No surprise here. A report from Itamar Marcus and Barbara Cook of Palestinian Media Watch:
IntroductionIsrael's leaving the Gaza Strip is being presented by the Palestinian Authority and the Hamas as a victory for Islam.
Palestinian Authority religious leaders and Hamas have for years been presenting their conflict with Israel as part of an unbroken religious war, which Allah is waging against Jews - a conflict whose climax will be the extermination of the world's Jews. (Palestinian Media Watch has reported on this ideology. See documentation below.)
Within this context, Israel's leaving its towns in Gaza now, is being presented as a victory of Islam in this war. Palestinian Authority Television hosts and participants alike are calling the Israeli moves from its towns as a 'great victory for Allah'.
The Hamas website publicized numerous posters that declare the same religious victory theme. The Hamas poster below, showing a face of Hamas founder Ahmad Yassin laughing, superimposed over a somber religious Jew, presents the Sharon evacuation plan as a victory of the Koran over the Talmud. The words on the poster: "Our Koran proves that we were right and your Talmud proves that you were wrong..."
Another Hamas poster shows a rifle and the Koran with the words: "With those two together the victory has been achieved."
One example from the Palestinian Authority's official daily:
"...The manager of the office of the Ministry of the Waqf in northern Gaza, Farid Al-Nayard, said, '...last Friday’s sermon was under the title ‘On that day the Believers will be glad with the victory of Allah.''"
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, August 13, 2005]In June 2004 Palestinian Authority religious leader Ibrahim Mudayris already preached the religious significance he saw in Sharon's plan, connecting it to an event described in the Koran, specifically focusing on Israel's plan to destroy the towns before leaving.
The Koranic event and the present expulsion, according to this senior PA imam, have numerous parallels:
1. Attacks by Muslims against Jews
2. Jews become fearful
3. Jews destroy their own homes
4. Jews flee their towns
Mudayris' sermon of June 4, 2004"If you [today] trust in Allah, like Muhammad's companions, by Allah, it will not be impossible for Allah to expel the Jews…
"[Allah] fought against them [as is written in the Koran] through their weak hearts because they are cowards. When they saw someone killed, terror entered their hearts and they started destroying their own homes.
"And now the media reports that they will leave the settlements. Indeed, they will leave Gaza. They will leave submissive, by Allah's will. They will leave defeated, like it or not, in the face of this great victory."
[Ibrahim Mudayris, PA TV, June 4, 2004]The following is the text Mudayris was referring to in the Koran:
"He [Allah] is the one who has caused those of the People of the Book [i.e. Jews] who disbelieved to leave their homes unto the first expulsion. You did not think that they would leave, whereas they [the Jews] were certain that their fortresses would defend them against Allah. But Allah reached them from a place where they did not expect, and cast terror in their hearts so that they destroyed their homes with their own hands and the hands of the believers...!"
[Surat Al-Hashar]From the Archives
Previously reported examples of numerous Palestinian Authority religious and academic leaders presenting the war against Israel as a religious war that will end with the extermination of the Jews.
1. Muhammad Abd Al Hadi La’afi, responsible for Religious Teaching and Instruction in the Office of the Wakf:
"The battle with the Jews will surely come...
"The Prophet spoke about in more than one Hadith and the Resurrection will not come without the victory of the believers [the Muslims] over the descendants of the monkeys and pigs and with their annihilation."
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 18, 2001]2. Ibrahim Mudayris, Head of the Association for Memorizing the Koran
"The Prophet said: the Resurrection will not take place until the Muslims fight the Jews, and the Muslims kill them. The Muslims will kill the Jews, rejoice [in it], rejoice in Allah’s victory. The Muslims will kill the Jews, and he will hide...
"The Prophet said: the Jews will hide behind the rock and tree, and the rock and tree will say: oh servant of Allah, oh Muslim this is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!"
[PA TV, September 10, 2004 - view this clip here]"The Jews will not live under our rule agreeably permanently, since they have been treacherous in nature throughout history. A day will come when all shall rest from the Jews...
"Listen to your Beloved [Muhammad], who tells you about the most dire end awaiting the Jews. The tree and the stone want the Muslim to bring every Jew to his end. You all know the Hadith."
[PA TV, May 13, 2005 - view this clip here]3. Muhammad Ibrahim Madi
"All the weapons must be aimed at the Jews, Allah’s enemies, the cursed nation in the Koran, whom Allah describes as monkeys and pigs, worshippers of the calf and idol worshippers…
"Nothing will deter them except the color of blood in their filthy nation … unless we blow ourselves up, willingly and as our duty, in their midst…
"We will fight against them and rule over them until the Jew will hide behind the tree and rock and the tree and rock will say: 'Muslim! Servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, kill him."
[PA TV, August 3, 2001]4. Dr. Ahmad Abu Halabiya, Sharia [Islamic Law] Rulings Council and Rector of Advanced Studies, Islamic University
"We the Palestinian nation, our fate from Allah is to be the vanguard of the war against the Jews until resurrection as the prophet Muhammad said: 'Resurrection will not arrive until you will fight the Jews and kill them.' We the Palestinians are the vanguard in this issue and in this campaign whether or not we want this."
[PA TV, July 28, 2000]5 . Dr. Hassan Khater
"Muhammad said in his Hadith: ’The Hour [of Resurrection] will not arrive until you fight the Jews and the rock and the tree will say: O Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!’
"...Allah meant our land and our people and meant our trees and our stones."
[PA TV, December 27, 2004]
Well we are not seeing Israel practising the moslem tactic of scorched earth.
HMM
It is up to the palis now ???????
Question of the day
Who is going to rule GAZA now
The PA
HAMAS
or Chaos
Well I'm sure chaos will rule the day. I don't believe for a minute the Palis will "create" any normal type of existance in the Gaza Strip.
Wether you believe the Jews should have left or stayed - this move has empowered the Palis to continue the fight.
I'm sure Sharon knows very well what will happen.
Europe, the US, and the world have been demanding that Israel pretend to be working towards a Palestinian homeland. Sharon is tired of all the double-speak and lies and BS, and he's going to allow the Palestinians to have their own little territory right up against the rump of Egypt so that Egypt can share the pain of having them as a neighbor. The Golan Height and West Bank are too strategically important to give to the enemy. Gaza, while a valuable coastal area, possesses less strategic value. What will come of it?
No doubt Gaza will be a land of utter chaos. Al Qaeda is already in Gaza, and more will come. Hamas, Fatah, the PA are already planning to import a bunch of terrorists from Lebanon into Gaza. They will attack across the borders both into Israel and Egypt. They will oppress the Palestinians in Gaza with their absurd religious decrees. I think that Sharon wanted to stop paying the Jizya to Gazan Palestinians, to stop protecting them from their own extremists, to let them shiver in their own carnival of horrors, and to demonstrate to the world exactly what would result from the defeat of Israel.
I can't believe though, that the G8 actually plans to pay $3bn to Palestine. All funds to Palestine should be frozen until an accounting for all the stolen funds that went into Arafat's bank accounts and those of his cronies and family can be produced and those moneys repaid. Palestinian aid money should no more be used to buy guns, bombs, and anti-jewish terrorist propaganda, or even less objectionable items such as furs, cigars, liquor, and apartments in Paris. Why throw good money after bad when we know it's going to finance the murder of more innocents by Palestinian jihadists?
Now that the Palestinians have a homeland, won't this mean world peace and an end to global jihad?
just kidding,
kevin
Yes, and I'm certain whenever the Coalition troops leave Iraq, it will be touted as a great victory for Islam as well... and there will be no memory that we said we would leave as soon as practicable... and I'm certain a certain publicity-seeking woman and her followers will also consider it their "victory" as well... Not enough blame to go around, but plenty of glory apparently...
Robert, I know I left here with a degree of acrimony a few months ago, but, with these most dire of circumstances tragically underway in Gaza, I wanted to return with this post to express myself to an audience which I hope understands...
Thank You,
-MZ

