Warlord Shamil Basayev has become the second most powerful figure in the Chechen rebel government as part of a reshuffle that confirms its shift toward radical Islam.Basayev, who has claimed responsibility for numerous terrorist attacks, including last September's hostage-taking raid in Beslan, has been appointed first deputy prime minister in the rebel government, according to a document posted Thursday on the rebel web site Kavkaz Center.
Abdul-Khalim Sadulayev, the Muslim cleric who succeeded Aslan Maskhadov as Chechen separatist president after Maskhadov's killing by pro-Moscow forces in March, named Basayev and other rebel leaders to posts in his government in a decree dated Aug. 23. Sadulayev also holds the post of prime minister in the rebel government.
The reshuffle "demonstrates the consolidation of the separatist Chechen government and, most probably, of its further radicalization," said Alexei Malashenko, a Chechnya analyst with the Carnegie Moscow Center.
Didn't scholars of Islam argue that it is forbidden to attack the defenseless women and children? Why, then, didn't Basayev get rejected by his own comrades for such an outrageous act of apostasy?
Maybe, it wasn't apostasy at all..

What the Chechen government's appointment of Basayev proves is the importance of the Qur'an's passages of killing non-Muslims. Yes, indeed, "slay the infidels everywhere they are found...."
Even when the 'infidels' are children, as they were at that school in Beslan.
The arab world has been practicing human sacrifice for thousands of years (a historical fact that receives far too little press, we think). Human life is nothing to them or to the 'Islamic' societies like Chechnya they continue to construct around the world.
This "honor" might ultimately result in this creature getting more exposure...hopefully just enough to find itself in the crosshairs of Russian sniper.
