Sigmund Freud said in 1919 that Woodrow Wilson had entered that psychic fantasy land, when Wilson was trying to get the Treaty of Versailles approved and calling that dastardly pact (which helped bring Hitler to power) things like "the incomparable consummation of the hopes of mankind."
I hold no brief for Freud, but it seems to me that the whole world today has become Woodrow Wilson, exchanging wishes for fact: sure that the vast majority of peaceful, law-abiding Muslims are behind anti-terror efforts in the West; sure that moderate Islam both exists and will easily defeat the jihadists intellectually and theologically within the Muslim community; sure that the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza will bring peace to our time; sure that if we just don't talk about the problems within Islam, this will somehow encourage and empower genuine moderate Muslims -- wish after wish, each as fantastic and as divorced from reality as the last.
Wilson, said Freud, was "rapidly approaching that psychic land from which few travelers return, the land in which facts are the products of wishes, in which friends betray and in which an asylum chair may be the throne of God..."
By contrast: "The man who faces facts, however unpleasant they may be, preserves his mental integrity."
Thank you, Dr. Freud, for your certification of our "mental integrity" here at Jihad Watch, where we are interested only in facing facts.
And thanks also to Dr. Thomas Woods, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History, from which I took these Freud quotes. Woods' book, of course, is the first in the series in which my book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) is the second.
An arab muslim Palestine is a "psychic land." There is no history, no archeology, no culture, no nothing to justify the turnover of the Israelis' ancestral homeland.
You mean to tell the entire population of Western Europe and North America that wishing doesn't make it so? Goodness, why didn't you say so sooner?
Another answer to the riddle of life this evening at dinner with my new friend: she mentioned the Rorchach Morality Test. It was a private dinner, so I'll just leave the bare outlines here, and you can fill in the appropriate substitutions.
There are only ten Rorschach inkblots.
Don't hold the card at an unusual angle. Watch how you phrase things. Say "This looks like ..." or "This could be ..." never "This is..." After all, you're supposed to realize that it is just a blot of ink on a card. By the same token, don't be too literal and say things as, "This is a blotch of black ink." Don't groan, get emotional, or make irrelevant comments. Don't put your hands on the cards to block out parts. The psychologist will watch for all of the foregoing as signs of brain damage.
If there are no right answers for the test, there are some general guidelines as to what is a normal response. You can probably see images in the inkblots proper and in the white spaces they enclose. Stick to the former. Don't be afraid of being obvious. There are several responses that almost everyone gives; mentioning these shows the psychologist you're a regular guy.
You don't want non sequiturs, images that don't fit the blot in the judgment of the psychologist. These may be signs of psychosis.
Since time is a factor, it is important to come up with good answers fast. (It looks particularly bad if you take a long time and give a dumb, inappropriate answer.)

My contribution to the riddle:
Two things; first, I am currently collecting urls of random-generators as a passive hobby, so this is a sweet find. If you have any others, let me know.
Second, I ran this url:
http://www.elsewhere.org/cgi-bin/postmodern/
through the Poem Generator and got the result below (after a few tries and some editing--I believe in being cybernetic). It is a random postmodern essay generator. So, you have a random postmodern essay made into an algorhythmic [sic] poem. Enjoy.

Yup, all we have to do is look at the current state of affairs, make up some randomly generated "pomo" phrases, and hey, we're smart!
She takes Prozac, and I take Viagra. What a great world.
Amen Robert. The denial of what you cannot avoid seeing is like an ostrich with its head in the sand. Is it over yet? Not by a long shot.

Mr. Spencer-
I've read the source book for the quotes by Woods: Sigmund Freud's (and co-author/friend William C. Bullitt's) work "Woodrow Thomas Wilson- a psychological study", a truly fascinating exploration of a populist public thinker terribly out of his element... and one that makes you wish there were a Freud for every activist president.
His "Civilization and Its Discontents" is a must-read for understanding Islam's underlying tenor, as well "The Future of an Illusion".
For all of his shortcomings, anybody the Nazis threw out of Austria rather than hear what he had to say about their Fuhrer's mental state is all right by me.
(A pity he died in exile in England shortly afterward ...before he had a chance to write a similarly revelatory psychoanalytical treatise about Herr Schicklegruber's foaming fanaticism, as well... but then Freud's whole career was an anti-despotic, pro-rational effort at illuminating the dangers of our unexamined shadow side, from "Wit and Its Relation to the Unconscious" to "Totem and Taboo".)
In his own words:
"Civilization began when the first angry person cast an insult instead of a stone."
(If only the Mohammedan morons could get that through their 7th century skulls!)
Another good look at the mind of the deluded is Eric Hoffer's "The True Believer". Also, the very entertaining works "Games People Play" and "What Do You Say After You Say Hello?" by the psychiatrist Eric Berne, the father of Transactional Analysis.
Robert - Talking of Politcially Incorrect work - I was thinking - if only someone could talk Mel Gibson into doing the Politcially Incorrect Movie on "Charles Martel".
After "The Passion of the Christ", he's a Pro at PC incorrect movies. We already know his old man is against Islam with past comments.
Oh and the French connection would appeal to his Catholic heart.
Anyone know Mel??
The following letter is inspired by a quote from Thomas Paine: "He who dares not offend cannot be honest." In the text that follows, when I quote from Mr. Sonofwalker, I will use the word "excrement" in place of another word which is now apparently permitted in general circulation publications, and which I have edited out. He says that it's okay for him to indulge his every whim and lust without regard for anyone else or for society as a whole. That is the most despicable lie I have ever heard in my entire life. Many of the things I've talked about in this letter are obvious. We all know they're true. But still it's necessary for us to say them, because Mr. Sonofwalker cannot completely conceal his true animus and inspiration.
