They're "choking off the money supply that will choke off the terrorists." I guess they've established a stranglehold on Saudi bankbooks. From the Washington Times, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
Terrorists looking to move millions of dollars out of the United States to fund global strikes have resorted to a kaleidoscope of new schemes aimed at hiding illicit cash, but one of the nation's top terrorism investigators says law-enforcement authorities are up to the challenge.Marcy Forman, who supervisors 6,000 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at 156 field and 52 foreign offices as head of the agency's Office of Investigations, said newly created law-enforcement partnerships are "choking off the money supply that will choke off the terrorists."
This effort is largely vain. As long as the OPEC bonanzas remains, and Infidels do not come up with ways to steadily diminish those accident-of-geology revenues, or to seize some of those Saudi and other Arab Muslim assets, or to force payment for "protection" (giving a new meaning to the phrase "Protected Peoples" and possibly to the definition of what would constitute the ahl al-dhimma in light of an unwritten "pact" that will cost the Al-Saud a pretty penny for their "security" or future safe-houses in the West), or to use up some of those funds -- by requiring the unblessed-with-oil Arabs and Muslims to make their demands not on the Western Infidel nations, but on the rich Arabs -- unless all this is accomplished, shutting down a bank account here or there will not matter.
After all, it is those mosques and madrasas in the Western world, those Western hirelings of the rich Arabs who offer propaganda and apologetics, who are instruments of the Jihad, and not merely the terrorists who are funded by this or that group.
And so far the Western world has failed to understand that there are many instruments of Jihad, and money is one of the chief weapons -- possibly the weapon which has made all else possible.
Everything must be done to diminish the total revenues of all Muslim states. It does not matter if, within that closed universe, Saudi money goes to Egypt, or Kuwaiti money goes to Oman, or U.A.E. money goes to Pakistan. What matters is that the total amount of money diminishes, and the amount that can be used to fund the Jihad in Infidel lands is cut off, or taken away, or a combination of the two. This is not impossible of achievement. But it will require an understanding that this is not only, or mainly, a "war on terrorism." It is a war of self-defense against the manifestations, both local and universal, of the Jihad that aims to spread the power and might and ultimate dominance of Islam.
Of course, if you find that there is nothing objectionable about Islam, if you find positively heart-warming the Total Explanation of the Universe, the Complete Regulation of Daily Life, the habit of mental submission in every area of life, the mixture of crazed conspiracy theories and rumor and hysteria and hate that define much of Islam, if you do not mind a belief-system that inculcates a vision of the universe in which Believers and Infidels are forever at war, and the loyalty of Believers can only be owed to fellow Believers, no matter how badly they would appear to behave, and no loyalty at all can be offered Infidels, no matter how generously they behave, if you do not mind a belief-system that bans music, statuary, most paintings, free and skeptical inquiry -- in short, if you do not regard Islam with horror, as those who begin to study it and who keep their wits about them, and have some sense of what constitute achievements in human history and what does not, inevitably must come to regard it -- then by all means, stop reading right now.
If, on the other hand, the more you study Islam, its tenets, its attitudes, its atmospherics, the history of how Muslims have treated non-Muslims in time and through space, the more you come to find it cause for distrust, for alarm, for horror -- then you will understand why diminishing total wealth at the service of Jihad, and not striving to shut down this or that account, is the only undertaking that makes sense.
