WMAL succumbs to dhimmitude, suspends Michael Graham

This is yet another sad story, and it bodes ill for our freedom in America: Graham's words were inflammatory, but he had perfectly cogent and reasonable arguments to back them up. When WMAL brushes that aside and caves in to intimidation by CAIR -- and falls for its false fatwa -- it becomes that much more difficult to speak about the roots of Islamic terror, and how we must meet its threat.

Also, see this Daniel Pipes article, CAIR Founded by “Islamic Terrorists”? (thanks to waterdragon52 and all who sent this in), which expands upon information in this Dhimmi Watch post, for more about where CAIR is really coming from.

"630 WMAL Suspends Michael Graham," from WMAL, with thanks to Tim:

In a statement released last night, 630 WMAL president and general manager Chris Berry announced midday personality Michael Graham would be indefinitely suspended pending an internal investigation into Graham's July 25th remarks that Islam is a terrorist organization.

"Talk radio is an excellent forum to discuss issues important to our society. Nevertheless, the statements that Michael Graham made on July 25 crossed the line," Berry said. "He has been suspended pending an internal investigation. We do not condone his position, and we believe his statements were irresponsible."

Shortly after the second round of bombings in London last week, Graham began telling listeners Muslim leaders were complicit in terrorism, since they had not said or done enough to curb extremism.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a press release late Monday condemning Graham's remarks and urging the station to repremand him. The station has received hundreds of emails and calls since then, both supporting and criticizing Graham.

Yesterday, CAIR and other American Muslim leaders gathered in Washington to announce a fatwah, or religious edict, against terrorism, citing criticisms that Muslim leaders had not said or done enough to curb extremism.

Surely Graham and his lawyer can be supplied with the supporting texts, the texts in Qur'an, Hadith, and the details of Muhammad's life in the Sira, which offer ample evidence for the need to strike "terror" into the hearts of Unbelievers?

Indeed, why not simply forward the article by Patrick Sookhdeo, along with General Malik's guide to Qur'anically-inspired warfare? Then if, after having been presented with the evidence, WMAL still refuses to reinstate Graham, let as much economic damage be inflicted on that station, and on anyone who continues to advertise with it or has anything to do with it, as is possible.

And finally, who --what Maecaens out there or collection of them, has enough wits about him, or her, to buy a radio station or two, so that the untrammelled truth may be spoken, and heard, about all sorts of matters?

Who?

Mr. Graham's right to free speech has been compromised. What he said was not over any line because quite simply, it was the truth.

We're just going to have to continue with our work and continue to confront the Council on Arrogant Islamic Radicals.

Radio-wise, Michael Savage is a key to keeping this information on Islam flowing to the American public. He's on 370 stations and has no problem calling Islam and CAIR for that matter out on what they truly stand for.

Power to the bloggers........and to Savage

Why bother with an amendment to the Constitution with the ACLU and CAIR around.

What is most disturbing is the apathy of most Americans who sit like fat cats comforting themselves that Mr. Graham somehow "crossed the line."

The truth of the matter and one which should concern us all is this man's opinions (based on facts) were silenced.

OUTRAGED should be the feeling of us all.

There is ample evidence in the canonical texts to suggest, and many experts available to testify, that Islam encourages instilling terror in the hearts of Unbelievers. How many Qur'anic passages, how many stories from the Hadith, how many examples in Islamic history from famous historians (look in Ibn Khaldun), travellers (what does Ibn Battuta's Rihla tell us about the instilling of terror into Hindu hearts?), Qur'anic commentators and theologians (including that learned theologian Ayatollah Khomeini), manuals of war (General Malik), or the kind of blood-curdling threats routinely uttered by Muslims directed at Unbelievers ("If you do this, the gates of hell will open" -- how often have we heard that particular threat from Hamas?), from the Secretary-General of the Arab League, zzam Pasha ("There will be a massacre which will outdo the Mongols" directed at the Israelis in 1948), to Nasser directing his threats Israel-wards before those Cairene crowds in May, 1967, or so many other examples of attempts to strike "terror" into the hearts of Infidels.

On the basis of textual authority and history, Graham should have no trouble making a prima facie case for his expression of an opinion.

