DC Watson: CAIR: Trivializing 9/11 for the sake of Islam?

DC Watson considers how CAIR wants to airbrush more than just a few hijabs:

Who knows? Perhaps drawing hijabs on bareheaded women in photographs is more demanding than we could've imagined.

Nevertheless, it seems to be time for yet another reminder, and a lesson in reality for the Van Goghs at the Council on American Islamic Relations -- for they have incorrectly described some of those who died on September 11th, 2001, and failed to mention who it was that killed them.

CAIR: CO Rep's 'Crescent' Comments a Ploy to Gain Publicity
GOP leaders urged to repudiate Tancredo's Islamophobic views

WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/13/05) The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today dismissed Rep. Tom Tancredo's (R-CO) comments on the design of a memorial to those aboard a plane that crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11 as a cynical political ploy designed to gain national attention. (See: http://tancredo.house.gov/)

CAIR also called on state and national leaders of the Republican Party, including President Bush, to repudiate Tancredo's Islamophobic stance on the memorial issue.

In a letter sent to the National Park Service, Tancredo opposed the design's shape "because of the crescent's prominent use as a symbol in Islam." Extremist and anti-Muslim Internet bloggers have associated the design's semi-circular shape with Islam, despite the fact that the designer, the park service and relatives of crash victims say the shape is a circle broken by the flight pattern of Flight 93 when it crashed near Shanksville, Pa. (The crescent itself has no religious significance in Islam, but is commonly associated with that faith.)

“Those aboard a plane that crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11”?
“Crash victims”?

“Islamophobic remarks”, “extremist and anti-Muslim internet bloggers”……. It just goes on and on with them, doesn’t it? Round and round we go.

CAIR should again be reminded that we are fully aware why these people were aboard a plane that crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11. Flight 93 crashed because a handful of brave Americans overpowered their devout Muslim captors and prevented the plane from reaching its designated target. Quite simply, with no Muslim hijackers on Flight 93, the likelihood of the plane ever crashing would have been significantly reduced. These people were not “crash victims.” They were victims of an Islamic terrorist attack, and for what they did, they are American heroes.

Regarding the association between the crescent and Islam, this conclusion is not “Islamophobic“; it is accurate. Perhaps the crescent doesn’t have any religious significance in Islam. However, it has had a defining relationship with Islam since the days of the Ottoman Empire. To this day, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Comoros, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Pakistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Uzbekistan, and Western Sahara all employ the use of the crescent on their national flags.
http://www.fotw.net/flags/islam.html

CAIR's apparent trivializing of the deaths of innocent Americans who lost their lives at the hands of Muslim lunatics, defining them as "crash victims," is just another shameful episode in the history of an organization that is well acquainted with shameful episodes.

If Islamic symbols, or anything that resembles them were ever to be included in any of the planned 9/11 memorials, should it not be for the purpose of permanently enshrining an indictment of those who perpetrated the most deadly terror attack on American soil in the history of our great nation?

Perhaps photographs of the nineteen hijackers, their commanders, and their apologists should be encased into the sidewalks at the memorials' sites, so that they can be stepped on and walked across by all who live in freedom.

In the meantime, the designers, with thanks to all who contacted them and requested that they return to earth, have decided to do so, and alter the design of the Flight 93 Memorial. Read about it here:

The war cannot be won on the battlefield. As 9/11 wasn't the expected triumph, it must now be trivialized in the American psyche so that the Islamist agenda can be pushed through. 9/11 must be made to seem unimportant or linked to American past misdeeds as some are doing on the site of the World Trade Center Memorial.

