is understandable that one wishes some kind of protective coloration. But will the camouflage work? And is it worth it?
Hope it is some of those guys who said it was okay to rape that woman??
Looks like this is the way to stop this evil get those who teach it??
Lets see what he does with them hope they just disapear if they pop back up we will know he is not really on board with getting on with this FIGHT??

Please consider, if you hold a British passport, please consider leaving Pakistan and coming back to live in England. You will be free to practice your faith here, safe from the persecution and hatred your people suffer there. Because if the madrassas are going to start competing with each other for slaughtering kaffirs, they will both start on your community, after all, you are like lepers in Pakistan, and hated by all people, in fact each Pakistani passport contains a declaration of repudiation of the Ahmaddiya.
Please come to England and practise your faith, and if you can no longer be any kind of Muslim, come to England where you are free to worship as you please, worship Christ if you like, or if that is not for you turn to that other Punjabi faith, Sikhism. Or worship as you please your God in your Ahmadiyaa way. You are free to worship as you please here. Save yourself and your family from the coming slaughter of your people in Pakistan.
Another interesting twist to this is that apparently Pakistanis were involved in Egypt. Now Musharaff jumped, don't want to get Egypt mad, do we? Per Hugh's prescription for weakening Islam, then any interstate strife between Islamic states should be encouraged, if only by NOT trying to calm things down. Let the Islamic world get at each other's throats. That is best. Dhimmi Rice, sit down and shut up. You do more harm to America everytime you take a buzz around the world.

Mr. Rikki ....best get used to us really....the reality is that we are going nowhere....soon a muslim will be your next door neighbour, your childrains will play theirs and then your child will say "assalaim-u-laikum" because he has picked that up. Now be sure not to slap him as knowledge is power.
In time your daughter may even bring home a muslim boyfriend...be a darling and treat him well....don't forget that he may want to pray to Allah (in your home)...and you simply would do anything for your daughter wouldn't you.

Muslims know that this world, created by Allah, (swt) will also be brought to an end by Him, and that it will be followed by a new world in which all people will be resurrected and brought to account for their beliefs, words and deeds. The precise timing of the end of the world is known only to Allah (swt).
"They ask you about the Hour, when will its coming be? Say: its knowledge is only with my Lord. None will reveal it at its time save Him. [Its knowledge] is weighty upon the [inhabitants of the] heavens and the earth. It will not come to you except suddenly. They ask you as if you are well-informed about it. Say: Its knowledge is only with Allah, but most of mankind do not know."[Qur’an, 7:187]
Note the words “It will not come to you except suddenly”. This can only happen with nuclear weapons and they will be available by the bucket load to all and his dog in the next 2 decades. And lets be honest about it, the US (and the West) is gonna be powerless to spread this proliferation and ultimately the destruction of man.
Allah and the Prophet have told us of some of the signs which indicate that the Hour is approaching, drawing nearer. In the Gabriel Hadith, the angel Gabriel asks
"Tell me about the Hour."
The Prophet replied, "The questioned one is not more knowledgeable about it than the questioner," whereupon Gabriel said, "Then tell me about its signs."
These signs are categorized into minor and major signs.
On theHadith 1 authority of Anas: the Prophet (PBUH) said, "Among the portents of the Hour is that people will compete with one another in [building and decorating] mosques." [Nasa'i]
On the authority of Anas ibn Malik: He said: I heard theHadith 2 Messenger of Allah D say, "Indeed, among the portents of the Hour are that knowledge will decrease, ignorance will abound, adultery will become widespread, wine will be drunk, and men will be few and women will be many, to the extent that there will be a single provider for fifty women." [Bukhari and Muslim]
Those fifty women need not necessarily all be his wives (which are not allowed in Islam, of course). Although some people may come to falsely legitimize it (as was done by a ruler during the time of al-Qurtubi), it seems probable that among the fifty will be not only wives, but also mother, daughters, sisters, aunts, and the like.
"Time will contract (i.e. it will appear to be shorter, and itsHadith 3 blessings will vanish, such that people will accomplish less in more time), knowledge will be lifted up, stinginess will be cast [into people’s hearts], tribulations will appear, and killing will be much." [Ahmad, Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud].
"Make haste to do [good] deeds before six [things] : Hadith 4
[1] the leadership of fools,
[2] the proliferation of police / government agents,
[3] the selling of judgement,
[4] blood being taken lightly,
[5] severance of [ties of] kinship,
[6] people who will take the Qur’an as music, sending ahead one of them to sing for them, even though he may be least of them in knowledge/understanding [of the religion]." [Ahmad, Tabarani]
Here are the Major Signs
Count six before the Hour :
[1] my death,
[2] then the conquest of Jerusalem,
[3] then a [wholesale] death which will take from you like qu`as al-ghanam [a disease which afflicts sheep, leaving them dead],
[4] then the abundance of wealth to the extent that a man will be given 100 dinar but remain unhappy [i.e. inflation],
[5] then a tribulation [which is such that] no house of the Arabs will remain without it entering,
[6] then a truce which will occur between you and the Romans, and then they will prove treacherous, such that they will come to you beneath 80 banners, under each banner 12,000 [men]." [Bukhari]
Whether or not we witness all of these signs, we should realize that once we die - and the time of death is uncertain - the Hour has effectively come for us.
So please correct your beliefs, repent from our sins, increase our knowledge of Islam, and strive to do more good deeds so as to strengthen our iman and draw nearer to Allah.
One can only wish for Allah (swt) to save us from the worst of the trials and tribulations. In this respect it is probably best to be in a country like Pakistan…at least you will get it in the neck quickly and early….*YOU* will be the people who will have to live and really suffer the after affects….but you were the ones who couldn’t wait to have them…completely ignorant that other people (no matter what their disposition) will get them too.
Where else could you get such information….these awesome predictions/truths prevent people from turning away from Islam. At least we can see some sort of salvation.