But one other thing has to happen. There has to be steady countervailing economic pressure brought to bear on WMAL, its advertisers, and its owners (whoever they are) so as to ensure taht the terrific pressure that Muslims will bring to bear, is met with an equal, or perhaps unequal, reaction. Among the instruments of Jihad is use of "wealth" along with "combat" (qital), propaganda (Jihad of the "pen" and "tongue") and the newest instrument, demographic conquest. That "wealth" has been cleverly deployed to prevent for many decades Infidels from acquiring any understanding of Jihad or of Islam -- other than the carefully made-up version that apologists for Islam present.

Now comes MIchael Graham and tells some home truths, as he sees them -- and for which there is much evidence. Will the grand panjandrums of WMAL deny the existence of those passages, and of those remarks by Muslim leaders, and the clear intent, by word and deed, to "strike terror" as the Qur'an says, "into the hearts of Unbelievers"? Will they deny it? Will they become collaborators with the enemy in this new and permanent conflict? If so, let them be punished by the non-Muslims in New York, and let other radio stations take up the theme, to remind listeners of the cravenness, or worse, of WMAL. Let as much damage be done to that station, to punish it, as can possibly be done -- an example made of it.

There is no line to cross when talking about the fraudulant and dangerous nature of Islam. The only line is an imaginary one, drawn by the red pencil of PC. I know of a small, public, non-profit, radio station with a large audience, that practices free speach, but that is tempered by A long term take-over by liberal broadcasters. And Board of Directors. The listenership is largely liberal, so complaints to the management occur whenever conservative, or real views are expressed. Since the station is public supported, they cant afford to offend the listenership. They stay within the FCC rules and regs, and they dont encourage religious programming. Other than that there is free speach...I doubt that telling the unvarnished truth about Islam, on this station, would be met with open arms. In the past this station has had the hunkado's to air show called,"The Local Lesbian Show"...featuring local lesbians and the glories of lesbian life...but I bet that a "Lets talk about Islam", show would not be allowed...

Here's a link to a Daniel Pipes co-authored article on CAIR retracting a goodly part of its defamation suit against Anti-CAIR that appeared on yesterday's FPM. I don't think it has been posted by Robert, so perhaps it should be. It should also be sent to Michael Graham and his legal advisors.

http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=18919

Briefly:

CAIR’s March 2004 lawsuit is part of what seems to be a policy of using the legal process to silence or chill critics. In this case, CAIR claimed it had been harmed by six statements on ACAIR’s website, including CAIR’s being founded by Hamas supporters, being partially funded by terrorists, and intending to impose Islamic law on the United States.

Then, on June 20, 2005, CAIR filed an amended motion that substantially cut back on its libel claims, retaining just portions of two of the original six statements.

Worth reading the whole article as it goes, item by item, to establish how Anti-CAIR's representations were, in fact, truthful.

FWIW, here's a petition:http://www.petitiononline.com/630WMAL/petition.html

If nothing else it'll piss off Hooper and his bunch. Have a great weekend.

So much for free speech in America.

If this was a flag burning drug addict the ACLU would be all over this.

If this was a Democrat espousing another antiamerican anti troops stance thats ok.

If it was another looney leftist college professor espousing frag the officers CAIR and the muslims would be cheering in the streets...

Boycotting advertisers doesn't seem workable. The trillions in stolen arab wealth will overwhelm any economic defenses we may try to wield.

This would be an excellent test case in a court of law -- U.S. Constitutional law, while we still have it. I doubt CAIR wants this to go to court, but Graham should not agree to any settlement. (Under our future shari'a law, of course, Graham will be executed, as will be everyone else at WMAL who hired him and facilitated his broadcasts)

Dear oh dear oh dear, this is a sad state of affairs. What on earth has the USA become ?

Jihad is "inner struggle"- Islam is a "peaceful religion"

Here is a statement from the Ayatollah Khomeini. Do you think that this statement, from a leading Shi’a theologian, misstates Islamic theology, and is simply one man’s view, or do you think that it correctly expresses a view that can be easily derived from a reading of Qur’an and the hadith contained, for example, in the “sahih” collections of Bukhari and Muslim?

“Islam makes it incumbent on all adult males, provided they are not disabled and incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of [other] countries so that the writ of Islam is obeyed in every country in the world.

