Surprise! The London bombers may have been connected to jihadists among our friends and allies the Saudis. From Reuters, with thanks to Nicolei:
LONDON/RIYADH: Security services were investigating on Sunday a Saudi link to the London bombers after a prime suspect for the failed July 21 attacks was charged with trying to murder passengers on the capital’s transport system.Yassin Hassan Omar, a 24-year-old Somali national who came to Britain at the age of 11, was the first of the four main suspects named by police to be charged in connection with the attacks on July 21.
Exactly two weeks earlier, four British Muslim men killed themselves and 52 other people with bombs on London’s transport network. Both waves of attacks targeted three underground trains and a double-decker bus. A Saudi security source told Reuters officials in Riyadh had told British intelligence services of a series of text messages and e-mails sent to Britain by suspects in Saudi Arabia, including Moroccans Abdulkarim el-Mejjati and Younis al-Hayyari, over a period of several months earlier this year.
The source said on Sunday that information from the interrogation of suspects also revealed several references to Britain, but no proof of a link between militants in Saudi Arabia and the London attacks. “That’s what we’re still trying to find out. Either they were (linked to the bombings) or there is another network there,” he said, adding that suspects in Saudi Arabia had also sent money to Britain.
Mejjati, who the Saudis say was also linked to bombings in Casablanca and Madrid, was killed in a gunfight with Saudi security forces three months before the London bombings. Hayyari was shot dead on July 3 in Riyadh.
Security experts have said the July 7 bombers must have had support, but how much, and who and where from, remain unclear.
What a shocka! After all that friendly hand-holding on the Crawford ranch, I thought the Saudis were our friends and allies in "the war on terror".
Good thing they're the custodians of Mecca and have still have scads of oil(although, some claim there's less of it than we think. Otherwise, we might be forced to invade them.
So, these are our 'allies' in 'war on terror'.
If only we faught a a real war (war on terorrists), chance are we would be fignting our so called 'allies'!
To the Saudis, everything that is not in their interests to reveal will remain "unclear".
A word which is an anagram of the most important one in this whole context.
The more "unclear" Islam remains, tactically, the more "nuclear" it will become, ultimately.
And what will restrain an essentially world-hating cult -that wants either annihilation or domination- from ANY acts?
They "don't love their children, too" (as Sting once sang during the Cold War about the Soviets) so there will not be that kind of parentally rational -or even humanly compassionate- restraint from their quarter.
Plus, they have contempt for everything but their own nihilistic interpretation of a warlord's dogma.
As they endanger the West- and its allies- more and more, they will need to be driven to live in containment zones of Islam. Where they can stew over the suras for a few centuries and maybe kill off their own maniacs enough to rejoin Civilization in a millenia, or so.
Inshallah?
I guess one Saudi looks (and acts) just like any Saudi, right? And the Saudis that kill terrorists are really just terrorists in disguise? And the Saudis that report to MI6 & MI5 that there's a Saudi connection are only practicing taqqiya.
Or something....