Am I reconsidering my position....well yes to an extent, only a fool can ignore (or be in complete denial) about the position of Islam, it is certainly heart wrenching & emotional stuff.
Ofcourse it is extremely difficut to reconsider something that you are born into. Obviously I would dearly love for "them" to reconsider their position...but I don't suppose that will happen anytime soon.
In truth we have had very little back from the hardwork and small business that we (my Husband and I) have setup in Pakistan.
20 odd years ago when I was 1st married there was peace and space in Lahore, with little differential in Sunni, Shai and indeed Ahmadi.
Still it was there in burials (they don't allow us to bury our dead in the same cemetry), (we are not part of the Pakistani constitution either) but you sort of ignored it and kept it in the background.
20 years on ...and there isn't space to swing a cat....constant pressure to occupy more land, shops, the explosion of new mosques, maddrasses and not to mention the army personnel who want to live next door (in the nicer) subarbs.
We sometimes ge nasty types coming to the business and one has to be extremely careful not to slip that you are Ahammadi.
Mr. Zico, thank you for the kind advice, thus far Lahore is my home, and it is difficult to up sticks & leave. However, as more pressure is applied and the bombs start to explode..we may well consider something. At least we have some assets outside of Pakistan.
Catherine, I'm glad you find it all so funny, but I'll bet you have not ever had to face or walk by a large angry crowd shouting death and obsenities to the US and the UK (and all infidels), with lines of police facing them ready to shoot. YOU may have an idea of the hatred, but feeling it up close is just something else...., if these people had their way 9/11 would be a walk in the park, so you just sit there enjoy your coke in your mini skirt listening to beeky while you can.

Pakistan has stared its journey to hell and the dark days will be upon us, and if in retalation bombs come Pakistan's way... the only thing I'll say is that please make them come to Lahore 1st...at least that way it will be over soon.

Are you referring to the fundamentalists in particular and issuing a [general] warning? If so, your conclusion is a little off. The bloggers here -- trolls like soccermom, and KingTolerance who only visits dhimmiwatch excepted -- are extremely concerned.
I am old enough to see the enormous change in the composition of the Muslim community here in Toronto, Canada, once largely ethnic Pakistanis who came here from Uganda as well as Pakistan to leave sectarian violence behind and make better lives for themselves as integrated members of the community.
That has changed markedly. My first inkling that something was up was reading, about 8 years or so ago, that a reporter from one of our major newspapers tried to file a story based on what was being preached in a local mosque and the story was spiked. Now, we of course have Muslims from all over the place -- Iran, north Africa, etc., and it is becoming more common place to see women wearing not just a simple headcovering but some who are even fully veiled. We have imams like Ali-Hindy has been a very vocal supporter of the Khadr family, intimates of bin Laden and other Muslim "leaders" and organizations that are clearly jihaddists.
