This Reuters story (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist) is entitled, "UN seeks to bolster ties between West and Islam." Now look at how they're going to do it. How many of those do you think apply to the West, and how many to the Islamic world?
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United Nations, acting after deadly suicide bombings apparently driven by Muslim extremism hit London, launched an initiative on Thursday to build new bridges between the West and Islam.The campaign's aim was to "bridge divides and overcome prejudice, misconceptions, misperceptions, and polarization which potentially threaten world peace," U.N. chief spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.
"Prejudice, misconceptions, misperceptions, and polarization." Looks to me as if the UN has swallowed the Saidist idea that the West creates and demonizes the "Other" in the Islamic world.
To drag out this little chestnut of propaganda and suggest that it caused the London bombings is nothing short of grotesque.
Recent events had "heightened the sense of a widening gap and lack of mutual understanding between Islamic and Western societies -- an environment that has been exploited and exacerbated by extremists in all societies," he said.
Extremists in all societies, eh? What British extremists drove these poor jihadists around the bend? No stories of mistreatment have surfaced. They were living comfortable middle class lives.
Lack of understanding? I'll agree with you on that one, Kofi. I think the West needs a much better understanding than it currently has of Islamic jihad. Call me, Kofi, and I'll send you a copy of my forthcoming book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades).

So the UN attempts to build bridges while Islam blows them up, then the UN slaps itself in the head and says look we need more bridges.. What a bunch of boneheads.

In 1994 more people were murdered with machetes in Rwanda in 6 weeks than all those who have been killed by atomic weapons since their inception, the UN just stood by and watched. I think President Clinton said it didn’t meet the “genocide” standard. Well of course not, those being murdered where “Christians” not Muslims. Guess who was head of “peace keeping” operations at the time, Kofi Annan!

People are starting to wake up.
Australians are mainly interested in sport, sport and more sport.
But one thing about Australians is that they are good at calling a spade a spade.
We're just not sophisticated enough to go through the mental gymnastics required to enable people to think of Islam as being divorced from what it's adherents do.
IS BRITAIN RESPONSIBLE?
How long will it take the British to realize they have been seriously betrayed by their own government and its attendant media?
It is not Britain's contribution to the war in Iraq that has made it a target, but its long term refusal to come to grips with the huge problem of ISLAMIC extremism. A problem it has refused to face and act upon because of its obsession with progressive multiculturism and the political correctness that comes with it.
it is precisely this that has made Britain a target for the Islamic terrorist.
The idea of the rebirth of Britain as a tolerant melting pot of cultures rising out of the ashes of the old racist imperialism was one that had to be totally accepted. No negative side was allowed to be considered. anyone challenging it was ostracized as a racist.
So Britain became the undisputed center of Islamic terrorism of Europe. British terrorists planned strings of attacks throughout the world, such as the tourist bombings in Egypt, suicide bombings in Israel, the thwarted Richard Reid shoe bombing ,the murder of NYT Richard Pearl, the Ricin plots and others.
And the BBC kept the lid on my making documentaries claiming terrorism was a"figment of the public's imagination perpetrated by nefarious right wing sources.
Britain allowed its firebrand clerics to burn effigies of George Bush, the British flag, the Israeli flag in the streets of London and even supported them with generous social security payment whilst they plotted and planned. And they even protected them from extradition to countries were they were wanted on terrorism charges. They effectively gave the jihadists carte blanche to do what they liked providing they acted abroad. Was there a covenant in which it was agreed that Britain would not be touched?
In this respect the British government has acted irresponsibly in not only allowing its subjects to become victims of horrific murder but allowing other European countries to become targets of British based terrorists.
As result Britain is now peppered with large Islamic enclaves which can easily harbour terrorists of the same ilk and now has little chance of averting further attacks as and when the terrorists think they are necessary.
Too bad we are financing our own demise. We should stop contributing to the UN.
As frustrating as stories such as this are, I will state apostacy here and maintain that the UN is not all bad. An article in today's Guardia entitled "Cologne cathedral may lose UN status in skyscraper row" describes how UNESCO is threatening to withdraw money and World Heritage designation if a set of apartment buildings is allowed to go forward near the cathedral. This is novel! I love the idea of the UN hampering economic development in Cologne, and preserving a world heritage and... GASP...! a Christian site at that... It's delicious to see the multi cultis who nevertheless hate their Christian ancestry forced to comply with PC regulations to protect a valuable Christian site! I also love the idea of the over-the-top building regulations in Europe hampering their economic development while preserving the theme park beauty of historical Europe, even if hysterical Europe resides there... Anyway, it's always good to look for the silver lining -- I think I just found several!!!
