Jihad Watch reader Van Meter has alerted me to a most interesting post at Little Green Footballs about my book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades), which despite an almost complete absence of publicity in the last few days, and an ongoing major media blackout, continues to do well -- indicating that many Americans want to discuss these issues despite the media's avid desire to ignore them:
I had a seemingly minor but very telling incident today that relates to your question. I was chatting with a friend of mine who just happens to be a buyer for a Bay Area bookstore. This person has a 100% moonbat quotient (which is why I feel free to post this here, since the chance that they read LGF is zero). While we were discussing various popular books, my friend blurted out, "And have you heard of this book The Politically Correct Guide to Islam? Unbelievable! I mean, they're actually selling it on Amazon!"I said, "Not only are they selling it on Amazon, but it's in the top ten nonfiction books in the country."
Friend: "Really? You've heard about it?"
Me: "Of course. It was #16 on the NY Times bestseller list last week!"
Friend: (Mouth drops open in utter shock) "I... I flipped through it and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Stuff like, Does Islam promote violence? YES! I mean, who does this guy think he is?"
Me: "Robert Spencer, the author? He's actually pretty knowledgable."
(Climactic comment coming...)
Friend: "I mean, if I were to stock that book, this place would get blown up!"
In one phrase, my friend summed up the battle before us. The Muslims will not need to force us into dhimmitude, for we shall plunge ourselves into dhimmitude willingly, without even being asked.
And why? Because it all comes down to the cowardice of the moonbat. They "sympathize" with the terrorists and "justify" terrorism and "hope to feed the crocodile so that they are eaten last" because on some deep level they are deathly afraid of the violence they know the Islamists are capable of. Dhimmitude is the child of fear, and fear is the child of personal cowardice.
The moonbats, entirely as a result of their self-centered cowardly fear, have all become quislings ready to betray the entire civilization for just a few more years of hedonism.
They have ceded the playground to the bullies.
They are offering tributes of submission to a distant tribe they've never met but whose reputation they fear.
It's bad enough when a nation has a single quisling amongst its ranks; but when 40% of the population are quislings, you have a Code 5 Situation on your hands.
The Terror Threat color ranking may only be at yellow, but the Quisling Threat color ranking is at luminsecent magenta/neon green epilepsy-inducing pulsating checkerboard.
Also, the buyer's comment about not stocking the book -- "this place would get blown up!" -- indicates that he or she knows full well that there are elements of Islam that promote violence, even while expressing incredulity over the fact that I would say so out loud. At least some of those who are intimidated into silence by political correctness and fear actually know the truth.
One more reason to buy one more copy, and to make sure that local bookstores stock it. A sweet inquiry, followed by a little discussion, and about how you wouldn't dream of patronizing in the future any bookstore that kowtowed to Muslim censorship, a sentiment to be expressed in the most reasonable fashion, should have an effect.

I'm not sure where the writer gets the 40% figure. The quisling attitude has not yet been measured (for one thing, probably most or all of the poll-taking institutions are above asking the questions that would measure this). Perhaps it's just the writer's guesstimate. Mine would be more like 60-70%.

I can see the office there, upon receiving your email. The young temp, wearing a "Bush is a Terrorist" t-shirt, working on the computer with her recycled plastic container of a vegan snack beside her opens the email and reads it to herself.

Mad Jack says "I found The Pig at the Jack London Square Barnes & Noble in Oakland." And I'm afraid that in the Bay Area that's just about the only place you'll find the PIGtI: chain stores. Because the independent bookstores are almost universally on the extreme end of the leftist spectrum. I know a lot of people who work in bookstores and they make a conscious effort to exclude from their shelves any book that they perceive as being "right-wing" or "pro-war" or whatever. I've seen bookstore employees who opened a package with pre-publication publicity copies of various books from publishers, and they hold up popular titles by people like Michael Savage or Ben Shapiro or whoever and say, "They're kidding, right?" before tossing the book unceremoniously in the trash. Meanwhile, in the front window, is a display of Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore books.
Coincidentally, blogger Cathy Seipp put up a post very similar to my comment almost at the same time (at http://cathyseipp.journalspace.com/?entryid=621 ), in which she describes an employee at City Lights Books in SF scoffing at the idea of stocking an Orianna Fallaci book, while having an entire table devoted to Ward Churchill.
I used to think it was a tragedy that independent booksellers were one by one going out of business across the country, and that the entire industry of locally-owned boosktores is in steep decline. But I can see now that they have brought it on themselves with their myopic and abrasive politicization of the book industry. If a store refuses to carry Robert Spencer and Orianna Fallaci, and thereby loses a lot of sales to Amazon or Barned & Noble, then they deserve to go bankrupt, both on general business principles and on specific political principles.
Anyway, just dropping to affirm that the anecdote related above is completely true and the dialogue is verbatim accurate.
I've had many conversations with book people revealing the PC-ness and dhimmitude of the bookselling world, but I just thought that this one really summed it all up.

