Insurgents and foreign terrorists in Iraq are being financed in part by the illicit drug trade originating in Afghanistan and passing through Iraq to Europe, congressional and defense sources say.Money from Afghan-produced heroin is being used by terror cells to buy weapons and equipment, and pay Iraqi citizens to conduct attacks on U.S. troops and to plant deadly improvised explosive devices (IEDs), U.S. officials say.
In a Sept. 8 letter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, House International Relations Committee Chairman Henry J. Hyde wrote of an "emerging and dangerous growth of the illicit drug trade in Iraq, especially with heroin, now originating and pouring out of nearby Afghanistan."
"We can no longer ignore the threat to our national security from drugs in Iraq," the Illinois Republican said in the letter, obtained by The Washington Times.

The true cost of Islamic heroin on the streets of all societies they are working to undermine is massive & truly unknown - partly because our dear leaders deny the link.
Growing the market for heroin in the West is a major war aim of Islam.
Yes, I clearly remember reading about this in Islam Unveiled. What's most abhorrent about this report is that Robert made this observation as early as in 2002, and only now does the MSM break the news about the herion-terror tie to the American Public. Even so, who's breaking this news? It's not the mainstream AP, AFP, or the dhimmi Al-Reuters, but the progressive Washington Times, one of the few non-dhimmi news sources.
This only serves to emphasize the desperate state of affairs at the MSM. If it's only the Washington Times that reports such glaringly obvious incidents, without investigating thousands more examples of the jihadist activities, sites like Jihad Watch remain the only way towards the public awareness about the true nature of Islam.

Funding terrorists and terrorist regimes with drug money has been going on for a long time. I remember seeing color photos of the thriving marijuana industry in Lebanon and the Bekka Valley way back in the early 80's. Huge crops of nice looking weed, bailing operations, etc.
Now we are seeing shootings in Mexican cities along the Texas border that resemble the mayhem caused by the cocaine cartels in Colombia. Still haven't clamped down on wetbacks, either, even though Homeland Security says it is likely that terrorists are entering with the other illegals.
In 1979 or 1980, I tested some survival gear in the Big Bend area of west Texas. I hired a Mexican to take me across the Rio Grande in a row boat. Cost me two dollars. No customs, no passports, no problem. After about a week, I met up with some customs and border patrol agents, brought out my quadrangle maps, and pointed out the smuggling routes. They nodded, examined my maps (better than their own), and shrugged their shoulders. They were more interested in checking out the antelope population for the upcoming hunting season.
Later, I got to thinking how easy it would have been to sneak a small nuclear device into the USA. I even thought about contacting a local newspaper and offering to take them on the route, so they could write a nice story. I was too busy, or lazy, and never acted.
About two months ago, I mentioned this to a judge I know (who is AWARE of the threat). He said it was probably a good thing I kept my mouth shut, as I probably would have been branded a "trouble-maker" or, worse, even a "terrorist". Such is the slope of the hill we are climbing.
