I am pleased to announce that Jihad Watch is now a 501 (c) 3 organization. Donations are now tax-deductible.
This is very significant, because I have always envisioned Jihad Watch as much more than a website. Our resources up to now have not enabled us to bring these plans to fruition, but this and more is still what we would like to do:
* Produce a video on jihad: the goal would be to create a documentary worthy of FrontLine or some such program;
* Create a traveling presentation on jihad: a group that could visit major cities in the US with a panel of experts on jihad and Islam;
* Host, for journalists and others, Jihad Watch forums to inform them about the nature of the threat we face, and what can be done about it;
* Establish a network of on-the-ground journalists in as many countries as possible. This has already begun at the Jihad Watch website with informants from places as far away as Malaysia and Norway feeding us information. We would like to expand these contacts into sources for frequent exclusive reports on jihad around the world, with an eye toward filtering this Jihad Watch-exclusive copy into the mainstream press;
* Produce an annual published report on jihad in America and across the planet. The goal here would be to produce a well-researched document that international religious freedom and human rights groups and government entities could use;
* Much more as time and resources permit.
But right now it is unfortunately an open question as to whether even the website will continue. I want to thank all of you who have donated through PayPal and Amazon. Even the smallest of those donations -- along with some generous grants we received -- have helped us get set up and keep going, and I am grateful for them. But now our resources are scarce and growing scarcer, and all of us involved with this enterprise -- including me -- already have to do outside work. While the costs of the site itself are minimal, every hour we spend here cuts into the time we have to earn a living. It may be that in the coming months I will have to lay off members of our already meager staff in order to keep going -- and I may even have to shut down altogether.
I don't want to do that. I am doing everything I can think of -- I have contacted Pajamas Media and will accept advertising at the site as soon as they are set up. But that in itself won't do it. The need is great. There are too few voices out there telling the truth about the global threat that all lovers of freedom face. But there may be no choice.
I hope that some of you who are reading this will consider making a major contribution to help us keep going -- and expand. If so, please contact me at director@jihadwatch.org for details.

I am hoping that, as the tax deductible donations start coming in, one of the many items added on the "to-do list" of JW, is a talk-radio program; speaking engagements at high schools and colleges; an area for MORE news, (even if it's categorized and much comes without comments, as you know you get far more news than you can print), and many more ideas to make JIHAD WATCH a common, but useful, household name.
As the 'war on terror' continues, may the real God use his/her people to keep this effort going, because we find that the jihadis are much more active in their participation towards their evil goal to destroy us than we are in teaching others the truth and how to end this war. I am sure God is on your side w/ the tax deductible donation.

United we stand!!! I am a student but this site has been very informative and I want to see it stay so I will send it what little I can. I am sure the radical Muslims and their friends would love to see the end of this web site. I have been told online and in person by both liberals and Muslims it is propaganda but the light of truth hurts.
I have told many people about this web site and I hope it keeps growing.

I don't see why this site has to shut down completely. At the least, this could be a high quality blog, much as it now is. You already have the fans and contacts to send interesting articles and news tidbits in. How much time does it take to post that, especially if it's a joint blog with some trustworthy friends? I'd hate to see advertising here. That always looks tacky. Right now, the site looks sophisticated and intelligent, and that is good for your reputation.
You need to join forces with a wide-ranging anti-jihad coalition of intelligent and informed people (some of whom are hopefully wealthy).
Most non-commercial websites rely on some form of advertising to keep them going. I'm not against advertising as such but one needs to make sure that it's a) not too intrusive and b) as topical as possible.
I have linked to jihadwatch.org from my (non-topical) website for a while now. I'm not sure if this has done a lot of good (traffic wise) because, as I stated before, the website is non-topical.

