Abbas says Gaza withdrawal is the fruit of suicide bombings

He also referred to the Gaza campaign as a jihad. From "Abbas: PA to control evacuated areas," in the Jerusalem Post, with thanks to all who sent this in:

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told a group of Palestinian youths in Gaza City on Saturday that the small jihad (holy war) has ended and that the big jihad has begun to rebuild the economy and restore security and public order.

"We want our people in a century's time to live a normal life like any other people in the world," Abbas said. "Therefore the next battle will be the real battle."

Abbas announced that he had signed a decree that would give the PA control over all lands and assets that are evacuated by Israel in the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank....

On Friday, Abbas made his first visit to the international airport in the southern Gaza Strip, where he declared that the disengagement was the fruit of the sacrifices of Palestinian "martyrs."

"We must remember that our achievements are the result of the sacrifices of the martyrs," he told thousands of supporters who gathered to greet him. "The martyrs have paved the road for us.

"The sacrifices of the martyrs, the wounded and the detainees, made the occupation leave Gaza and evacuate the settlements. "This step will be followed by further withdrawals from the West Bank and Jerusalem."

One also notices how the Jerusalem Post article emphasized and led with the part where Abbas sounded moderate. Why??

What this really means is: we are winning. But cool it, everyone. Just for now, just for the Infidels. Now it is time to show how solid and level-headed we can be. Then on to the next step -- the West Bank and Jerusalem. Oh, and in contrast to Hamas, I won't mention the obvious, which those silly boys insist on doing, which is that after the West Bank, and after Jerusalem, we will have to take the rest of Israel. It may be like Gaza -- a little spectacle for the world, with even here and there a rush of seeming sympathy, as the Jews, or those that are left, pack up and leave.

But there can be no mistake. Dar al-Islam cannot tolerate an Infidel sovereign state, no matter how small, in its midst. And while he talks of what happens in a "century" what he really has in mind is something much sooner. For his people cannot conceivably live a "normal life" ever, not in a hundred years, not in a thousand years, not in ten years, unless and until that horrible horrible Infidel sovereign state is removed. It is against Nature, against Allah, against all that is right and true and we who struggle in the Path of Allah will not let it stand.

That's it. No surprise there. But my what a good job a billion people are doing in hiding what is in plain view, and easily retrieved, easily examined, easily studied: what is in Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira. What has prompted the quite similar behavior of Muslims, in their conquest of non-Muslim lands, and their subsequent subjugation of non-Muslim peoples, over 1350 years.

It takes a lot to keep ignoring so much histoyr, and such a clear record. But Infidels everywhere, not least among our ill-educated, unimaginative, and pusillanimous ruling elites everywhere, have proven equal to the task.

I'm sure Condi will ignore it all. After all, she is getting such good advice from Esposito. I cannot believe America is buying this Administration's BS. Surely there must be a few people fairly high up in the Administration are not towing this falsehood about Islam. Who are they and why aren't they speaking up, or are they bound and gagged with political correctness? I fear the latter. Only a horrendous attack on America will tear free these bindings.

"After all, she is getting such good advice from Esposito."
-- from a posting above

I doubt that Esposito is anywhere in the picture. He cannot conceivably be taken seriously, and now spends his time picking up checks for the delivery of crowd-pleasing lectures to Muslim groups.

The problem is that she combines self-assurance with ignorance of Islam, and has not put in the time necessary, and indeed once one reaches a certain level in Washington one lives in a whirlwind of The Policy, The Team, The Team's Policy, and of course those aide-prepared little talking-points sheets, policy-sheets, that are no guide to reality, but offer a favorabe Op/Ed here, a mention on the television news there, and oh yes, the latest report on casualties in Iraq, intelligence reports on Iran, and the latest facts and figures about the training of Iraqi police and army. But a larger view -- a view that brings in such matters as attacks on Christians in Sudan, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Indonesia, attacks on Hindus in Kashmir, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, or the demographic changes, and mosque-building, throughout Western Europe, and what those trends imply -- do you think Condoleeza Rice thinks about that? Do you think she has ever heard of "Eurabia" or the three previous books by Bat Ye'or on the Dhimmi? Do you think she has a world-view of matters, or has been a good girl all her life, strict and sensible, never especially brilliant, no more a deep student of history than was that weapons systems analyst Paul Wolfowitz (now enjoying his World Bank reward), but in the context of Washington regarded as fearsomely intelligent, and promoted by others, such as Bush, in no position to judge intelligence. Unfortunately, these are the people who are now deciding matters of life and death for all of us. And those who hate them are, for the most part, even worse.

What can we do? Is there another Republican, is there a Democrat anywhere, who will begin to see the problem, articulate it correctly and convincingly, and carry the public with him as he argues for a withdrawal from Iraq based not on appeasement, but the very opposite? If he exists, would he please stand up?

"Abbas says Gaza withdrawal is the fruit of suicide bombings"

Well of course if F'ing is.

Here's a shocking news story for the Sheeple: Intifada III is already underway.

