Indonesia's Supreme Court has rejected a final appeal from the radical cleric linked to the Bali bombings, upholding his original 30-month sentence.

Abu Bakar Ba'asyir was found guilty in March of conspiracy over the 2002 attacks, in which 202 people died.

I know this is off topic, but the issue is very critical and I don't see it getting much coverage in the blogosphere.

I appoligize to Jihad Watch for this brief lapse of blogging etiquette.

Stop the U.S. from issuing a visa to Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad which would allow him to use the U.N. General Assembly as a platform for propaganda.

For more information and to sign the petition read more here.

So poor ol' Ba'asyir will have to serve his 30 month sentence, then he's free to go.

Those 202 people will be dead for a lot longer than 30 months, not to mention those in Jakarta.

Where's the justice?

Lumpy, it is a wretched but unavoidable fact that heads of state - even the most loathsome villains - have diplomatic immunity. Not so long ago, Italy had to play guest to the monster Robert Mugabe, not because we want anything to do with him, but because he was there on UN/FAO business. His wife rubbed our collective nose in it by going on a spending spree in Via Condotti with money stolen from the Zimbabwean people. (I do think the government missed a trick there - shops that allowed her in ought to have been informed that they would be suffering the attentions of tax auditors forthwith.) But whatever the case may be, you are not allowed to lay a finger on a foreign head of state. That is the law. An ass, but the law.