Buy several copies and give them as Christmas presents, for birthdays, your favorite radio hosts, etc. I think the buyer in the above article is suffering from cognitive dissonance; they have two very conflicting beliefs or ideas and have modified their behavior to relieve the conflict between these two by simply not carrying the book. They have been told that Islam is a religion of peace, since all religions are peaceful and benevolent. However the daily news reveals the real truth: Islam is a cult born and bred in violence that still uses murder, terror, violence, oppression lies and intimidqation to control its' members and anyone who would oppose it. (Like organized crime.) Therefore if they do not carry the book or acknowledge its' existence they do not have to be confronted with the fact that the truth about Islam does not match what they have been told. Just close your eyes and the whole world is beautiful. As long as the ostritch keeps its head buried in the sand, it does not have to worry about the lion that is rapidly approaching.
Mr.Spencer, your experience about the book seller being fearful is an eye opener. Perhaps this fear/knowledge of Islam is more widespread than we think, people knowing the dangers of Islam and people are merely afraid to talk about it. Suggest to those in fear that people should start circulating videos on the web where the one who critiques Islam wears a mask explaining that wearing the mask is to protect the innocent person wearing it from the criminals out there who use their own masks to hide from justice and they murder the just. Remind the people that sometimes the good guys like the Lone Ranger wore a mask to hide his identity from the scum that would kill him or the people around him merely for wanting to bring law and justice to the murderous vermin. The problem confronting Islam is that Islamists have made it clear they will kill you and your entire family.

This is a false dichotomy. A head covering is a statement of the employee's religion. Christmas decoration in the store is a statement by the store that Christmas deserves to be celebrated. The two are not the same. If you go to Best Buy and are served by someone wearing a crucifix, it doesn't make Best Buy a Christian store. But if Best Buy put giant crucifixes at the entrance to all their stores, that sends a rather different message, does it not?
One of the best ways to promote the book, apart from the internet is to read it in public, on public transport.

I agree with the reaction to reading it in public. My copy of the Barnabas Fund publication Islam in Britain arrived this morning. It is thicker and more densely written and should keep me out of mischief for a few journeys.

find out who are the gays/womens rights types, the hindus,sikhs,buddhists.
you then e mail them stories that affect them.
I have tried this with women, i sent them stopstoningnow link and the www.homa.org links after a while they do start clicking on the links.
Also i tried it with 2 gay guys who used to wear those stupid "palestinian" scarves. All i did was e mail them grusome stories about gays being killed in the arab/islamic world (they never wore those scarves again)
the other thing that you really should do is get to know your tech support guys, especially if they are Indian sikh or hindu they will be more willing to help.

1) Marx, writing about the origins of the Crimean War in the New York Daily Tribune [15 April 1854], described life in Jerusalem at that time. His account is similar to other Western accounts of the Holy City for most of the 19th century:

It has to do with the pro-oil, pro-Muslim, conservative-owned, pro-business, pro-SAUDI MSM. They have been lying about Israel's "occupation" for almost 40 years. They have been ignoring the crimes of Islam for decades (remember the Idi Amin debacle? He went into "exile" in--where else?--Saudi, and his name wasn't mentioned in the MSM until his obituary.)
Neither FOX news nor CNN nor anyone in-between is telling us the truth, the whole truth about Sudan. NONE OF THE MSM is telling us the truth about Iran's nukes, or the fact that they publically execute "gay" teenagers and girls for having "sharp tongues."
Hell, it even goes way beyond Islam....NONE of the MSM is telling us the truth about Roberts' impending outlaw of abortion.... or China's dismal record on human rights....or pointing out the marked difference between the FEMA response to poor, black New Orleans and that of rich, white NC Outer Banks.
I've got some bad news for you, all of you: the MSM is NOT in business to inform us, educate us, warn us, or enlighten us. They are in business to sell advertising space to their sponsors, period. That's why Mike Moore WILL AND DOES tell the truth about Saudi Arabia, and Rush Limbaugh (Hannity, et al.) can't and won't. Mike (Weiner) Savage will occasionally say something true about the threat of Islam, but he's so damn crazy with EVERYTHING else he says, that only the most immature and low-i.q. cavemen believe him.

Have tried this it works.
when you have finished your 12 pints of 1664 and are about to leave, "accidently forget" the book at the table and walk off, then come back a couple of minutes later and recover the book.
It gives the table new occupiers just enough time to look at the title of the book.

You'll be surprised that as a conservative Catholic I agree with many of your points and I too shudder at the sight of Saudis hugging and kissing President Bush at Crawford.
There is an untold story here how the need for oil and the corrosive effect of Middle Eastern Oil money on our democratic system.Libral as well as conservative politicians are to blame.
And republicans who support President Bush also differ with him
Still, liberals on a popular level support Islam as part of a misguided multiculturalism, the same way they support a whole potperi of other issues from global warming to animal rights.
This is a great error born out of ignorance of Islam and a pathological hatred of Western Civilization.
They romanticize Islam without realizing that it's not just another cause but a dangerous ideology that will strike at the heart of our civil liberties.
KJ why is it that most small book stores refuse to carry books critical of Islam.