I have read in the comments section here over the past 18 months some of the most reprehensible writing anywhere on the Internet, some of which is mine. I have also read some to the more acute analyses of jihad in our time, some of the most touching personal testimonials, some of the best writing anywhere on the Internet. What now?
Some of us have tried to organize this community of writers and thinkers into a public movement of dedicated activists, not very successfully, so far. And now it seems (or SEAMS) that some of the best work to come from the Internet itself is destined to evaporate into the Aether. Our community seems to be on the edge of the abyss. We will, perhaps be forced by this turn of events to turn to our communities themselves, to our friends and neighbours to discuss our understanding of the global threat of jihad against the Modern world and our very selves and our families. That would be a good thing, but it is not enough. We can do more, concretely and successfully.
I've urged our fellow readers over these long months and years to form committees of like-minded fellows to work toward a specific goal of propagating the message of Jihad Watch within our neighbourhoods by printing leaflets and pamphlets, and we have done so. It's not enough. We must do more.
This time, as the sand runs out from under us, I propose that we form committees again, this time to scour the archives here from day one, month by month, for the best letters we as a community of writers have written here. We could produce many volumes of letters for our communities, for our nations, for posterity. Perhaps we could make money to donate to Spencer's organization.
I propose that we work in committtees of threes, each taking a month, month by month, compiling the best of the best, and then we publish the work of the Jihad Watch community.
We are the media. We are the mainstream. These volumes of work are already written and awaiting the eager minds of the public who don't yet know of what Spencer has accomplished here. If two of our readers here will volunteer to work with me I'll start my end today. We can rotate in and out to give the works a fair balance. Or we can do nothing and let the whole past couple of years go out the window.

Our civilization is based on market economics. We need to look at Jihad watch from this angle.
For me, Jihadwatch is the most important center of information as I believe it is for many others. This information is of value, it saves me a lot of time and effort, it keep me up to day and sane during this crazy war. How much am I willing to pay for me? That is a question that people actively participant ought to answer by themselves. Am I willing to pay? Of course, I am so I bet many other will be willing to? Should we limit access to those that do not pay? Of course NOT! Because time is critical and our way of life is at stake. Should we stop the comment area? I think this is not a good idea because it is the best way to keep this web community alive.
So, what about
1)A monthly subcription to Jihad Watch. Let us have some time of scale...$20, 40, 50 etc per month. Any services obtained by it? None, otherwise it would be run as a business and problem would have tax issues? After all I pay for the magazine that I recieved at home and most of them are not worthy.
2)Have a forum area similar to many other in the web? Something similar to faithfreedom.
I hope for the best. I will contribute.

I am grateful for the opportunity to support JW in my humble manner, but if the comments close down what will happen is that dedicated opponents of Islam, will break away from the mustard seed (JW) and form smaller groups in their immediate locality, (this is now happening) courageous voices are being heard, and those who previously detracted, are becoming more silent.
Today I bought a copy of the Koran and will read it,I also loaned a copy of the Karen Armstrong 'Muhammad' (she glosses over barbaric acts and makes comparisons out of context with the Bible, her introduction adduces that Muhammad's use of the sword is validated by Jesus' use of the text Matthew 10:34
34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
This shows that Karen Armstrong does not know her Bible because the Sword Jesus speaks of is the Holy Spirit, (The Judge, the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth). Karen should know that Jesus was not a pacifist in speech, his teaching is scathing of idolatry, but it is also shown that he loved sinners, the poor and the sick, nowhere in the Bible does Jesus advance a policy of physical warfare, and her comparison to Muhammad is cheap even for a failed nun, and academic.
Anyway my present course is to educate myself and i would extol all those out there to do so too, also it would be good if we could find people to help us polish our writing and speaking skills.

Thinking a little along the same lines
#1 Publish all the the archives including the comments,in book/pamphlets form,as there is a lot of information within.There should be enough material to make a few volumes.And all proceeds should go JW/DW.This books or pamphlets can only purchased through JW/DW
#2 Keep the comments section open,but only subscribers can have access to the archives.
#3 Jihad watch has grown in a way that is not entirely the what Robert intended,but it is never-less today a very important site and continue in its present form.So It is up to us Anti-jihadis to find a way so as to enable this site to continue,and for a way for Robert to "go to the next stage"
I just made my Paypal donation. The 501 status is important to me. For the balance of the year, every time I am asked to donate to something I will donate here. I do not make huge donations in any one year, but will be very glad to put Jihad Watch on my tax return. Just as I am very glad my state representative is Tom Tancredo. Although at this point in time both Robert Spenser and Tom Tancredo are "untouchables" in the end I would like to be counted as one of those who believed them.