I cannot begin to express my sorrow. That Jews could do this to Jews in the Land of Israel...how can this be? Perhaps we do not deserve to posses the Land yet. Maybe we are not ready to claim our inheritance and are doomed to be scattered among the nations for another millenium. I don’t know.
The galut grows more stifling every time I see a Jew being torn crying from his home or synagogue by the police, who are deporting them away because they are Jews - and only because they are Jews. Oh, such a horrific sight.
What is the purpose for such a thing? Jews have committed no crimes in Gaza, have not been making trouble or harming anybody. They have prospered against all odds in fact. They converted a “cursed desert” into rich citrus farmland. Have made beautiful suburbs and wonderful communities with their own sweat and love of the Land.
Is it all about the money? Are 9,000 Jews being deported into DP camps because Sharon wants to save some sheckles? If so, this is no reason. Jews are a dollar figure to him? The Land of Israel is nothing but a commodity to be bought and sold according to the market values? A terrible thought, but the Sharon Casino plan stinks of opportunism at the expense of Jewish lives.
Security? Please. Every credible military analyst concurs that this only weakens Israel’s ability to patrol the Gaza strip and prevent it from becoming a terrorist launching pad and islamic weapons dump.
Has there ever been a time in history when a nation was victorious in war, reclaims the land that is its rightful ancestral home, and then later expels its own citizens which had come to settle it and returns the land to the enemy as a “good will gesture”? This is madness.
I feel each Jewish soul as it gets ripped out of their home and off of their Land. They earned the right to be there. They were success stories, who paid the price under fire to make it work because they wanted to live as Jews in the Land of Israel.
Now, though, we see that the Land is not sacred to Sharon’s Israel, that Jews can be thrown out like disposable cameras or contact lenses. With each Jew being evicted, with each grave being unearthed, with every home that is razed, I feel the Jewish collective soul being crushed piece by piece.
I know we do not often understand why God works in His ways, but my deepest prayers are that these people being expelled will not have settled the Land in vain, and we will somehow see them return to Gaza soon and in their lifetimes.

