Eastern and northern Gaza still ‘occupied’: Abbas

Why Gaza looks increasingly like the Sudetenland. Peace In Our Time update from the Jerusalem Post via the Canadian Jewish News, with thanks to waterdragon52.

If anyone thought that Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza would revive prospects for peace, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas scotched that notion nearly two weeks ago. Full withdrawal to the pre-1967 lines is insufficient, he declared: Israel must also concede additional territory inside these lines.

Specifically, Abbas demanded land north and east of the Gaza Strip. This land was indeed on the Arab side of the 1949 armistice lines, but Egypt, which controlled Gaza at the time, traded it to Israel in 1950 in exchange for a larger chunk of land that Israel held in eastern Gaza. This new border was subsequently acknowledged not only by UN Resolution 242, but also by the Oslo accords, which the Palestinians signed. The PA, therefore, has no conceivable claim to this land: not only did Israel “purchase” it by ceding a larger bit of land to Gaza, but the new border was recognized by both the UN and the PA itself.

Thus when PA officials first raised this demand in talks with Israel several weeks ago, Israeli officials dismissed it as a negotiating ploy. But what Abbas did nearly two weeks ago is not so easily dismissed: in an interview published in a major Palestinian daily, Al-Quds, on Sept. 3, he told the Palestinian public that “the evacuation of the settlers, the settlements and the army from the Strip are steps in the right direction, but it does not mean the end of the occupation. There are lands in eastern and northern Gaza still under occupation… We need to renegotiate the details and get back to the real border.”

This statement manages to undermine every major foundation of the peace process at once.

"Sudetenland" -- with a host of modern Lord Runcimans, ready, as he was, to "seek a comprehensive and lasting settlement." (His words, verbatim, at the time of the Runciman Mission).

But of course he is right. Northern Gaza refers to all the land from the Lebanese border to Gaza and Eastern Gaza is from Jordan river to Gaza.

Oh, I forgot, it is time to give all these territories back since the Palestinians shown the world that they are a thriving democracy where the rule of the gun has long passed. The Palestinians have shown again their willingness to compromise by defining Palestine as not the land from the Euphrates to the Nile as written in the Bible.

So why not giving them the land; we may never hear from them again...

The Israeli withdrawal from Gaza has, in effect, created a huge "free-fire" zone. Sooner or later, Israel will be attacked from Gaza, and the response will be "shock and awe". If the PA will not take responsibility for their own territory, they have no right to claim "authority" to govern.

Kenprice has the right of it. Any palestinian group actually interested in rebuilding and recreating their economy, isn't going to last long against those still being willfully misled into this continuing, senseless war against Israel.

Nothing Israel does will ever satisfy its enemies. On Israel's northern border, Hezbollah terrorists refuse to acknowledge that Israel has withdrawn from Lebanon, even though Israel's withdrawal has been certified by, of all groups, the United Nations. Now, the same thing is happening in the south. The terrorists will always find some excuse for terrorism, and their apologists in the west will always find it convincing.

Their aim is to "push Israel into the sea". They have made that statement from the beginning...why won't we believe them? Israel needs to exercise self-preservation, no more land for false peace. There will be wars and terrorism from now until "palestine" no longer exists, so give nothing else. If muslims can demand that all Jews be out of their lands, so should Israel demand that all muslims be out of the land of Israel.

And then, there's always Jerusalem, Haifa, Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Netanya, etc, etc, etc. All 'occupied' as well, according to the Palestinian Islamofascists. I'm pretty sure much of the 'progressive world' shares this point of view, but simply finds it inappropriate to openly voice it today. As the so-called 'peace process' continues to unfold, I think the true intentions and loyalties of the Unholy Alliance will become more and more evident.

Genesis Chapter 16
9] and the angle of the LORD said to her “ Go back to your mistress, and submit to her harsh treatment” 10] and the angle of the LORD said to her “I will greatly increase your offspring/ and they shall be too many to count” 11] the angle of the LORD said to her further,” behold you are with child/ and shall bear a son;/ you shall call him Ishmael./ For the LORD has paid head to your suffering./ 12] he shall be a wild ass of a man;/ his hand against everyone,/ and everyone’s hand against him;/ he shall dwell alongside of all his kinsmen” 13] and she called the LORD who spoke to her, “ you are EL-roi” by which she meant. “Have I not gone on seeing after he saw me!” 14] Therefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; it is between Kadesh and Bered.-

YES AN WILD ASS OF A MAN WHO IS AGAINST EVERYONE????

Abbas simply proves that Ariel should change his name to "Neville". He traded valuable strategic land for "peace in our time" and war is just around the corner!
