There has been no mass murder in Palestine; the second comment is beneath contempt. What this story really shows is that, to the Muslims, the least suffering or loss they undergo - even property damage - is worth more than millions of non-Muslim lives.

I also wonder, if the UK dhimmis adopt this "universal" Genocide Day, whether they will include the Armenian genocide. It seems that the overriding consideration and the ultimate test of acceptability in Eurabia for any policy is, "Will it offend Muslims?"

I made the point that in the context of any (separate, as well as, not instead of) Genocide Day then the genocide of the Armenians from 1915, with it's 90th anniversary this year would be a good starting point.
I will keep an eye out to see if he does ask any questions in parliament, like he did about the vandalism of Jewish cemeteries, and what answer he gets.
Followers of Islam should count themselves lucky. Most of the world's Infidels still remain unaware of the long history of Muslim conquest of vast territories populated by non-Muslims, mass killings, mass forced conversions, and mass destruction of monuments, Hindu temples, churches, synagogues, and other artifacts (books, manuscripts, art works of every kind).
There should of course be no attempt to meddle with the Holocaust Day Memorial (though the word "Holocaust" does not do that particular mass murder justice, and already is entirely too abstract). But if someone feels the need for another day of remembrance, by rights there ought to be one to recognize the mass murder by Muslims of non-Muslims. And surely the many Hindus in the United Kingdom will wish that any kind of "Genocide Day" is clearly linked to the greatest genocide in history. New Labour has made a huge investment in bringing in hundreds of thousands of muslim asylum seekers to Britain. These are all living on benefit, and in the fullness of time, will vote Labour. New Labour is not about to sabotage this investment for something as trivial as the survival of civilisation in Britain. He cannot see beyond the immediate of gaining electoral advantage. He does not see that such an outcome will badly damage democracy itself.
Time to write to Mr Blair. Letters from America, Australia, Canada, NZ, India - everywhere, but particularly from the USA, as PM Blair is very conscious of his popularity in the US.
Changing Holocaust day would be a huge mistake. It will open a can of worms. If we have a "Genocide day", any real meaning will be lost in the political wrangling, as every group on the planet tries to get itself top of the western agenda. The meaning of "genocide" will be debased as every party to a conflict tries to get victim status for itself. Newspapers will be full of speculation about who will be mentioned in speeches and where prominent people will visit. Mention of Muslim genocides, such as in Sudan, is obviously off limits anyway.
The Holocaust stands out in the history of Western Europe because it happened in Western Europe. It was the product not just of Nazi evil but of centuries of anti-Semitism, which all countries in Europe share some blame for. Few countries did much to help the Jews, and although Britain was better than many, Jews have not forgotten how the Palestinian door was closed to refugees to keep the Arab population pacified. Furthermore, the Holocaust was of a magnitude and displayed a brutality that has rarely been surpassed (if ever) in history. It's right that we should remember it. It doesn't mean that other genocides don't matter.
Also, I think Muslims are about the last people on Earth who have a right to lecture the West about human life not being equally valued. Let them reject dhimmitude and accept women as equals, then we'll talk about equality.

A sinister effort to move along the slippery slope from rememberance, to forgetfulness, to denial. This proposal proves that the Muslim Council of Britain, at the very least, wants to forget, and, would prefer simply to deny the Holocaust altogether. Of course, this has nothing to do with remembering genocide or anything else. This is another cog in the engine of jihad; weaken sympathy for the Jews to advance the cause of Palestine and the destruction of Israel.
So, forget the Holocaust, Jewish suffering, European suffering, and remember the martyrs in the jihad, a jihad which ironically also has Britain in its sites.

I cannot download the petition. The 80th anniversary of the genocide was commemorated with a very emotional service in St Paul's Cathedral in London, which I stumbled into by accident. I was expecting something of equal status this year but the emphasis seems to be more political on Turkey and the EU.
Apart from a couple of dates (many years ago) with a chap who was half Armenian half British (nice eyes, poor timekeeper) I have never met anybody from that community in my part of London. They seem to be based on the other side.
Too bad we can't scrap Islam instead.
Meanwhile the Daily Express reports that relatives of the 7/7 massacre have been offered a derisory £11000 for the death of their relative. Now comes the sting. The government states that any benefit payments will be correspondingly reduced.
It is worth noting that the relatives of the bombers themselves will continue to extract the Jizya/welfare. I'm fairly certain that they are also defrauding the state by making false claims.
On a further note to replacing the Holocaust remembrance to something that satisfies muslims. In the Qu'ran, there are verses that explicitly call for the slaughter and genocide of Jews. It seems to me, that any good muslim would then find it virtually impossible to attend a ceremony that actually condemns the Holocaust.
