Group that Tony Blair wants to ban wants to restore the caliphate

The BBC catches up to what Jihad Watch readers knew in October 2003: "Kyrgyz group aims for Caliphate," from the BBC, with thanks to Freddie Freeloader:

The London bombings have prompted the UK government to outlaw Hizb ut Tahrir - a radical Islamic group that wants to replace secular governments with an Islamic Caliphate, or super-state run according to Sharia Law.
The group is particularly strong in Central Asia, where it believes it may take the first steps towards establishing its Caliphate.

High in the mountains of poverty-stricken Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia a bearded man with a fierce gaze slices a watermelon. It is a very colourful sight - red drops of juice on the green carpet, with the glistening snow-covered peaks in the distance.

"In this village, people trust us, not the authorities," says Nur Mohammed, a local leader of Hizb ut Tahrir, which is also banned in Kyrgyzstan.

"Everybody here knows that we will solve their problems quickly and in strict accordance with the Koran. And this suits people a lot better than the slow, bureaucratic and often expensive official route."...

"We have already won the battles on prostitution, drink and robbery," says Nur Mohammed.

"All we do is talk to people about the Koran. Sometimes, it requires more than just the skill of persuasion - but in the end, we do come out on top. In our village, nobody even locks their doors now. We've taught people to trust each other - and to respect Sharia law."

But for Hizb ut Tahrir, battles for hearts and minds in small villages like Arslanbob are just routine. The organisation aims much higher.

More than 100km (60 miles) away, in the market town of Kara-Suu, we met Dilior. A carpenter by trade, he lives in a huge house with a lush garden, behind a very high and very thick fence.

Dilior is the official spokesman of Hizb ut Tahrir in southern Kyrgyzstan. Even though his group is banned, scores of journalists visit his house every week.

"All Muslims in the world already want to live in a Caliphate, under Sharia law," he says. "It will be a huge state, a very powerful state. Even now you are all afraid of us - America, Israel, you in the UK too."

What's great about some of these Muslim leaders is their inability to keep their mouths shut. They tattle on themselves and their agenda every time they speak.

Perhaps it's simply that they're too arrogant to contain themselves. However, let them keep talking, it makes it easier to locate these rotten teeth and yank 'em out of the mouth of civilized society.

Of course they are arrogant and overconfident: the Western world has prostrated itself before the barbarian hordes in our midst, in the name of tolerance and 'multi culturalism', for decades. Now, like spoiled children who have been appeased for too long, the Umma assume that they are untouchable, and that they need only make a demand for it to be met.

It's not like Israel hasn't warned us time and time again about things like this. I get so tired of hearing how this or that politician or group has woken up to the facts. This has been in front of our faces for years but nobody would listen or they turned a blind eye as long as it was only happening in Israel or some other nodescript place.

Khilafah, the global Islamic empire, is the key to understanding the big picture all.

People point out to the 72 virgins. Well, no doubt the promise of the 72 virgins in paradise is a strong enticement. But selfish motives have always a limited influence, a weak role in influencing history. History is shaped by selfless visions of glory. The 72 virgins are a fringe benefit. What the young Muslims are bombing themselves for is the selfless dream of the global Islamic empire.

Postmodernism has brought this about. People, not least the comfortable and prosperous, want to be part of something bigger and better. People want to be heroes, to contribute to cause that's good in their eyes. So there lives a well-to-do Muslim kid in Britain and racks his brain on the escape from that feckless no-vision of postmodernism. He searches and searches, and he finds his religion--Islam. And he finds in his religion the vision he was looking for--Khilafah, dominance of Islam over the entire world. He has finally found out a good, heroic cause to contribute to, and from then on his way to strapping the rucksack on his back is short.

Khilafah, the Islamic version of Hitler's dream, is what makes them tick.

Actually, if the BBC is only 22 months behind JW in its recognition of the threat of Islamic imperialism, I will consider that a major victory in the battle to disseminate the truth to Western audiences.

The question now, is whether an informed hoi polloi in the West will demand that their elected officials take swift and dramatic action to defend us against that threat by curtailing Muslim immigration, shutting down Saudi-funded mosques and madrassas, and initiating a new "Manhattan Project" to develop alternatives to ME oil.