Hugh about Condi ...such matters as attacks on Christians in Sudan, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Indonesia, attacks on Hindus in Kashmir, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, or the demographic changes, and mosque-building, throughout Western Europe, and what those trends imply -- do you think Condoleeza Rice thinks about that? I believe she has no idea who Bat Ye'or is, or Fregosi (Jihad) or Akbar (The Shade of Swords) or Spencer, or any of a number of writers and scholars who could rewire her brain if only she seeked them out. I do not consider myself especially brilliant and led a secular life ignorant of Islam, and I have come far. She can too but you must have the initiative, which she lacks.

I want a leader to stand up and speak the truth as much as you and the many visitors to JW/DW. I would pray if I was a believer that it would make any difference. Surely a couple of our congressmen who may have these suspicions can eventually make contact with someone like Robert or Bat Ye'or or so many others and clear their heads and bring understanding to our leaders. It cannot continue as it is today in Washington without endangering our lives more than they are today.

Sadly, probably not. People like Tancredo have little influence. Curiously, even though Rumsfeld talks the official party line to Charlie Rose, one gets the feeling that he understands more than lets on, but where does that really get us? Real resistance to the scourge will not be led by politicians (except perhaps Sharon or more likely Bibi) Perhaps the hated Jews will inspire others to action, perhaps not. I don't know where the leadership will come from. Europeans are being victimized by their governments as much as by the scourge.

Also, maybe Landau, under the right circumstances.

I am not much for baseless conspiracy theories,
But the Policy and general behavior from administration to administration has gotten so ridiculously bizarre that I almost wonder if the whole thing is a big blackmail game with nukes emplaced and the USgov forced to adhere to the whims of the umma... ceding, and forcing others to cede land across the globe or Western cities will be destroyed.
-->> End conspiracy theory

Abass,,go gcreime na péisteoga do chuid foéadaigh.

My sorrow is growing exponentially as I view the enormous stupidity of our elected leaders and their minions...

I predicted that Rice's presidential aspirations were over back in March because of her totally inept handling of ME policy and Iraq. What seems obvious to me now is that no Republican Presidential hopeful can possibly win by advocating the "stay until the job is done" (whatever that means) policy of the current administration. If we have a candidate that combines a Machiavellian foreign policy with a Manhattan Project to find alternative energy sources, that candidate would sweep that increasingly important pool of Independents and keep the WH in Republican hands.

As it is, the country is ready to say job done in Iraq - the person who can articulate exactly why that job is done will have a definite advantage. He or she must also prepare the country for the inevitable claim of victory the terrorists will make. "Let them crow now, for tomorrow they will weep" must be the argument. Nothing less will do.

An Islamic Call for Genocide
At a very active Muslim forum, a “Senior Member” explains why all Jews must either submit to Islam or die, with extensive quotes from the Koran: A Muslim Call to the Israelis.

Would it have been possible that the best Ummah sent to mankind had not destroyed Israel long ago if we had a sincere Islamic leadership which unleashed the armed forces of the Muslim world against Israel to remove it from the face of this earth? Would this leadership have been begging for peace and 20% of Palestine knowing the Jews are cowardly and cursed, killers of prophets who Allah (swt) turned into monkeys and pigs unlike the current traitors who control our lands?

O Muslims! Resist and censor those who dare to promote that only the West Bank and Gaza are occupied and beg the kuffar to let them establish a freak entity in these areas called “Palestine”. Rebuke those who claim to speak in the name of Islam yet they prefer the UN’s resolutions over Allah’s (swt) commands. Insist that we only accept the Islamic solution which is Jihad. Insist that the agents of kuffer who rule our lands and have betrayed Allah (swt) must be removed and replaced by a single Islamic leadership for the whole Ummah which will mobilize the vast armed forces to annihilate the state of Israel and take back Palestine to be part of the Ummah once again – inshallah.

A little further down the page, the same person helpfully notes:

Also, Islam does not mean peace. This is a lingustic definition. The Sharia definition is ‘that what was revealed to Muhammed (saw) via Gabreel (as)’. This includes the verses commanding the fighting and killing.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Hugh, I have to disagree with you here. Although I do not know specifically what Condoleezza Rice knows or doesn't, during the four years I spent working in Washington, much of it in or around government agencies and interest organizations, my experience was that the people one or two levels down from major government figures had access to information about much of what was really going on, and that information would be available to the major figures if they asked. Some of the major players actually studied material themselves. Much of this does not come out via public quotes, which are often heavily edited. Bush had the courage to state and pursue a "war on terror" after 9/11 but he does not have the character depth to reject his family's entrenchment with Saudi oil and politics and hence jihadist Islam. As Bush's advisor, I have to assume that Ms Rice is advocating some form of enmity toward Israel when she suggests cutting corridors through the middle so that the "Palis" can go across. No, the "they know not what they do" stance does not work; I actually could have believed that for the Clinton administration because in some areas some of their staffers and officials were truly naive or ill-informed, but the Republicans have historically had heavy intelligence from many sources, not the least military. No. Their negativity has to be taken very seriously.