Now the Isreali's don't have to fight random terrorists. They will now be fighting the Palestinian Nation when attacked from Gaza. How Engenious!!!
Glad you are back, MZ.
Cappy said "Now the Isreali's don't have to fight random terrorists. They will now be fighting the Palestinian Nation when attacked from Gaza. How Engenious!!!"
And now the terrorists won't have to mess around with collecting blood money through phony charities in the mosques; as a nation, they can directly accept financial aid from other nations. The Eurabians are willing to start the bidding with $3 Billion. That's alot of Kassam missiles! Engenious indeed!!!
Madzionist, there are alot of us with very heavy hearts today. We can only hope that things will somehow work themselves out, despite the best efforts of our leaders.
Today is a day of great sorrow for me...it is the day when all of this hit me at once. I watched and became teary eyed when Jews were dragging Jews from a Synagogue. Jews being man handled by fellow Jews. The apple of Gods eye once again being dragged through the mud..does it ever end? I cannot imagine the intense sadness they feel when they are forced from the land they called home...the arid desert they made bloom and the pride they felt in just being a part of Israel.
Jews are ,in my opinion, are some of the most beautiful people on this earth. It seems at times they have the Midas Touch. They were put through horrors that none of us could ever imagine ,and for making it through, were given a sliver of desert to call home. They did not cry and demand more even when they got shafted in the deal.....no, they were happy with what they got and just wanted peace. They were bombarded with wars and Hitler type hate time and time again, yet they turned a sliver of sand into a modern day Eden, Defeated gigantic armies of well equipped soldiers with nothing but faith.
They are truely an amazing people and yet the world still spits upon them and still wants them extinguished. All I can do is pray for the land of Gods chosen few...I just pray their horrors end because if anyone deserves a break it is the Jews.
If there are any Jews reading this, my prayers and the full of my heart are with you from now until my days are gone...your faith is all you have and He will never forget you so dont EVER forget Him....God Bless

Thank you Carolyn2 for the warm welcoming you've shown me.
Pocadon, your heartfelt post was very moving and touched me deeply. Thank you for writing those beautiful sentiments. This is one Jewish man who appreciates hearing such kind words at this most difficult time.
I hope this horror ends safely and swiftly, and, God willing, may Gaza be filled with Jews again sometime soon.
Ariel Sharon will be remembered by Jews forever for the evil he has inflicted upon the Children of Israel.

This expulsion has been bad, but not bad in the way the world media have depicted it. It may yet ricochet in Ariel Sharon's face and propel him out of office. From Israel, the love of the people for one another:

OUR LAND, OUR ONLY LAND
Rabbi Yosef Benarroch
This week has strengthened my love for the Land of Israel and for my love of the Jewish people. This week I have discovered anew the beauty of living in this land and the privilege of belonging to the Nation of Israel.
Many people have a hard time understanding how there are those who can love a piece of land so much. After all earth is earth, what is so special about earth in Israel? They ask, why are the Jewish people so connected to a little piece of land in the Middle East? The answer can be found in this week’s Parasha. The love affair of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel could not be more evident than in this week’s Torah portion of “Va-ethanan”....[more]

