As a great philosopher once said to me, "Well, duh!" From AP, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
WASHINGTON - Some weapons entering Iraq are coming from Iran, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Tuesday, though he indicated it was unclear whether they were coming from elements of the Iranian government or from other parties."Weapons clearly, unambiguously from Iran have been found in Iraq," he told a Pentagon briefing. "It's a big border. It's notably unhelpful for the Iranians to allow weapons of those types to cross the border." He did not provide further specifics.
And speaking of "duh!", who is paying for all these arms shipments? Rpg's and C4 don't come cheap. How are these few lone radicals coming up with the funds all by themselves?
I just LOVE Rummy's brevity and understatement. Talk about restraint! And his hand movements - always amusing to watch.
Now, what is Mr. Rumsfeld going to DO about said "unhelptful Iranians"?
More to the point: Shouldn't Iran's actions, given its attitude toward the United States and Islamic imperialism, constitute an act of war against the U.S.?
Time to return the favor.
IED's all over Iranian roads wherever the ayatollahs ride.
RPG's aimed at their houses.
Semtex seat cushions in their SUV's.
Let's see how they like it.
Personally, I prefer the philosopher who said:
"What goes around comes around."
(Especially if the round is of a high calibre.)
Joeseph D'H said "Shouldn't Iran's actions ... constitute an act of war against the U.S.?"
Good question. In Islamic nation after Islamic nation, from Afghanistan to Pakistan, from Saudi Arabia to Iraq, we see the government using terrorist armies by proxy to do their dirty work. They arm them, provide them shelter, then give a tsk tsk when they start killing. The Syrian support of Hezbollah in Lebanon, that led to the bombing of the Marine barracks under Pres. Reagan was another example.
When will we hold the governments responsible for the actions of their citizens?
Joseph D'Hippolito:

As far as I can tell, Iran declared war on the United States back in 1979 when they attacked our embassy and took hostages. (At least their government did.)
The question is: when are we going to treat it as a declaration of war?
But the tricky part of it is that there are probably more genuinely pro-American people in Iran than anywhere else in the Middle East. So we can't just go in and start bombing the crap out of them--that would be counterproductive to say the least. Iran is a difficult situation no matter how you look at it.
OT:
AL BBC is up to its old tricks:
Just switched on the TV to see a "Peter Dunn", an openly gay man who is 'most concerned' about hate-crime, especially against "Muslims and other minorities" in Britain.
Hate-crime, they say, is up 600 per cent. There are many "victim support groups..."
I suspect there are more support groups than victims...
I think it takes some serious head-chopping at BBC....
with the comment above
"What goes around comes around."
wouldn't it be more where goes a round comes a round?
as for the weapons coming from iran why not the jihadis come from a lot farther than that.
still think we should start dipping our bullets in pigs blood and making it common knowledge we do so
Donald Rumsfeld: "We know where the Weapons of Mass Destruction are. They're in the area around Baghdad and Tikrit"
LOL. Anybody believe this? It's not even in Iran's interests to fund this insurgency. Their man (Ayatollah Sistani) is already in power. Why would they fund a Sunni Arab insurgency?
This is a load of crap and every one of the sheep here is eating it up.
Ryan: baaaaaaaah (sound of a sheep).
I think Iran would fund the devil himself to attack our American friends - giving arms & logistical support to the Sunni's is a win win situation for them
Sunni's get armed> Sunni's attack Americans> Sunni's kill Americans> Sunni's get killed by Americans.
Win win: 2-0 to the Mullahs.
Rumsfeld is really such a fool anyway. Gosh, the Iranians are a bit miffed about the US invading the country next door? Why is that? Didnt they love us before? etc, etc...
I've said it before - disengage from the whole sorry mess and let them tear each other apart. Its pretty much guaranteed that within a few months, the size of the ummah will be much reduced, with consequently less to worry the rest of the world.
And as for the Iranian bomb - well, again, who cares? In spite of assiduous arms-buying, from both the US and the former Soviet Union, and the French, whats the best that Iraq ever came up with? A few crappy scuds that could just about make it over their borders. And Iran has not had , I dont believe, such unrestricted access to the arms dealers, and the technology of the west. Remember that science (and as far as one can tell, independent thought of any kind) is pretty much un-islamic - my bets would be on them blowing a pretty big hole in their own forsaken desert (and then blaming the joos, no doubt)...
Albion:Sunni's get armed> Sunni's attack Americans> Sunni's kill Americans> Sunni's get killed by Americans.
Win win: 2-0 to the Mullahs.
Thats called "Lets you and him fight"...A Tactic...Guess Ryan is too steeped in leftist PC to figure that out by himself...So let the sheep enlighten him...
To quote www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/08/10/iran.iaea/index.html, titled "Iran breaks seals at nuclear plant - Aug 10, 2005",
"A spokesman for the IAEA said the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog would have preferred Iran not remove the seals and restart full operations."
Ouch! That's a little harsh, Mr. IAEA Spokesman, isn't it? Are you some kind of Islamophobe?
I can see the future story now: "The IAEA today expressed its disappointment that Iran has used its nuclear arsenal to destroy several cities in the Middle East and in Europe, killing millions of civilians. 'If these unwarranted attacks continue, we will have no choice but to take the matter up in the U.N. Security Council', an IAEA spokesman warned. 'Believe me when I say we will stop at nothing, up to and including a U.N. Resolution that condemns and severely reprimands Iran for its actions.'"
Terminator: by what I can make out, the hate crime they talk about is mostly people shouting a few words of abuse in the street, and the supposed 600% growth is from an infinitesimally small base line anyway. Just the manipulators up to their old tricks.