But those who study Islamic Holy War will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world….Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Does this mean that Muslims should sit back until they are devoured by [the unbelievers]? Islam says: Kill them [the non-Muslims], put them to the sword and scatter [their armies[. Does this mean sitting back until [non-Muslims] overcome us? Islam says: Kill in the service of Allah those who may want to kill you! Does this mean that we sould surrender to the enemy? Islam says: Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to Paradise, which can be opened only for Holy Warriors! There are hundreds of other [Koranic] verses and Hadiths [sayings of the Porphet] urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.”

Although I disagree with the suspension of Michael Graham, as a private business WMAL/ABC may deem what is and is not appropriate. This is not a question of free speech since one is dealing with a privately held business.

Are you not surprised that the ACLU has not rushed to Graham's defense! (HA!HA!)

The first thing that I did this morning was to write to Chris Berry, the General Mananger at WMAL, with a copy to Michael Graham the following:

Mr. Berry and Mr. Graham:

I am writing this to indicate my support for Michael Graham. I was appalled this morning to hear that Mr. Graham has been suspended w/out pay while an on-going investigation is underway. No doubt Graham's suspension and this on-going investigation is the result of pressure from Muslim interest groups such as CAIR.

CAIR will do anything to stop any criticism of Islam via law suits, race baiting, massive mail campaigns. They have never renounced by NAME any terrorist supporting Muslim leader or group.

Members of the media have the responsibility to educate yourselves on Islam so as to answer or to counter what the Muslim apologists state - in many cases - sanitized truth about Islam.

As a member of the media - and I do hope - with the intention to educate your audience - The employees of ABC should acquire more knowledge about Islam than what CAIR or the "friendly" Muslim down the street tells you.

A swift reply from Mr. Berry follows:

Dear Ms. Peri,

Thank you for your thoughtful email and comments in support of Michael Graham, along with the reading recommendations. Clearly a decision such as this is not made without considerable discussion and analysis of the facts. While Talk Radio is an excellent forum to discuss issues important to our society, some of the statements that Michael made crossed the line, and that is why he was suspended. We do not condone his position, and we believe those statements were irresponsible. I would like to think that instead of “caving in” we are in fact living up to our own standards.

Your feedback is appreciated. I do appreciate you taking the time to write.

Sincerely,

Chris Berry

President, General Manager

News Talk 630 WMAL

The entire situation stinks to high PARADISE!!!

Only money counts here -- the threat of losing listeners, or the threat by listeners that they will deliberately boycott all those who continue to advertise on WMAL, and make that threat real.

What was it Andrew Marvell wrote, or at least would have written, about a modern world that elevates CUPIDITAS to god-like nearly tax-free status, and forgets the bit about RADIX MALORUM?

It has just come back to me:

And now the world becomes afraid
Annihilating all that's made
To a green thought, and a green eyeshade.

The poem of modern man, the man who "takes a leadership role," the man who minds his puts and calls, the man who wants diversity in the workplace, the man who puts great stock in first-quarter earnings, and second-quarter earnings, and third-quarter earnings, in cashing out at the IPO, or holding on for the merger and the premium for insiders, the man who rises early, while yonder breaks the dawn, but ignores the alboreal chirm so as to better concentrate in the dark, in his dark, on how the Hang Seng, and the Nikkei Average have been doing, and...

Well, isn't that what WMAL is all about, its General Manager, its advertisers, its owners? You don't think they care about appeals to the truth, do you, or the survival of the goddamn Western world?

Don't be silly.

What I wrote to Mr. Berry:

What a TERRIBLE MISTAKE to suspend Michael Graham!! First of all, do we or do we not enjoy freedom of speech in this country?

Second, giving into CAIR- with its numerous ties to terrorist organizations-is a disgrace. CAIR tries to silence any criticism of Islam, and your suspension action has only encouraged this anti-American organization. Bad move!

Finally, I'm sure that Graham could back up his assertions. There are unfortunately many aspects of Islam that ARE terrorist in nature. Here is a quote from an interview with a British jihadist in the recent Prospect magazine: "There is a speech by the Prophet in which he says: Allah gave me five things. One of them was the power to strike fear, to strike terror into the heart of the enemy from a mile's distance, and this was a reference to a battle he had commenced. The way the warriors had prepared themselves was so terrifying that the enemy didn’t even turn up to the battle. Besides that, in the Koran the word irhab is the root word for terror in Islam, and irhabiyun is the word for terrorist. Allah mentions the word in the Koran many times—the one who strikes terror into their hearts is an irhabiyun. "

Please put Mr. Graham back on the air at once.

