In a bit of fast, temporary relief for the abject dhimmitude that continues to hamstring public discourse about Islamic terrorism, the imam Intikab Habib has resigned as a chaplain for the New York Fire Department following the furor over his 9/11 conspiracy theory remarks, which we just reported this morning. The fire department's new Muslim chaplain abruptly resigned Friday after saying in a published interview that a broader conspiracy, not 19 al-Qaida hijackers, may have been responsible for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks."It became clear to him that he would have difficulty functioning as an FDNY chaplain," Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta told reporters an hour before Imam Intikab Habib was to be officially sworn in. "There has been no prior indication that he held those views."...
Scoppetta said Habib, who was educated in Islamic law in Saudi Arabia and preaches at a New York mosque, had appeared qualified and passed a background check.
"It's sad," said Kevin James, a spokesman for the Islamic Society of Fire Department Personnel. "We had no idea those were his views. He's entitled to his opinion but he's not the right person for the chaplain."
That was fast. Is that one for the antidhimmis and the internet?

I'm no expert in employment law or human rights law, but I don't think this guy has much of a case. Besides, he wasn't fired. He wasn't passed over. He stepped down and is probably hoping that he won't be kicked out of the country.
As for Kevin James's POV that Imam Habib is entitled to believe whatever he wishes, that's very worrisome. Responsibility for 9/11 is not a question of whether you prefer Coke over Pepsi or which end of the soft boiled egg gets cracked open.
It'll be interesting to see how CAIR spins this one.

This kind of thinking, paranoid, irrational, 'blame the Infidel', 'Islam is innocent, e.g. Bin Laden, is rampant in the Islamic world and in the Islamic mind, loaded with paranoia and suspicion for the Infidel world and anything appears to be 'against Islam'.
Anyone who has read the Qur'an carefully and critically should not be able to escape the realization that we should expect these kinds of attitudes from people who take that book seriously: the unbridgeable division between Infidel and Muslim, strict demands for observance of commands issued directly from Allah through the prophet, the inevitability of Islamic domination, the superiority of Islam, the rights of Muslims, believers, to attack, dominate, suppress anything that opposes 'Allah and his prophet', especially the laws, behaviors, values of Infidels, who are evil, destined for hell, and worthy of being despised by the righteous believers, all this and more comes directly from the Qur'an, the Sunnah and the traditions of Islam.
Muslim mentality is replete with paranoia, just as it should be. Why should we be surprised?
I heard on FNC that the firemen are demanding an apology for bringing this guy (Intikab Habib)up for the job.
No doubt this resignation is a "hate crime" according to CAIR!

Not only is he entitled to his opinion, he should have explained it to a group of NYC firefighters, to whom he was supposed to minister. His resignation would in that case not have been necessary. There would be a small matter of an obituary...

This raises an interesting question: how does someone enlightened to the true teachings of Islam confront such self-destructive tolerance? Suppose an organization you were a part of brought on an Imam in a position like this? How would you chase the snake out in such a way that more minds are opened to the truth?
I suffered through a childrens' museum exhibit on Muslim kids in Indonesia at my last job. It made Islam appear absolutely peachy, just a wonderful thing. I was beside myself. At the very end of my time there I managed a small victory - the exhibit manager, a close friend of mine, was beginning to understand the true nature of Islam due to my endless ranting.
