A controversial Islamic cleric has left the UK for the Middle East, his spokesman has said, amid speculation he would be investigated for treason.Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed - former head of radical group Al Muhajiroun - left on Saturday for Lebanon, his colleague Anjem Choudary told the BBC.
Tony Blair had warned Mr Mohammed's organisation faced a potential ban under new anti-terrorism measures.
Mr Choudary said the cleric believed "Britain had declared war on Muslims".
Actually Bakri declared war on England, a long time ago.
Bakri must have feared prosecution if he was willing to give up 20 years of "benefits" by leaving the UK.According to the article the crown was investigating Bakri for treason. The article says the death penalty for treason was only abolished in the UK in 1998 the current penalty is life in prison.Treason is still a death penalty offense in the US. The Brits may need to bring back the death penalty for treason.

After the publication of the 'First 24 hours of the Khalifate' in which you outlined your dystopian vision for our country. After all of this you flee at the first sign of trouble. For one gleefully sending impressionable young men to their deaths you seem peculiarly reluctant to back up your grandiose declarations with even a bit willingness to suffer for the cause.
Maybe now the wild eyed legions foolishly indoctrinated into believing that louder shouts count for better arguments will come to the shocking realisation that they are nothing more than expendable cannon fodder in the fulfilment of the delusional dreams of cowards. If the Brits really want to deter terrorism, they ought to expell the families of terrorists.
