Terror Suspect Arrested with German Info

German towns? Now wait a minute. I thought we were supposed to believe this was all about Iraq, and if we just left there, there would be peace. Well, those who have been reading Jihad Watch regularly already know better. From Deutsche Welle, with thanks to Trupolitik:

An al Qaeda suspect arrested in Pakistan on Sunday night was carrying a computer with maps and details of German and Italian towns saved on its hard drive, according to Pakistani security sources.

Could Germany have been a target for a major terror attack? According to reports that a Pakistani terror suspect arrested in Faisalabad on Sunday, it could well have been.

The reports, attributed to information gained by the Associated Press from a Pakistani Secret Service employee, suggest that al Qaeda suspect Osama Bin Yousaf, the operator of a public telephone call shop, was caught in the northeastern industrial city in Punjab province in possession of the computer containing the details of four towns, a number of credit cards, dozens of CDs, three grenades and two AK-47 machine guns with ammunition.

Bin Yousaf has not yet explained why he had the plans of the four towns saved on the computer. Official refused to identify which towns were detailed on the computer.

The Jihadis could make no worse mistake than to target countries that cannot be directly associated with the war in Iraq. The West is slowly awakening from its slumbers, but there are those who would like to lull us back again, and the connection between Iraq and terrorism is their favourite refrain. "Look at the Germans and the French and the nice Spanish - they have either not gone to Iraq, or left, and as long as they have stayed out nobody has done a thing to them. Why can't you be more like them?" But if a bomb exploded in Cologne or Lyon or Madrid now, it would make it difficult, even for the most obstinate apologists, to insist on that excuse.

Nevertheless, I believe it will happen. These countries all have their murderous juveniles eager to shed a little Kuffir blood, and going to Iraq to kill Americans is all well and good, but it costs money, it can be dangerous - Americans tend to shoot back - and it does not have the satisfaction potential of seeing the streets you have grown up in turned into slaughterhouses. For the pleasure of killing for Allah, killing one's neighbours gives far more bang than killing strangers you have never met. Sooner or later, some bunch of 17-year-old freaks will download the instructions from a jihadi site, build a bomb, and set it off in an European city centre. Then even Chirac and Zapatero will find it hard to explain.

I am not so optimistic. They *should* find it hard to explain *now*, and they still do.

On the academic mailing lists I am on, everybody is still in deep sleep. I don`t know what, if anything, can wake them up.

Apparently multiculti tolerance dogma must be maintained even it includes self-destruction.
