We Americans, with our singular heritage of religious freedom, endeavor to think the best of all faiths. But the past four years — since Sept. 11 — have challenged our accustomed ecumenism.The questions arise: How much do we actually understand about Islam, and is it compatible with liberal democratic ideals that evolved, uniquely, in the West?
Elected leaders tell us that Islam is a religion of peace and that the Muslim terrorists who destroyed New York’s World Trade Center, slaughtering 3,000 noncombatants, adhered to a perverted form of their own faith. Muslim leaders in America now routinely condemn terrorist acts against innocent civilians.
“Islam considers the use of terrorism to be unacceptable for any purpose,” declared the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) after the recent bombings in London, also perpetrated by Muslims. “MPAC condemns the exploitation of people and issues, regardless of the perpetrators and their justifications.”
Although Muslim spokesmen may condemn the killing of innocents — neglecting to make explicit who “qualifies” as innocent — few have spoken up to condemn and disown the Islamic doctrine of jihad. The reason may be that jihad, which means “to strive in the path of Allah,” is so much a part of Islamic faith and history, it represents a permanent Muslim institution.
The foundations of the institution are found in the Quran. Sura (chapter) 9 is devoted in its entirety to war proclamations. There we read that the Muslim faithful are to “slay the idolaters wherever you find them. . . . Fight against such as those who have been given the scripture as believe not in Allah. . . . Go forth, light-armed and heavyarmed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah. That is best for you, if ye but knew.” ...
This fourth anniversary of the carnage of 9-11 — caused by a major act of jihad terrorism — would be an appropriate occasion for contemporary Muslim clerical and ruling elites to formally acknowledge, renounce and begin dismantling the devastating Islamic institution of jihad war.
I aint holding my breath here on the west side of the Pacific Ocean, in anticipation of Muslime clerics renouncing their religious intent or even expressing genuine sympathy for the 9/11 victims, or the Bali, Madrid, London etc victims.The [PC] media here grandly announced Islamic condemnation of terrorism on 9/11 day..which ammounted to no more than Muzzies complaining about being "victimised" because of alleged terrorism supposedly being carried out by a tiny minority of exremists, and there is still an Imam of standing who claims the 9/11 attacks to be an Amerikan/Zionist plot. Yeah, that old trick.

Hell will freeze over first before that happens, and I'm sure you know it yourself.
OTH, if the ummah was threatened by deportation enmass from the US, then they will say anything to prevent that catastrophe, even to the extent of modifying the English version of the Qu'ran. Their reliance is that sooner or later, the population of muslims in the US will be sufficiently large to force changes. The tragedy is that this is already happening in Britain, and to an extent in the US.

I have been thinking of the appeasing policies of the Blair government. On first thought, it certainly appears the wrong thing to do.
However let us consider the matter a little further.
One thing one must bear in mind is that the real threat comes from the rapidly expanding muslim population in Britain, and the West in general. So the quicker one acts to reduce and eliminate this threat, the better.
One then asks, how does one arrive at a stage that one is able to take the action that is required?
Many have taken the view that only a major attack on a Western city, maybe a nuclear event, will finally wake the West. But that means that one is "hoping and praying" for a major catastrophic attack to occur fairly soon, or it will be too late, as the demographic conquest will already be near completion.
The other approach is to give in to muslim demands, and even make concessions that were never asked for. This creates even more demands, and more acts of terror, and then more demands. One thus rapidly reaches the point, at which even the most supine government and people will say, "Enough is enough".
The Blair government, knowingly or unwittingly, is adopting the second approach. I know there is simmering anger in the UK, though softly uttered, with Blair's response to the terrorist massacre of 7/7. This anger is growing with each act of appeasement by New Labour. I sometimes wonder if this is a pre-meditaded policy.

Posts occasionally, but is getting rapidly cheesed off with Labour's appeasement.
Its only wishful thinking, that Islam will reform itslef to be accepted in the 21st century. It appears in recent years; its going backwards to the 7th century.
The problem with muslims is that from brith they are brainwashed with the nasty stuff in the qur'an as the divine truth.
They dare not question anything, they are not entitled to have doubts like normal individuals and use logic and common sense to discern what if fact and what is fiction.
In a way most of them are apologists for the way Islam conducts itself in this modern age.
In Islamic communities anyone dare not question Islam, its calling for ones death. Many Muslims who live in the west have left Islam in recent years one could see that by the various web sites of the so call "apostates". But no one dare even question Islam in Muslim countries. Jihad is here to stay. Its time the Western nations impose some control on the islamic populations however unpopular that may be, that is the only way to safegard our way of life.
