No surprise here to anyone who has actually followed what Muslim leaders have actually said in recent years about terrorism, jihad, and Osama. From Australia's Herald Sun, with thanks to all who sent this in:
EIGHT Islamic spiritual leaders who preach to hundreds of Muslims in Victoria each day refuse to accept that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the September 11 attacks.Responding to a survey, the imams from suburban and regional mosques ignored bin Laden's own confession.
Asked if bin Laden were responsible for the attacks that killed almost 3000 people, Carlton mosque imam Rexhep Idrizi said: "We don't know."
Acting Werribee mosque imam Riyad Ahmad said: "I have it only from one side. I'm not sure really."
Fitzroy mosque acting imam Bilgim Alpay said: "I don't know. It's very hard to answer. There are a lot of political games."
Only two of the 10 imams said bin Laden was to blame.
The Herald Sun asked the imams four questions relating to terrorism.
Some were reluctant to accept radical Muslim terrorists were behind the London bombings. All 10 condemned suicide bombings and most offered unconditional loyalty to Australia.
But the number who refused to blame bin Laden surprised some Islam experts.
Islamic Council of Victoria spokesman Waleed Aly said "a furious mistrust of mainstream media" was likely to be at the heart of the imams' views.
"Perhaps a feeling of being under siege creates a defensive response. Perhaps what they're waiting for is some kind of clear trial in a court," Mr Aly said.
In a video released just months after the September 11 attacks, bin Laden gloated over details of the atrocity in what amounted to a full confession.
The imams views did not reflect the broader Muslim community, Mr Aly said.
Of course not. This kind of thing never does. But when are we going to see that broader Muslim community actually do something?
> Perhaps what they're waiting for is some kind of clear trial in a court," Mr Aly said.
Yes,arent we all. I for one will be interested to hear upon whom those charged with the attempted London bombings try to pin their crimes. The CIA? Zionists? Zionist CIA agents in the pay of the Zionist media?
I saw at MPACUK they were running the 'MI5 plot' story - no real surprises there then.
Just for once, couldnt they come up with an original excuse/getout?
Why, exactly is this a surprise?
They won't condemn him because they know how popular he is to muslims and they don't want to be viewed as an apostate to other muslims.
Being labeled an apostate by other muslims is akin to being labeled an informant in a prison.

"But the number [of Islamic clerics] who refused to blame bin Laden surprised some Islam experts."
Umm, are they really "Islam experts" then? I think maybe these "Islam experts" need to spend more time studying Islam, perhaps curled up with The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam, or Islam Unveiled, or The Myth of Islamic Tolerance: How Islamic Law Treats Non-Muslims, all by Robert Spencer.
The "Islam experts" might have an embarrassed dumbfounded look a little less frequently.
Are these mullahs or imams or ayatollahs calling Osama a liar?
Not that a lying Islamic Imperialist psychopath would be anything new...
But they usually lie for some advantage.
What would the reason be for Bin Laden taking credit for something someone else did ...of the scale of 9/11?
To be hunted to the ends of the Earth until he is shot like a rat in a hole?
Well, then, more power to him.
Lie on, Osama! Lie on!
Muslim leaders won't condemn bin Laden because they agree with him and he is doing the necessary to make the world Islamic...at our expense They all want that.
I know it is hard to believe but in Spain many self-appointed counter-terrorism experts would agree with these mullahs. "Muslims must not take the blame" is their motto.
Shall we have Truth or Peace? A no-brainer
Should we make a stand? It is better an islamized Spain or a war-torn Spain? "If demography works against you, relax and enjoy". Again, the choice is easy for them. They regard those wetbacks as potentail voters, cheap labor and avid customers. I look at them as the end of a way of life based upon respect for individual freedom and as a ultra-major security threat. My neighbourhood has become 25% muslim in 8 years and most (Spanish) neighbours are liking it. Boy, how we like it.
