Into this house, on irregular occasions and in a variety of subcompact cars, shuttled the four young men who police now believe killed themselves in the bombings. It was also visited by a number of older men who may have been the ringleaders, recruiters and trainers of their Islamist terrorist cell. For that reason, and because the house may well be packed with explosives, investigators were virtually taking the building apart last night, and moved out 600 of the neighbourhood's residents.
But the four now suspected of being the bombers did not hail from these rough-and-tumble quarters.
In at least two cases, they seem to have come from comfortable middle-class backgrounds, where there was little to suggest that they would become major terrorists.
That's because of the persistent inability of authorities to admit that terrorism does not spring from poverty, and that the connection between the two has been disproven many times. But they can't admit this partly because they fear the alternative: if terrorism doesn't come from poverty, then from what does it come? This is a question that they fear even to ask.

Forensic scientists told The Times that the four devices detonated in London were very technically advanced rather than amateur devices made from instructions on the internet. "These were well put together, and it would appear the bomb-maker has highly developed skill," an expert said. The Financial Times reports that the explosives in the London bombings were almost certainly military TNT from Eastern Europe. It quotes a leading UK British explosives expert who said that the force and nature of the London explosions "suggest that the perpetrators acquired either military or high-quality commercial explosives, possibly from eastern Europe".
The most dramatic events of the day unfolded in the Hyde Park Road area of Burley, says The Independent, where a convoy of police vehicles arrived at around 11.30am and 500 houses were evacuated as police carried out a series of controlled explosions. Police discovered what a senior source described as a bomb factory, with high explosives thought to have been used in the suicide attacks.
Many of Shahzad's friends dismiss the idea that he was involved in terrorism or extremism. However there were signs that recently he was becoming a more hardline Muslim, The Guardian reports. He went to the mosque every day, and was a regular at at least three local mosques, said another friend who did not want to be named.
The Independent says the four young Asian men carrying rucksacks last Thursday would have attracted few second glances from rush-hour commuters at King's Cross station. "They looked as if they were off on a walking holiday," a senior security source said. The friends, only three of which have yet been identified, had travelled from Leeds that morning and are believed to have picked up the mobile bombs from a house in the Burley district of Leeds. The gang is then thought to have made their way to London in two or three hire cars.

Wasnt Burnley the place where Asian (read Muslim) / White race riots had taken place back in 2001

Two of the centres of the 2001 riots were Burnley which is in Lancashire and thus the wrong side o't Pennines as my Yorkshire husband says and Bradford which is in Yorkshire. The murderers come from Burley which is a district of Leeds near Headingley where the Yorkshire County cricket ground is. Bradford, where my father-in-law was born is about 8 miles away.