Emotional Letter to the Soldiers Expelling Us from Our Home in Ganei-Tal
This is the letter which my dear wife Hanna Sender, my beloved partner to life and to the dream named Ganei-Tal, wrote to the IDF soldiers sent to expel us. It was posted on our door yesterday afternoon when we left the house.
This morning the letter was given to the soldiers by my son and daughter-in-law who had stayed in the house until the very last moment, which was our agreement with the army. The letter was read by the expelling soldiers and passed around to many others who heard of it. My son received a number of heart-rending letters from soldiers who participated in the expulsion at Ganei-Tal.
This is the letter:
Wednesday, August 17, 2005, the day we were expelled from Gush Katif
Dear Soldier,
No, this is not weakness
Nor is it surrender
Although we are not here any more
I do not have the physical or emotional strength to wait for you here in my home.
I left out of concern for our health and welfare instead of meeting you face to face. I just do not have the strength for that. I know with all m heart that I have done everything in my power in democratic ways and through prayer to ward off this terrible thing.
Twenty-seven years ago we arrived here, a young couple with two children. Here another four were born. Three of our grandchildren also live here in Gush Katif, in the town of Neveh-Dekalim. We built a nursery for house plants and not many years ago founded the katif.net website.
We were raised, and we raised our children, too, to believe in God, and to love our land, including Gush Katif.
Gush Katif is our whole life. We know no other.
But if this was fated to happen, it must be God’s will. Even if we do not understand His reasons, we believe that everything that happens in this world is due to His will.
So I am getting up and leaving my home.
I am leaving in great sadness. It is terribly difficult for me. My hands and legs are weak. Whoever does not experience this can never understand, even if they say they do. But I pray to God that there will never be other people who will have to understand the way we did.
But I also know that we won!
We won because we are still here today.
We won because we overcame so many difficulties over the years, economic difficulties, security problems, a geographical location that was not always convenient.
We won because in our struggle we kept our faith in God and our belief in His love for His people.
We won because we did all we could for our land and our people.
We won because today we leave with a broken heart but with our heads held high.
We won because we have left behind a twenty-seven year history of building and doing in Ganei-Tal.
We won because our life in Gush Katif was entwined in the life of the entire People of Israel.
We won because our struggle will never be forgotten.
We won because Gush Katif will never be forgotten. Gush Katif will become part of Jewish and Zionist history; it will become not just another chapter, but a symbol, a model to be imitated.
We won because we believe that our task is not finished.
We won because we know that we must go on.
We won because we love you, dear soldier!
Dear soldier:
I have no doubt that the task you were given is terribly hard for you, no matter what your political philosophy and opinions are.
I am putting my house at your disposal. Use it as long as you need, and show respect toward it when you leave.
You will probably meet two of my children who decided to wait for you here. Please treat them with consideration and respect and make sure they come back to us healthy and well.
Let us be strong, for the sake of our people and for the sake of God’s cities. And may God do as He sees fit.
Moti and Hanna Sender, Ganei-Tal

A Soldier from the Expulsion Forces Writes in a Letter: “The Moments I Experienced with You Now Give Me Hope for the Jewish People that I Love So Much”
The following amazing letter was written by a soldier who had come with the unit that had been ordered to expel the people of Ganei-Tal. The letter is a reply to the “letter to the soldiers” by Hanna Sender that had been read to the group of soldiers who had come to our modest abode in Ganei-Tal.
This is the third time I’ve tried to write this note, in which I want to say what I cannot express in speech. Even in writing I cannot describe how heartfelt these words are.
In these times I find myself thinking mainly about the future: how will I be able to live a moral, Jewish life, and work toward the attainment of the ideals in which I believe.
I think about these things because I know that this community succeeded in building a life like that. My greatest fear was that the truly ethical entity that grew in these dunes would disintegrate. I did not know what I would have to face when I arrived today.
Now that the moment has arrived, I understand that I am standing face to face with exactly the kind of life I’d like to live.
I thank you for having opened your hearts and told your story. The moment I just experienced with your gives me hope for the future of this people that I love so much.
Thank you,
A.S. (katif.net has the full name)
Shiva:
Do you think either the PA or Hamas are into good governance by the people and for the people?
Hamas isn't corrupt, but will quite happily assassinate people on suspected morals violations. The PA will stuff their pockets and reward their loyalists. Both are very ugly actors, just slightly different in their "strengths".
...and, Shiva, of course both will go on attacking Israel so long as a single Jew remains anywhere between the Jordan River and the deep blue Med.
I am a Jew, and I am an Israeli [currently in NYC but never the less...]. Morally we have every right to be in Gaza. However, one cannot deny the words that have been spoken in our nation ever since we REgained the "Territories," and the words that were reiterated by sharon the other evening on Israeli television. "THe Arab birthrate doubles each and every generation."
Now, even if there were more than 8 thousand odd Israelis living among more than 1.4 million hostile Arabs, the Jewish Israeli birthrate does not come anywhere close to doubling every generation.
We are then left with a quandry, "What to do?" We could just continue grossly inporportionate expedentures, deploying tens of thousand of valuable torrps and related forces to adminster the local Arabs and protect the Israeli residents. That is not a permanant solution however. The only real option, short of "Withdrawal/Disengagment" is to fomally annex the land as we did with E. Jerusalem.
However, formal annexation automatically extends the full and equal rights of all Israelis to the local, hostile Arab population. Thus, within a single generation it is very possible [neigh, probable] that the local Arabs could accomplish what all their bombs, bullets, and rhetoric could not; With simply the vote, they would be able to easily negate the Zionist character of Israel. We would destroy our glorious nation.
This is reality.
Unilateral Withdrawal is the best and smartest option for our continued survival and regional primacy. We will not be negated. We will continue to exist as a strong and vital nation. We also have the distinct advantage of being able to unilateraly set teh new borders, as well as retain air, sea, and ultimate security rights in Gaza. Let them kill each other as we lock the door behind us.
