Bakri to continue jihad from Lebanon or UAE

Erstwhile British jihadist Omar Bakri will have to settle for flying the black flag of Islam over Lebanon or the UAE, at least for now. "Transplanted Jihadi," from Newsweek, with thanks to Scaramouche:

Aug. 17, 2005 - Radical imam Omar Bakri Mohammed, whose pro-Jihad agitation led British authorities last week to ban him from their shores, now is likely to set up a new base in either Lebanon or the United Arab Emirates, according to a close associate.

British officials disclosed last week that Bakri, founder of a controversial and now dissolved militant group known as Al Muhajiroun (The Immigrants) had been sent a letter informing him he would not be allowed to re-enter the U.K., his longtime country of residence. The Syrian-born preacher had left Britain for what initially was described as a vacation to Lebanon shortly after a wave of deadly suicide bombings of London's transport system on July 7 and a second round of attempted attacks on July 21. In the wake of the attacks, Prime Minister Tony Blair's government promised to curb the activities of preachers like Bakri, either by ejecting them from Britain or taking them off the streets through new antiterror legislation or regulations.

Bakri associate Abu Yahya, a Briton who described himself as a former Al Muhajiroun spokesman, told NEWSWEEK that when Bakri left for Lebanon, he "never planned to come back to the U.K. in the first place." Bakri's "ultimate aim" was to go to Pakistan, said Abu Yahya, who said that he and other British followers of Bakri were "in contact" with the imam. Now, however, Bakri is "most probably" going to stay in Lebanon, though it is possible he could also try to settle in the Persian Gulf emirates of Sharjah or Abu Dhabi, according to Abu Yahya, who is currently in Britain. "He's a world-renowned figure. He has an international following ... He's going to continue his duties wherever he is." Bakri was picked up by Lebanese authorities last week for questioning but was later released.

Only days before his departure from London, Bakri, whose proclivity for outrageous statements made him a favorite target for Britain's raucous tabloids, declared that he would not inform the police if he knew that another cell of Muslim terrorists was planning a new attack on London. "I have said publicly, on the record, if I knew somebody was going to attack here, I will hold him, I will call the Muslims to hold him," Bakri told Britain's Channel 4 News, adding, "I would never tell the police. I am not working for the police. I would never, ever, tell the police about any Muslim. It is God-forbidden."

That prohibition is based on Qur'an 4:92.

Face it, when islamic countries arrest these guys it is for show only.

The MSM TIMES:
Quick! Bury this story!

I think that "black flag" has a skull and crossbones on it.

Like I said last week, only a mouse-click away.

This must be very hard on his family, who have been deprived of the sole bread earner in the family.

Its funny how his "spokesman" said Bakri--

"never planned to come back to the U.K. in the first place."

when on Aug. 10 he said---

“If someone is accusing me of committing a crime I will come back to clear my name, I have done nothing wrong. No one can stop me returning to London.”

Even when you have a record of what they said they stil lie or use the wonderful line of, being taken out of context or wrongly quoted.

Its just too much sometimes...like a never ending twilight zone episode.

Why not follow the example of the British secret service after WW II, and track guys like Bakri and his ilk the way many escaped Nazis were shadowed? And, when the moment is right, corner them in a dark alley, and make their off-to-the-72-virgins end look like a petty robbery gone bad.

VERY bad.

Permitting such bipedal malignancies to be free-floating in the body politic is as foolhardy and brain-dead as letting cancer cells roam about the bloodstream when you know that wherever they lodge (whether lymph node or Syria) will become a source of spreading death.

When will the West understand that the way to win against a despotic terror state (AKA The Restored Caliphate) in the making is to permanently squelch the maniacal leadership who are plainly calling for the death of the West?

Has the price of air fare gone down lately? Golly, I never noticed, but it must be cheap if some poor disabled bloke on British State Benefits for how many years? fifteen - maybe twenty?, who is burdened with wives (yes!) and seven children can jet off to Lebanon, Pakistan, Abu Dhabi - wherever the whim, or the jihadlust takes him. He must have saved up his coppers for many years - maybe he limited his kids to just once a week at the local chippie.

