Fair and balanced they ain't

Al-Jazeera reporter Tayseer Alouni arrested again. "Al-Jazeera reporter held in Spain," from the BBC, :

An Al-Jazeera television reporter accused of links with al-Qaeda has been re-arrested in Spain.

Tayseer Alouni and a second suspect, Jamal Hussein, were ordered to be taken into custody on the grounds that they might flee.

They had originally been bailed for health reasons before the verdicts in their case, due later this month.

Mr Alouni denies using a posting in Afghanistan to distribute money to the militant Islamic network.

Much of the commentary on Al-Jazeera seems to think that the odd "debate" between this or that bunch of Muslim Arabs justifies the Der Stuermer coverage of, for example, the war in Iraq (let's not even bother with "Palestine" and the "Palestinians"), which has cost the lives of American soldiers.

Why?
Hitler made the trains run on time, and Mussolini drained le paludi Pontine. So what? And under the regimes of both Nazis and Fascists, publications appeared that were not entirely devoted to race hatred or glorification of il Granitico.

So it is hardly surprising that even Al Jazeera should occasionally have a few programs that are not completely the instrument of Jihad. But only a few. Why this station, which depends entirely on Western technology (satellites) for its operation, whose staff members are given visas to wander the Western world and conduct their propaganda for Muslims world-wide (i.e, even within that same Western world) is fantastic.

But as long as the "war" is not a hot one, it will not be recognized. The kinds of strictures placed even on TASS reporters during the Cold War have not yet been even thought of being put into operation to contain the travels, and work, of Al Jazeera reporters. There has been no attempt to jam its broadcasts, or to end its little career, save for one wan demarche to the Ruler of Qatar (has he, like the Ruler of Bahrain, given himself a promotion, perhaps all the way up to King? One can hardly keep up with these fellows) by, Powell or possibly Rice. The Al-Thani family needs American support to protect it from the Big Bullies -- Saudi Arabia, Iran, and (perhaps a newly-revived) Iraq. Qatar really cannot keep hosting Al Jazeera and not expect some consequences.

Let me revise that last sentence. Qatar really cannot keep hosting Al Jazeera and, in a well-ordered world where the American govenment understood what Islam is all about, and the full malevolence and danger from Al Jazeera and similar channels, not expect some consequences.

See the difference?

Are we at all surprised? Al Jazeera, the mouth piece of Al Quada. Maybe there will be one less beheading of an infidel broadcast.
/I don't think so.

oops, sorry about the triple post.

Watcher:

Sadly, Al-Jazeerah isn't the only biased source of Middle Eastern news. The Western MSM is just as culpable.
