Police in Nottinghamshire are being given green ribbons to show solidarity with the Muslim community after a rise in racist attacks.The "Good Faith" ribbon is being backed by chief constable Steve Green.
Racially motivated attacks in the county have doubled since the attacks on the 7 July, according to figures from Victim Support.
Twenty thousand of the ribbons have been made to symbolise belief in Muslims as a people of peace.
Mr Green said: "We have a huge number of Muslim citizens in Nottinghamshire who are just going around trying to do their everyday business.
"But they feel intimidated and sometimes ostracised by racist incidents and by the perception that the white community suspects everybody with a brown face of being a suicide bomber.
"Many people feel fully supportive of the Muslim communities but have no way of showing it and this is a way of allowing them to do that."
He added: "Officers will not be compelled to wear these but I have written to my force urging them to take part."
This makes me so angry, why show empathy with a population that is against our own system, if I was a police officer I would tell them to stick the ribbon where the sun does not shine, though of course any PC refusing to wear one has marked his cards against promotion.

China - 1.3 billion non-whites - is doing very nicely in economic terms, they have very few issues with America and anti-Americanism is rare amongst the Chinese.
India - 1 billion non-whites - (a country I know very well) has very few anti-American issues. They feel very uncomfortable about the USA's good relationship with Pakistan and China, but the economy is so regulated that American firms can't do much business there, so their impact on the local economy is small. The Indian government has never been a puppet of the USA, in fact it was always closer to the USSR. Yes there was the Bhopal scandal, but that was 20 years ago and things have moved on.
Japan - both my grandfathers fought in WWII. If the bombs cut short the war by just two weeks, and saved just 500 British lives, then they were worth it. (But of course they probably cut short the war by 6 months and saved 50,000 British lives). But, alas, what do you care about British lives? As for Japan - 130 million non-whites - their economy is doing fine, they are not under the American thumb at all! In fact American business suffers from them. This is proof that a US ravaged nation can bounce back by its own strength.
Latin America - I lived there for three years. The few remaining Leftists are anti-American, but in general the countries manage their own affairs with very limited economic contacts with the USA. There are hardly any Americans in Uruguay at all! The bad old days (1953-1989) when the Americans were too much into their affairs have passed. Countries like Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile are not really dirt poor, and should be classed as "2nd World" rather than 3rd. I think a Brazilian worker gets paid as much as a Malaysian worker. The US relationship with Mexico is very good, and the US has allowed tens of millions of Mexicans to take American citizenship - which can't be called oppressive or racist.

I actually have a relative that lives in the US. He is not an Americano, he is an American. America is a great country, opportunities to make a good living, high quality of life, very good place to live.

All the things you have raised have been addressed. Islam is a faith that is universal, it only grows in strength. Is that what you oppose? That is something else, well you should know that when it comes to World affairs friendship means nothing, Bush has told the UK that even after what the Brits did he did not owe us any favours, no matter how angry that made me feel he is right, that is just the way it goes.
