Uk Police are seeking to question former NC State grad student and Leeds chemistry teacher in Egypt. From the Financial Times:
The announcement on Friday of the arrest of an Egyptian scientist in connection with last week's bombings in London has added a fresh international dimension to the inquiry into the attacks. The UK police said on Friday night that the British domestic security service MI5 was liaising closely with Egyptian intelligence on the Magdy al-Nashar case, and that British anti-terrorist officers were on their way to Cairo.
“We are interested in questioning Mr Nashar, as part of the international dimension to this investigation into the London bombings,” said one UK policeman.
According to Egypt's interior ministry, Mr Nashar denied having any involvement in the bombings and said he was on a six-week holiday and had “intended to return to Britain to complete his studies.”
UK police remain unsure about the precise nature of Mr Nashar's alleged involvement in any terrorist attacks, and there were no indications on Friday in Egypt or the UK that he had any previous record of involvement with radical Islamic groups.
Mr Nashar, who some reports suggest was actually detained earlier this week, emerged on a police suspect list after he was linked to one of the houses in the Leeds area of Northern England used by three of the suicide bombers before they travelled to London to launch their attacks.
The 33 year old Egyptian obtained a Phd in chemistry from Leeds University earlier this year, and was understood to be seeking an academic post in the UK. Colleagues in Leeds said they had not seen him since early July.
The head of the Egyptian Research Council, which sponsored Mr Nashar's research said he delivered his Phd thesis to the chemistry department the week before the London attacks and that he has spent time with colleagues there.
The arrest of Mr Nashar came as UK police sources confirmed that the London bombings involved a lethal home-made explosive which has been used by suicide bombers in the Middle East and by the terrorist network of al-Qaeda.
Early forensic investigations of the bombs raised the possibility military high explosive, possibly obtained in eastern Europe may have been used, but it emerged yesterday investigators had by Thursday morning concluded the explosive material used was TATP or triacetone triperoxide...
Isn't it interesting that at least some of the fine young men who blew themselves up in London had become more religious and started reading the Koran regularly? How exactly do Islamicists explain this phenomenon? It's very disconcerting to me that neighbors and friends described these guys as someone who would never do something like this?
The interrogations will take place in Egypt. 'Nuff said.

The finding constitutes the 15th scroll fragments found in the area from the same period of the Jewish "Bar Kochba" revolt against the Romans, and the first to be discovered with verses from Leviticus, Eshel said.
The Dead Sea Scrolls were written by the Essenes, a monastic sect seen by some as a link between Judaism and early Christianity. The scrolls comprise more than 1,000 ancient texts found a half century ago in the caves above Qumran in the West Bank, one of the most significant discoveries in the Holy Land.

Court: Bin Laden's Driver Can Stand Trial
Friday, July 15, 2005
WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court put the Bush administration's military commissions for terrorist suspects back on track Friday, saying a detainee at the Guantanamo Bay (search) prison who once was Usama bin-Laden's (search) driver can stand trial.
A three-judge panel ruled 3-0 against Salim Ahmed Hamdan, whose case was halted by a federal judge on grounds that commission procedures were unlawful.
"Congress authorized the military commission that will try Hamdan," said the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
The protections of the 1949 Geneva Convention do not apply to Al Qaeda (search) and its members, so Hamdan does not have a right to enforce its provisions in court, the appeals judges said.
U.S. District Judge James Robertson ruled last year that Hamdan could not be tried by a military commission until a competent tribunal determined that he was not a prisoner of war.
A CLITON JUDGE??
WHO SAYS JUDGES DON’T MATTER??
Sen. Dick Durbin (search) apologized a week after comparing interrogation at the Guantanamo Bay prison to the methods of Nazis and other repressive regimes.
Muslims protested overseas after U.S. officials acknowledged in May they had substantiated five cases in which military guards or interrogators mishandled the Quran. The human rights group Amnesty International condemned conditions at the prison camp, calling Guantanamo "the gulag of our time," a description that President Bush dismissed as "absurd."

Protests Worldwide Blast U.S. Over Koran
Friday, May 27, 2005
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Thousands of Muslims marched Friday in Islamic countries from Asia to the Middle East, burning symbols of America to protest the alleged desecration of the Koran (search) by military personnel at a U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The rallies in Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Indonesia, Malaysia and elsewhere followed an admission Thursday by U.S. investigators that Islam's holy book was mishandled at Guantanamo Bay (search). But American officials claimed it was often inadvertent and denied that any Korans were flushed down a toilet, as Newsweek magazine had reported in a now-retracted article.

Chemist Sought in London Blasts Caught
Friday, July 15, 2005
LONDON — A man suspected of being the bomb-maker in last week's London terror attacks has been apprehended in Cairo, the British Embassy confirmed to FOX on Friday.
Magdy Mahmoud Mustafa el-Nashar (search) denied any role in the attacks, the Egyptian Interior Ministry said in a statement. El-Nashar was taken into custody after the July 7 bombings and was being questioned, the statement said
NO SUPRIZE??
El-Nashar, a 33-year-old chemist, is a former North Carolina State University graduate student. He had been sought as the possible bomb-maker in the London attacks, which killed 54 and wounded more than 700.
In another connection to the U.S., a Homeland Security official told FOX News that Jamaican-born Briton Lindsey Germaine (search), one of the suspected bombers, spent time in Ohio in 2000. Law enforcement officials are trying to determine if Germaine may have had some contact with Iyman Faris, who was convicted of attempting to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City

Hopefully the British police would not be a barrier to the world renowned Egyptian integrators in extracting the last bit of information from that scumbag. I heard that when the Egyptians started working on the terrorist who fled to Egypt after the first WTC bombing, the FBI stepped in to save him. I mean if they waited just a few days, they would have had all the information they needed and he would have died in custody, saving the tax payers the cost of his trial and detention.
The son of a b***h, el-Nashar grows up dirt poor in a shantytown, gets to study and live in England, and then he goes on to do that… What a statement about Muslims and the religion that inspires them. The Quran has a verse that describes the infidels that fits Muslims perfectly: Say: Perish in your rage! Lo! Allah is Aware of what is hidden in (your) breasts. [3:119]