DC: "Mr. Graham's right to free speech has been compromised."

King: I agree with this. I am a strong proponent of free speech and think people should be able to ay whatever they wish.

Hugh: "Only money counts here -- the threat of Ilosing listeners"

King: Again, I agree 100%. Eventhough I disagree with what Graham said, its his right to speak his mind and my right to disagree and take issue (as I do here).

Below are excerpts from a debate where Los Angeles Psycohologyst Wafa Sultan Clashes with Algerian Islamist Ahmad bin Muhammad over Islamic Teachings and Terrorism--she makes some good points about true Islam (from www.memritv.org).

http://www.memritv.com/Transcript.asp?P1=783

Wafa Sultan: ...In our countries, religion is the sole source of education, and is the only spring from which that terrorist drank until his thirst was quenched. He was not born a terrorist, and did not become a terrorist overnight. Islamic teachings played a role in weaving his ideological fabric, thread by thread, and did not allow other sources--I am referring to scientific sources--to play a role. It was these teachings that distorted this terrorist and killed his humanity. It was not (the terrorist) who distorted the religious teachings and misunderstood them, as some ignorant people claim...

...When you recite to a child still in his early years the verse: "They will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off," regardless of this verse's interpretation, and regardless of the reasons it was conveyed or its time, you have made the first step towards creating a great terrorist...

...What do you want from me? To speak evil of the American society? I've never said that America is the eternal city of Plato, but I did say it was the eternal city of Wafa Sultan. The idealism of American society was enough to allow me to realize my humanity...

Cheers,
Mark

Y'ALL HAVE MOVED ME TO ENTER THE FIGHT. I HAVE SIGNED THE PETITION TO SUPPORT MICHAEL GRAHAM'S 1st AMENDMENT RIGHTS AND ADDITIONALLY SENT STATION WMAL A LETTER OF PROTEST STATING THAT I WAS ASHAMED OF THEM AND HOPED THEY WOULD COME TO THEIR SENSES [OR WORDS TO THAT EFFECT]; THE PETITION LIST STATED THERE WERE ONLY 11 [ELEVEN] ENTRIES AS OF 1500EST TODAY - I SINCERELY HOPE MORE OF YOU WILL TAKE A MOMENT TO ADD TO THIS NUMBER; WHEN IT COMES TO BEAN-COUNTING DHIMMIS, NUMBERS COUNT [UNLIKE MORALITY, WHICH ISN'T PART OF THE BOTTOM LINE UNLESS THE PAYING PUBLIC MAKES IT SO]. KEEP UP THE GOOD, HARD, FRUSTRATING WORK. 100 YEARS FROM NOW, PEOPLE WILL LOOK BACK AT THIS TIME AND SEE IT AS THE BEGINNING OF A SMALL PORTION OF HUMANITY COMING TO THEIR SENSES AND ATTEMPTING TO AWAKEN THE REST OF US; WISH I COULD FEEL HOPEFUL FOR THE FUTURE OF MANKIND THAT SANITY WILL HAVE PREVAILED BY THEN, 2105 A.D.

I recently re-read Primo Levi, Survival in Auschwitz, "The Drowned and the Saved," and now I can't stop seeing I my mind's eye all of my mates going down without a struggle. Levi's point, I think, is universal.

Most people think what most people think, and most people do what what most people do. If most people sit down and die, most people will sit down and die. I think most people, even here, will silently go along with the majority of their mates to the bitter end, maybe hoping for some salvation on the way but doomed nonetheless.

I keep a daily blog, boring and unreadable, according to those who complain, but still it's come to the attention of the federal police in Canada. Maybe I'm next to find myself on the street. I'll keep swimming against the tide because I just don't care about my social status or my mixed metaphors.

I think I'm saying good-bye to you all here. Maybe that'll only last for the day and I'll be back with more. Or maybe there won't be anything left to come back to.

I'm finding this pretty discouraging. I'll probably get over it later.

Doug,
I would like to sign a petition protesting WMAL's decision, but the current petition is so very poorly worded that I can't put my name on it.

Saying that the station is in the toilet anyway and we hope to bring about its demise, this is not going to help your case. Why not limit the petition to condemning their decision, and leave it at that?