What did you say? He’s not a poor disabled bloke, he’s a “world-renowned figure” - oh that explains it then. World renowned figures must make good salaries - let’s pass the plate, or the hat, whatever - let’s all contribute now to the future jet-setting lifestyle of this Bakri fellow. Oh? That’s already been done at the local mosque - OK. Well, does he have to give up that $70,000 specially equipped Toyota car that the Brits so kindly gave him? A grand fellow like him should be able to have it shipped to Lebanon or wherever. I heard that Bakri plans to ask Cherie Blair - put a little pressure on Tony, you know. It’s just one more of his human rights - the right to private, customized transportation - that’s free!

But I wonder why Bakri was smirking in those photos that were splashed over the British newspapers? None of this seems too funny to me - disability is no laughing matter!

And so glad to hear he’s going to “continue his duties” in Lebanon, wherever. But since Bakri was declared unable to work by the UK Welfare, whatever could this mean - “continue his duties”? Didn’t this poor guy spend his days fighting pain and disability, trying desperately to feed his starving family?

He didn’t have to do that? You mean the British taxpayer saw to their every need, every want?

That’s good (civilized society, and all that), but I keep thinking of Bakri smirking in those photos!

I see where he said he’d never turn any Muslim in to the British cops because he’s “not working for the police”! Of course he doesn’t work for the British police - he’s disabled, not able to work for anyone, remember?

But my mind keeps going back to that photo of Bakri smirking - maybe it was something he ate?

The mullahs' moment in the sun

"Complementing its defeatist policies in Iraq and Iran, the US is further signaling its desire to quietly disengage from the war against Islamic terrorism by placing ever-increasing pressure on Israel to appease Palestinian terrorists. Aside from demanding that Israel arm Palestinian militias that are deeply involved in terrorism against its citizens and that Israel relinquish all control over the international boundaries of Gaza, Secretary of State Rice and her underlings are turning up the heat on Israel to follow up on the coming withdrawal and expulsion of Jews in Gaza and northern Samaria with still more withdrawals and expulsions in the rest of Judea and Samaria.

In light of all of this, it would seem that the time is ripe for Israel to again lead the world in fighting the scourge of jihad by attacking Iran's nuclear installations on its own. There can be no doubt in anyone's mind that a nuclear-armed Iran, a country that has already overtly threatened Israel with nuclear destruction, is the gravest security threat that Israel faces. Some political analysts have suggested that to increase his support within the Likud party, Sharon might opt to attack Iran in the aftermath of the withdrawal and expulsions from Gaza and northern Samaria."

I hope so, one way for the run to the ME.

"He's a world-renowned figure. He has an international following ... He's going to continue his duties wherever he is."....

Jihad on welfare.

Mmmmm. I wonder what the Welfare is like in the Lebanon? Or UAE? I doubt that it will be £300,000 every eight years - with a £30,000 MPV thrown in, & charity tax exempt status for your rinky dinky Jihad, & grant aid money from the National Lottery for your "book shop"........

Has he sent for his family of Junior jihadis yet? Maybe the state benefits for extended family & wives is not as favourable in his much vaunted "Muslim Lands".

Maybe his kids have gone all "Anglo native" & do not want to go to the land of Daddy's retarded roots?

Jen: Loved your post.

Thanks - I was "inspired" by my recollection of Bakri's smirk in a TV interview I caught while in the UK recently -- he was just like the Cheshire cat who'd licked up all the cream! Let's hope the Brits guard the national creamery a bit better in the future.

Hell, Jen, I've often said I have a job because I can't find someone to pay me to stay home. If I found someone to pay me as well as the British public purse as Bakri did, not only would I have cause to smirk, I would like to believe that I would have the common sense and good manners not to bite the hand that feeds me.

And for sure, like his Turkish counterpart Kaplan the would-be Caliph recently deported by Germany, Bakri is receiving a stipend for his pastoral work, if not from his congregants, from the usual suspects -- Iran or Saudi Arabia depending on whether he's Sunni/Wahhab or Shia.

"I would never tell the police. I am not working for the police".

He may not be working for the police but as a member of the public he has a legal requirement for him to notify the authorities of any planned terror attack. Failure to do this makes him an accesory before the fact and just as guilty in the eyes of the law as the perps.

And is it ture Mr. Bakri that one of your wives has been whoring around town looking for a new sugar daddy?
