Zaki Badawi update: the British Muslim cleric can come in after all. (Thanks to Skeetstreet for the link.)
This is yet another example of the anti-terror follies I noted some time ago. If they had nothing on Badawi, they shouldn't have flagged him in the first place. If they did, they shouldn't be letting him in now.
But I notice that Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam and Tariq Ramadan, both also barred from the USA, have not received apologies and new visas.
Truly a travesty. I am ashamed of my country's policy and actions in this matter.
No Muslims 'scholars.' None. Our gov't. is determined to destroy us. Is Carl Rove or Rowe, whatever, is he an idiot? Isn't he supposed to be the main man behind the curtain? I am appalled.
The only thing that I was told generally was that because I am so active in so many fields, people were watching me," Badawi told Reuters by telephone from London.
He said he held no grudges against the United States and looked forward to traveling there again when time allowed. He said the U.S. Embassy in London "assured me that I would never, ever again run into any difficulty
He should be shadowed everywhere he goes.
Allowing in him or any Muslim propagandist is madness.
There neeeds to be a definition of what constitutes a threat. A threat need not come from someone with a bomb. Anyone whose actions objectively further the Jihad, by leading unwary Infidels to believe that Islam is other than it is, that what is contained in Qur'an, Hadith and Sira is not really there, or is being misunderstood by Infidel readers, is furthering the Jihad of the pen and tongue (i.e., propaganda, Da'wa, apologetics). He may even be more dangerous in the long run than those wild-eyed people running around in Afghanistan.
I think the INS had it right the first time. Its instincts were right. But until the definition of who or what constitutes a threat, as indicated above, is spelled out, it is likely that all those smooth talkers will be allowed in. James Carroll was much exercised today about the keeping out of Badawi. I think it was an excellent decision -- the first time. Too bad we have gotten ourselves into a situation where certain home truths cannot be uttered. This must change.
"If they had nothing on Badawi, they shouldn't have flagged him in the first place"
Wrong. US is flagging %99 of visa applications from the middle east regardless of application reasons.
Two more points.
1. The word "scholar" evokes someone bookish and gentle, someone at home in the library stacks. Well, that deeply learned theologian, the Ayatollah Khomeini, spent his life among the books. And he wouldn't hurt a fly -- in fact, others have recorded how he would try to wave a fly out the door so as not to have to kill it. A gentle and bookish man, the Ayatollah Khomeini. Unless you happened to be an Infidel.
Another "scholar" would be Tantawi of Al-Azhar, or Al-Qaradawi, the Egyptian who now lives in Qatar and his the most popular writer in Sunni Islam. But these "scholars" are not exactly going to put you in mind of Arnaldo Momigliano or Wilamowitz-Moellendorf. No, not at all.
2. The age of Badawi -- 86 years. How could he be a threat? Why not? Khomeini did a lot of damage and a lot of killing into his 80s; indeed, his old age was his most murderously successful period. That should not be adduced as evidence of Badawi's harmlessness.
No Muslims 'scholars.' None. Our gov't. is determined to destroy us. Is Carl Rove or Rowe, whatever, is he an idiot? Isn't he supposed to be the main man behind the curtain? I am appalled.
Why - Millions come across our border illegally to do the "jobs" that we won't do - of course - Why would you be surprised?
Also - OT - Hillary Clinton spoke to La Raza and offered illegal alien children in-state tution - again - why are you surprised?
of course ...
Laurel
Hillary Clinton scares me more than any old muzzie. Her overtures to La Raza and her pandering to illegal aliens is astonishing. And it doesn't make sense because they can't vote . . . . Oh. I see. The registration centers are being set up as we speak? No need to wait for citizenship. The marching orders will be: Vote early and vote often.