Sursum corda. Even a grey-eyed man of destiny, or his descendant, needs at times to hear that.

Found this in CAIR's e-mail notification on this matter. Let's use these e-mail contacts to let them know we support Graham's freedom of speech and we oppose CAIR's continuing campaign to silence any criticism of Islam. I recommend using personal (not work) e-mails.

King Trollerschwanz:

Your (first) feeble attempt at understanding democratic principles has been noted.

But why are you so afraid to admit that your a Shiite?

I told you before in no uncertain terms that EVERYTHING about you reeks Islamic, why deny it? The nonsense you post gives you away, the Islamic arrogance ("I am superior....!" from a recent post) and now the obvious fear of being exposed as a homosexual (seems to touch you in a special way) why?

If you live in the West put your mind at ease. Christians are not coming to get you.

But watch out for your own: They screw you today and cut your troat tomorrow!

Terminator:

Much as I don't like King, he's not a Muslim. He's Jewish, as am I. His religion is not the issue; his opinions and the way he expresses them that are, the way that in the name of tolerance, which is a good thing, he offers bad moral equivalences. Ditto for his sexuality. His opinions are neither informed by homophobia, homophilia or xenophobia.

I understand your irritation with him, but, as hard as it can be to untangle the conflations, go after him for his bad analyses.

sonofwalker, this war is hard
but don't despair,
take a break, get some fresh air,
sit by a stream and let its murmurings
wash your mind clean
of all the muck and such we take in
from knowing too much about the evil
the mohammedans are sowing in our midst.
Then come back to us,
for as a warrior you must,
and we need you, my friend.

I send an e-mail to the list of advertisers posted by Kelly. I figure it can't hurt. And if more people respond in a positive way, it might put a little spine into some people.

Disney CBS, the station that Graham works for, its biggest shareholder is Saudi "prince" Al Waleed"... the same creep who tried to hand Rudolph Giuliani 10 million dollars after 9/11 "if he would only 'address the root cause of terror'"...Much to his credit Giuliani rejected this kind offer.

No, this is not as much for CAIR or what Graham said.
All it takes is a phonecall from Al Waleed and that's it. Real money, real power.

It doesn't look good for free speech.....

Writing effective letters, is an art, however if you aren't an artist, at least use common sense.

Don't be emotional or inflammatory or accusational, or even threatening, if you are your letters will be trashcanned and you will be dismissed as a kook.

Don't be longwinded, preachy and lay off the religious stuff.

Short paragraphs (talking points).

Follow the format that I know all of you receive in mail solicitations, especially the ones from political action groups and committees.

State your case, why you think WMAL is wrong, why CAIR is wrong, and offer some subtantial evidence of CAIR's hypocrisy and the threat of Islam.

Maybe Robert, Hugh or Rebecca could provide better pointers.

Thank God for the internet and for independent publishers like FDUP and PB that the damn saudi dogs do not yet control. Truth is the worst enemy of the devil's cult.

I agree with poetess, sonofwalker. I know when I truly acknowledged to myself the big picture about what Islam wants (and they would want me dead, for sure) and you realize how developed the Fifth Column has become in America, it can literally make you sick, nausea to your stomach. They have not won. Take a day or two away from being involved in 'revealing' the true Islam. It will do a world of good.

Thanks for your post. But no, KT is a Shiite. He is certainly no Jew. He also keeps telling us that he is a "white American"- why would you post that if you didn't have an inferiority complex?
I think he's Pakistani.

I think the 50 million you mentioned were just invested to bail out Euro-Disney one or two years ago. In the US the amount invested by him would be in the billions....

Michael Graham's website offers thanks for all the support. He states:

SATURDAY, JULY 3O, 2005

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! A special "thank you" to everyone who has called or written 630 WMAL on my behalf. You have left the entire organization stunned and amazed. And you've done the impossible--left me speechless.

I don't have definite numbers, but based on specifics that I have been able to gather from various sources, a total of around 10,000 emails were sent to the various email addresses at 630 WMAL. It's PHENOMENAL. And more importantly, it blew away the few hundred pro-CAIR emails and phone calls the station received.

Just so you know, it's working. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's may not be a train. I have not been contacted by the station, but the back chatter is getting much more positive. And it's all because the listeners have spoken.

Thank you again!