They were celebrating at CAIRville. The CAIRairians thought they got the 'crash victims' bit of word magic past DC Watson. But now it is obvious that the 'ever vigilant', Mr Watson is on to CAIRs word trickery. The celebrating has now stopped. Came to an abrupt end. The CAIRairians are now forced back to the drawing board. They desperatly need to find a way to get past DC and Anti-CAIRS Andrew Whitehead. The worse thing that could happen to CAIR is for CAIRairians to have to explain themselves in public without the shield of word magic.
We already know the words, innocent, peace, victim ect, have been layered over with word trickery. Same with 'crash victims'. Double triple speak. Of course this is the official language of CAIRville. They learned that from the Prophet Mohammad. We learn from it also, anything these people say is dubious. There's a crooked spot along the line somewhere. So once again DC Watson has stripped the CAIRairians of their word magic clothing, causing them to scramble for cover, lest the hated infidels look upon their nakedness, and start pointing and laughing. A naked CAIRairian is a sight to behold...but only once...

If one of our mates could somehow find out who this woman is the council of islamic buffoons could be in for a look road through the never never.

DC, the architect may have agreed to alter the memorial design (or title - not clear which)- it would be wise to wait & see the modifications before claiming victory.

Architect Paul Murdoch is reportedly open to more "evolution*" of the memorial design
* http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05259/572574.stm

Murdoch did not say if the design should change or how. What he did say, though, is that there are three main qualities of that part of the design that must remain:

*that the tribute is seen as coming from the land -- using the topography of the site;

*that the flight path cutting through the bowl-shaped piece of land is still represented; and that

*there is still an embracing gesture of the crash site.

Hmmmm . . .call me skeptical but why "an embracing gesture of the crash site" ?

Note that there is no mention of any response to requests for patriotic symbolism (no sign of an American flag or mention of "American" on plans)
or
. . .to significance of "Let's roll" as the absolute resolve in defiance to forced submission.

As for CAIR's attempt to whitewash 9/11 as simply a plane crash . . .the hi-jackers didn't simply bring the plane down. Those who watched the program "The flight that fought back" will recall there were passengers/crew members who were slaughtered prior to the crash and the final audible sounds recorded were "alahu akbar".

Never forget.

A crescent.

A red crescent.

An "embrace" of that crescent.

Three strikes there!

Using a crescent as a tribute to American patriots is an abomination!

Is there a swastika as the featured design at Auschwitz or at the WWII Memorial in D.C.?

I've visited the Flight 93 site. The pride I felt for those heroic passengers is indescribable, and I didn't want to leave. The site is so moving as it stands right now, but I recognize that a permanent structure needs to go up.

How about The Embrace of American Patriotism, with some red, white, and blue? How about a white-marble gate to the field (After all, the site is a kind of cemetery), with meditative spots all the way around the perimeter and an American flag in the center as a sign of American victory, a sign that patriotism can conquer hate. How about eternal flames in niches in the gate wings? Chimes are good because the winds of freedom never stop in that field. I'm no architect, but I can think of other designs.

Murdoch is making a big deal about the topography and having the tribute coming from the land. But the important thing for this memorial is to recognize the victory over jihadism. The land is not the hero. The passengers and crew of Flight 93 were the heroes and should be so recognized--clearly and without questionable overtones.

Hugh,
Once again, you have exposed the double-speak of which CAIR is so fond. They do the same with their use of the term "Islamophobia." I recently posted on that topic.

PS: I am one of those whom CAIR considers an "'extremist and anti-Muslim internet bloggers.'" And damn proud of the fact that I can cut through the crap to see the truth. If CAIR disagrees with me, then I know that I'm on the right path.

Watchful Eye -- I think you wish to direct your kind words above not to me but to D. C. Watson, the author of yet another telling article about CAIR. A slip of the keyboard, I suspect.

WatchfulEye:

Email those ideas and sentiments to the architect.

We disagree that the crescent has no meaning in Islam.

You'll notice that the crescent sits atop many a mosque throughout the world. That is because it is a representation of the Arabian moon-god (al-lah) and it can be traced back to Babylon where the harvest moon figured in pagan mythology. Saudi Arabia was once a territory of Babylonia and a certain amount of cultural osmosis occurred--the Arabs won't admit it, but it's nonetheless true.
